Sinusy Night
Sep. 15th, 2023 11:55 pmFeeling a bit of pressure with Lee moving in tonight -- we're not getting much of anything, fortunately, just some high winds and maybe some rain, but the sinuses were still not happy. And neither was my neck. I took some Advil, and that's helped with the worst of it, so that's good, but I'll be happy to be out the other side of this utterly miserable weather, that's for sure!
As regards my day --
Work – Quiet day that was made immediately better mid-morning by the reveal that they were letting us out early due to an “abundance of caution” regarding Lee gently brushing us this weekend. So after a day of putting together the GL and looking at a LOT of old pledges that were paused on our credit card company’s site for one reason or another (most of those being “donor swapped to check payments after credit card payments started failing” and “donor just didn’t want to pay anymore”), I got to leave at 3 PM and have a pretty decent ride home. *nods* I mean, I would have preferred the early release on MONDAY so I could have avoided the hellish half-flooded ride home THEN, but I will certainly take any early release when it is offered!
To-Do List –
1. Get in a workout: Check – last night on the bike for the week, with a couple more Sims videos –
A) “I am furnishing my own apartment” – James Turner updating Breanne’s warehouse home and photo studio with the money she’d earned by the end of episode 45 of the High School Years LP! Most of it was spent on making an actual lobby for incoming clients (complete with check-in desk, and a really tall “half” wall to show off all her various photos separating the lobby from the actual photo studio space), but James also spent some time redesigning the upstairs so Breanne and Kirk both have nicer bedrooms, some proper bathrooms, a kitchen, and a living area (done up in a lot of pinks, yellows, and greens – and black and white bathrooms, since this is JAMES we’re talking about here XD). He also added stairs going up to the third floor tower, with the intent of turning that into Breanne’s walk-in wardrobe at some point, but ran out of money before being able to furnish it. XD But all the basics are in, the place is looking better than it was, and the entrance is looking VERY professional indeed. :D I look forward to seeing it in action in the next HSY episode!
B) “5 Strangerville Objects You Need To Start Using | The Sims 4 Guide” – Petey Plays It taking us through those Strangerville objects he thinks could use some love – namely, the bot fitness trainer (because Sims training against it do some super-cool animations); the listening device desk (so your evil Sims can plant bugs on people and then blackmail them with the resultant recordings); the bizarre fruit (great if you want to have a possessed Sim for whatever reason); the conspiracy theorist stand (for all the cool stuff you can buy from it, including the colander hat); and the medal display case and the medals you earn by going through the Military career (not an official collection, but Petey still thinks they’re cool). As usual, he also threw in some honorable mentions in the form of the laptops that come with the pack and the goop stains for making places seem slimy. XD Fun stuff, as always! And actually, that fitness trainer might come in handy for Alice if I ever do that “Valicer In The Dark” challenge save. . .
2. Continue writing “Home Sweet Lair”: Check – after some more discussion of just how horrible Victor’s parents are (and Smiler hinting that they know what it’s like to have a parent who just does not understand you, hi there KELMAN), the group has finally made it up into the third floor tower! Which in this universe has a glass roof to keep the rain out and off Elder Gutknecht’s vast collection of books. The trio are currently just marveling at how many there are, but Gutknecht himself is due to make an appearance soon. . .
3. Keep up with YouTube Subs: Check double plus – I ended up spending all of my free time catching up on some recent videos I spotted that I wanted to watch, and thus got through the following –
A) First up, a couple of OXBox lists –
I. “7 Videogame Heroes Who Ruined Everything” – Andy, Jane, and Mike taking us through those video game heroes (player characters and friendly NPCs) who are at least partially to blame for all the shit that happens during the game. From Chris Redfield refusing to explain to Ethan that “the ‘Mia’ I just shot was actually a dangerous shapeshifter, you and Rose are in danger, please come with us quietly” at the beginning of Resident Evil 8: Village (leading to Ethan getting embroiled in the events of the game and finally dying at the end to stop the source of all the horrors), to Samus Aran accidentally making her own evil alien twin by poking around and releasing the monster in the crater full of horrible Phazon goo where it was trapped by the end of Metroid Prime (leading to Samus having to fight her evil alien twin Dark Samus over the rest of the Prime trilogy), to Spider-Man accidentally shattering the Tablet of Order and Chaos trying to stop Mysterio from stealing it in Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions (leading to Spidey having to team up with alternate universe Spideys to reassemble the most powerful mystical artifact on Earth before, I presume, really bad things happen), these “heroes” might want to think through the consequences of their actions a bit more. At least Samus and Spidey have the excuse of being the player characters and thus having to ruin things to advance the plot because that’s how video games work – what’s YOUR excuse, Chris??
II. “7 Most Unsettling Things Found in Open World Games” – an Andy-only voiceover video talking about the weirdest, most unsettling things you can find roaming around open world games. Like Pickman and his murder gallery in Fallout 4 (yes, you can also get the quest to check out said murder gallery from Hancock, but it’s possible to just stumble across it roaming around too)! A very naked wolf-man and his bloody cave in Red Dead Redemption 2! A mine with a mummified body in it in GTA V (made even more unsettling considering even being able to get into the mine was patched in later – the game did not START with an evil mine of murder)! And, most confusingly of all – a hidden giant sandwich in a cave in Halo Infinite. ...Look, it totally counts, Andy thinks red onions are gross. XD
B) Then, from good old Linkara, “US-1 #12 - Atop the Fourth Wall!” I may not be a dedicated AT4W watcher anymore, but I had to come back for the final issue of US-1, the slot-car tie-in comic about a trucker with a metal skull that could send and receive CB radio waves and a tricked-out big rig (that may in fact be artificially intelligent) that he controlled with a silver dollar remote. This issue saw the aliens that were secretly responsible for almost every weird-ass thing that Ulysses Solomon Archer has gone through in the comic (beyond his ridiculous name) setting him up against his evil brother Jeff in a final “fly your truck around the entire planet” race to determine which man would be the USA’s first human member of their galactic federation. It was a tight one, with Jeff doing everything he could to knock US out of the race (including ramming him when they went into space, which nearly got him killed when he flew straight into the Moon), but US, as you might imagine, prevailed, and got the aliens to take not only him, but his adoptive parents and their entire diner into space as well. :) A very goofy and fitting end to the series which has brought us so much joy from the very start of Atop The Fourth Wall – seriously, Linkara started the review with a spiel detailing how the first issue was his seventh episode of the show. It’s been there from the beginning, and now it’s ending in the show’s 15th anniversary year. :) Good stuff! And I’m very glad to hear that the character has continued to appear in other comics, including She-Hulk – you can’t keep a good space trucker down! XD (Oh, and if you’re curious – Contest of Champions storyline still has not ended. Linkara is as annoyed as the rest of us about this.)
C) And finally, this evening, after a VERY long game night (The 80s Game always takes AGES to play), we had GrayStillPlays and “When you run at light speed,” aka Gray plays Tap Tap Run! Another mobile game by the same people who made that arm wrestling game, the main character of that one has moved onto trying to outrun everyone ever by constantly jogging on a series of treadmills. As Gray predicted, the numbers very quickly got ridiculous (especially when paired with various new haircuts, outfits, and shoes to up them even further), and soon he was doing things like 500K runs in less than a second. XD Not that it was easy to become the fastest thing on earth – he had to train quite a lot to get past runners like Usain Nut and Bruce Run, and don’t even get Gray STARTED on how much he had to boost his character’s speed to get past the World’s Angriest Horse, the World’s Most Depressed Ostrich, and ESPECIALLY the World’s Fastest Super-Cheetah. But he got it done and won all those races, thus ensuring he will have a place in the history books! You know, if he hasn’t atomized all the libraries by running past them at light speed. XD
4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: At least a partial check, I’d say –
Victor Luvs Alice – Not much happening queue-wise over here, though I do still hope to get the remaining pictures for the next Chill Valicer Save sorted soon. But I did reblog a post of “Beneath A Broken Sky” Incorrect Quotes Satirical made while trying to get the brain-meats to cooperate on finishing the next chapter/interlude, which was fun. :) You gotta love those generators!
Valice Multiverse – Nothing much going on here, so I reblogged my Valicer Outfits CC Edition post from earlier this week into the queue. *shrug* I’ve reblogged other Valicer outfit stuff over there in the past, sooo. . .
*nods* Yeah, pretty good day overall -- though I do wish I could have done more with the pictures. Have to see what I can accomplish before bed, I suppose. . . Anyway, tomorrow's to-dos include getting this Chill Valicer Save stuff sorted on tumblr; writing some more on "Londerland Bloodlines: Downtown Queensland;" doing some more building stuff in Sims 4; and keeping up with GrayStillPlays. All weather permitting, of course, but again, we're not supposed to get hit hard, so. . .fingers crossed, everyone! Night all!
