Okay, I'm Back With The Proper Update
Jun. 30th, 2023 11:53 pmI have returned, having filled out my to-do list for the evening --
Work – A bit of a busier Friday, if only because I had a decent-sized GL that I had to do on my own (my coworker had a morning appointment) which also had a mistake in it that I had to make some notes on so the Fiscal department would know what was going on. *sigh* But getting through that and a handful of credit card calls DID make the day go by, that’s for sure. Also put on a last-minute Easter gift and did some more duplicate wrangling – before being allowed to go home an hour early, yay! :) So that was nice. And now I have four days off for the holiday, w000~ Hopefully I can make the most of them!
As for beanbags – didn’t happen this time due to the heat. While it’s not AS muggy as it was, it was still fairly muggy and pretty dang hot, so we ended up skipping today. We’ll see what happens over the long weekend itself!
To-Do List –
1. Get in a workout: Check – final night on the bike this week, with a pair of Sims 4-related videos –
A) “I made my own build challenge and I regret it.” by James Turner! Having tried Plumbella’s randomized build challenge generator, James decided to make his own, with even MORE specific stuff – his challenge includes the lot type (community lot or residential house in a particular style), the number of floors, the lot size, who the owners are (a young couple, aliens, a sim who loves adventure, stuff like that), something they love, something they’re afraid of, a must have item (or items), the budget, and an extra optional challenge (like using a base game starter home as a shell). This can create some very weird or unnecessarily hard builds, as James discovered when he randomized his own build challenge. Namely, he got the challenge to build a “James Turner house” (which in my experience is often in black and white or at least more neutral tones), with one floor, on a 20x15 lot, with the owner being a career-driven Sim who loves an outdoor lifestyle but is afraid of the color green, who must have thirty future cubes, all on a budget of $19,238. Oh, and the optional challenge was to build diagonally. James was able to make a DECENT start, building a cute T-shaped block home with some nice big windows and its own little office nook – but then he hit a snag, and that snag was the thirty future cubes. XD Not only did they clutter up his build, they were also EXPENSIVE, using up roughly $9,000 of his budget! And since he didn’t have a lot of budget to start with, the entire house had to be SEVERELY downgraded, with much cheaper furnishings and being made smaller overall. He MOSTLY managed to follow all his rules, though – the “career-driven” thing didn’t really come through, with James insisting that having a desk and a mini-bookcase on said desk counted, and the “afraid of green” thing – well, James avoided green IN the house, but refused to paint the grass OUTSIDE the house (despite the fact that terrain painting is free, AND he used some to create a path up to the front deck), and even bought a green bush near the end. *shakehead* James James James. . .but it was a very fun little video, especially when he was laid low by his own future cubes. XD Perhaps he will do another one in the future – or maybe showcase some followers who did their own. XD
B) “10 High School Years Objects You Need To Start Using | The Sims 4 Guide” by Petey Plays It! One of his usual “list of five standout items and five possibly-overlooked ones” videos for expansion and game packs (dunno if he ever did them for stuff packs, and he certainly doesn’t do them for kits). Objects that made the grade (pun intended) in this list were the photo booth (great for livening up community lots), the bubble tea counter (a nice substitute for the cafe stuff if you don’t have Get Together), the bathroom stalls (good for public bathrooms if you don’t have Discover University – and I find it interesting that we only got bathroom stalls with the two education-focused packs), and the unlockable prom night stereos (in bronze, silver, and gold, depending on how well your prom night went – it only plays prom music, but it’s a nice memento, and Sims can "sweetheart dance" (another version of slow dancing) to the song). Good stuff, as always!
2. Continue writing “The Joker And The Queen”: Check – did that before my workout, in fact, since I had a bit of extra time! Smiler just told everyone their theory – that Victor is a “support class” holistic, whose special “thing” is the ability to help other holistics and amplify or nullify powers, with their reasoning being that the main Coaster Crew’s power upgrades all happened after Victor touched them, and Wickerman’s flames went out when Victor got near despite Wickerman clearly wanting to toast him. And when Victor was like “how do we prove this,” the universe made a chunk of the Corkscrew metal fall out of the ceiling – and when Victor picked it up, he managed to turn it back on just by willing it to go on. Victor was – less than enthused to learn he does have special powers NOW, given some of the shit he and his friends have gone through, but at least he was able to use his chunk of reactivated Corkscrew to make sure Wickerman can’t burn them once he wakes up from his beating. :p However, there is another enemy they have to face before they’re truly out of the woods. . .
3. Keep up with YouTube Subs: Check – easy-peasy two-in, two-out –
A) First up, the latest from Josh Way – “SKETCHY: Mayday Parker!” A sketch of Peter and Mary-Jane’s kid from the Across The Spider-Verse movie, which Josh saw recently and loved. I am not sure WHICH Peter and Mary-Jane she’s related to (as the Spider-Verse movies are, naturally, about a multiverse of various Spider-People), but she is definitely a) adorable and b) her father’s daughter, as the picture was of her upside-down hanging onto a webline. XD But yes, it was a very cute picture, and Josh couldn’t say enough about how much he likes the Spider-Verse movies, with his only real criticism being that Across the Spider-Verse pulls a BTTF Part II and ends on a very clear “this will all be resolved in the upcoming third movie” note. XD Well, hopefully the next one shows up soon for him to enjoy and marvel at all the different styles of animation contained within!
B) And second up, the latest from GrayStillPlays – “Upgrading cars for 15 minutes straight,” aka Gray plays Earn To Die 3! The third entry in the series about earning and upgrading cars during your trip across a zombie-infested America (financing these upgrades by destroying zombies for zombie cash), this one differed from the rest in that you weren’t actually racing to GET anywhere (instead, you just had to go farther and farther to unlock more map pieces to unlock new areas, like various deserts, ruins, and even ski slopes) and once you’d unlocked them all you just kept going endlessly), AND you were being chased all the while by a zombie driving some sort of mega-tank with rockets. So yeah, had to keep ahead of THAT! Gray started out with a dinky little sedan-type, but after running a few maps (and dealing with an overly-long hearse-like thing that didn’t do great on the bumpy terrain) upgraded to the fire-truck/VW-bus-ish “Charon” (pronounced “Sharon” by Gray, because he and his wife apparently name all their cars traditionally feminine names), which wasn’t very fast but had a BEAST of a suspension and some nice zombie-murdering blades on the front end. That car remained one of his favorites throughout the rest of the game, being really REALLY good at running over zombies and making it through obstacles to get maximum distance, unlock map pieces, and find new cars. He did enjoy the “18 wheeler with an arc reactor” and “the military vehicle with extra gunpower,” but nothing really replaced Charon in his heart until he unlocked the final car, Impact – a monster of a tank with some really nasty front blades, a great top speed, a great suspension, and generally maximum-zombie-killing power. XD Gray just PLOWED through zombies with this thing, heedless of the fact that they’d apparently built their own civilization on the ruins of humanity (seriously, there were zombie fast food people, zombie construction workers, zombies in formal wear, zombies in ghillie suits. . .even zombie Arnold Schwarzeneggers on bikes) – well, okay, not exactly heedless, he noted that the zombies seemed to be doing better than humanity ever did. It just never stopped him from running them over. XD It was utterly delightful and has given me more cars to love! And as the comments suggested, there’s hope that Alex might be watching and taking inspiration. . .
4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Kind of N/A at the moment, as I’m good on Victor Luvs Alice and there’s nothing going on on Valice Multiverse right at the moment. . .we’ll see if I think of something to slap up there sooner rather than later! And I do have the Screenshots folder open for Sims 4 – maybe I’ll try to get a bit of a jump on the shots for my next Chill Valicer Save update (the trip to San Sequoia for SimCity Founding and Victor proposing to Smiler) tonight before bed.
*nods* I suppose not a bad day overall, even if I did have some very irritating moments (like finding that mistake in the GL, bleh). And I am pleased to report that my mouse is doing the stupid "fake double click" thing less today (it's not TOTALLY gone, but I seem to have found the ideal position for it again, so, good). And my parents had a good day for their anniversary -- they liked the card I found online for them, and they got some nice stuff going out to various antique stores, including a new card game for the family (and a new skirt for me) -- so that was good too. :)
But yes, got the weekend to look forward to now! Even if I have to start it off by cleaning my room. :p Hope to also fit in some Sims 4 (getting through Summer Friday with the gang -- I'm planning on having them do store stuff, though part of me is tempted just to do the Valicer wedding. . .we'll see!), the latest OXBox RE video along with GrayStillPlays, and some more "Londerland Bloodlines: Downtown Queensland." We'll see what happens -- at least this time if I miss an item, I have some extra time to catch up! Night all!
