Somewhat Distracted Thursday
Sep. 20th, 2023 11:46 pmConcentration hasn't been the best today -- brain keeps wandering off on very specific tangents involving Victor, Alice, and Smiler. ^^; Ah well -- still made it through the day, still accomplished everything on my to-do list --
Work – Bit of a weird day – we kept getting phone calls that weren’t for our department and had to pass ‘em on, and my coworker and I found some more credit card fuckery that needs to be dealt with. *sigh* On the plus side, talky coworker was out today (wasn’t feeling well) and I finished up my big old spreadsheet of paused pledges, so that’s all sorted now. Tomorrow I’ll be looking at failed payments and seeing what pledges need to be put back on paper reminders – hopefully that’ll hold me through my Thursday!
To-Do List –
1. Get in a workout: Check – another night on the bike, doing the following –
A) Finishing off GrayStillPlays’s “I found the best rated mobile games so you don't have to” compilation! Watched the last of the terrifying Eating Simulator video (in which Gray had to “out the spike” out from some unfortunate man using a hose in some very bad areas), then the final video in the set was him playing one of those “drawing the wheels on your vehicle to complete a course” games. Gray of course drew things like the state of Florida, the words YEET and KILL, guns, and dead stick figures – and more often than not found they were amazing when it came to climbing and swimming and all that fun stuff. XD Good trip down mobile game memory lane, that!
B) Starting James Turner’s “Breanne's studio is very successful! High School Years (Part 46)!” Back to Breanne and her studio again for this episode (I can’t see any indication yet that Addison’s kids in the “Dine Out Reloaded” series have been born, and Breanne’s doing her own thing in all different worlds, so it doesn’t look like I’ll be getting any spoilers if they have been), with James giving everyone who DIDN’T watch the renovation video a tour of the updated space before sending Breanne out to complete another gig and find some models. This has involved Breanne going to StrangerVille to get some lovely shots of her new friend and model Vanti in her everyday wear against the gorgeous backdrop of the desert (then learning, in an attempt to find out if Vanti might be a viable romantic prospect, that she’s a Green Fiend, Adventurous, and – Evil), then heading out to the Salty Paws Saloon in Brindleton Bay to meet some more people for modeling purposes (and having some salacious flirtation with a supposedly-married woman, damn). I ended the first few minutes with Breanne back at her home/studio preparing to talk to the style influencer while James wondered yet again where the hell her roommate Kirk was. XD We’ll see where this all goes tomorrow, and pick up with Addison bringing in the next generation of Bigwallets on Friday!
2. Continue writing “Home Sweet Lair”: Check – Victor has explained a bit about what happened between him and Emily to Gutknecht, who has remarked that Victor could be a powerful Whisper with some training – something that intrigues Victor despite himself. Alice has noted that Gutknecht is being shockingly welcoming, and Smiler picked up on the fact that Gutknecht is probably just lonely – a fact Gutknecht confirmed, saying he was a very insular man while alive, and now in death, no one wants to approach him because, well, ghost. Though his wards to hide his house from the unsavory sorts probably didn’t help there. . . This “scene” is rapidly becoming a whole-ass fic chapter at this point! Starting to wonder if I should just bite the bullet and turn this into a real story. . .we’ll see how this all goes!
3. Keep up with YouTube Subs: Check – just GrayStillPlays today, with “Cars vs Cursed Potholes in GTA 5!” Alex back to his usual tricks with a new weird-ass potholes Torture Board for Gray, which included the Cage Fighting Pothole (a sunken arena where the devil was alternately firing a minigun up into the air and into Clone!Gray’s crotch, while another guy on the side threw molotov cocktails at them); the Cursed Nacho Pothole (a rotating ring of nachos around a central chip can that regularly fired a larger nacho into the air); the Tetanus Pothole (a pothole surrounded by and full of various rusty pieces of rust, patrolled by a cloud that, if it touched Gray’s car, would make it immediately start folding in on itself and destroy the engine to boot); the Vampire Impalement Pothole (a pothole made of a ring of wood around a pit of fire with a ribcage in it, in which various giant cheese sticks were going up and down like stakes, all decorated with coffins and vampires and vampires in coffins); the Human Cement Pothole (a pothole that “filled” itself periodically with human-filled cement – the trick to this one was to time going across it JUST right so that Gray didn’t fall into the pit and then glitch out forever as the platform of human-filled cement moved through him and his car); and the Boss Cursed Pothole (a giant “strawberry jam” windmill blender pit surrounded by a very fast-moving ring of various pillars of cement (I presume) that it would be very easy to crash into). Gray had to find the right car to actually get across this whole mess – which was explicitly NOT the Wastelander, as per Alex! In fact, Alex made it so the poor thing couldn’t even get across the FIRST pothole. :( But a lot of the other cars didn’t do much better – the BMX bike and the quad were both able to cheat the side of the cage fight, but didn’t survive the nachos; an absolute rustbucket car with wonky tires made it all the way to Tetanus, but no further; and the Draugur made it to the impaled vampires but just didn’t have what it took to make it to the end. The winner, in fact, was a car that Gray had noted had not yet won a challenge, even though it always did well – that car that has two tires tied to the back of it! AKA the VAPID TROPHY TRUCK – yes, I spent ENTIRELY too long looking up what its official name is. I wanted to know, damn it! (I’m just lucky “Vapid” was actually printed on the car this time, which allowed me to finally narrow it down. . .) Anyway, yes, Alex apparently felt bad for the car that tries so hard and gets so far but in the end, it never even matters and gave it a course that it could win. :) Which was nice of him! If pretty damn torturous for Gray. XD
4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check – just Victor Luvs Alice tonight, with me catching up on the dash AND my tracked tags after writing and before Gray (I even reblogged a poll on where you would want to live in A:MR – picked my beloved Cardbridge, of course), and then resetting the queue speed to one and getting my “Song Saturday” sorted – though it’s less “Song Saturday” and more “Trailer Saturday” this week, as I remembered “oh yeah, Saturday is the 18th anniversary of the release of Corpse Bride” and thus decided that I should put up the trailer to celebrate. :) So THAT’S all sorted for the rest of the week, at least!
*nods* Not too shabby -- though I was hoping to get to Moose's messages tonight too, but it was not to be. Hopefully tomorrow, as I WILL have some more time tomorrow night anyway thanks to my personal four-day weekend. :) In the meantime, though, I should hit the sheets and try and get some sleep -- that's been annoyingly hard this week. >( Just one more day of work to go! Night all!
