Slow To Start Friday
Sep. 22nd, 2023 11:45 pmI think I went to bed a little too late last night (just past 2 AM), because I didn't really wake up until about 9:55 AM, and I felt really groggy throughout most of the morning even after breakfast. Though NOW I'm feeling quite awake, which is a bit annoying. . .sometimes I feel like a proper night person, and sometimes I feel like a morning person trapped in a night person's body. I wish my brain would make up its mind! *shakehead* Though I did pretty well on the old to-do list regardless --
Tumblr: Didn’t get QUITE as much done as I would have liked, but I did do what I set out to do, at least –
Victor Luvs Alice – Spent the time before lunch catching up on my dash and tracked tags, before managing to make at least a little headway on the “Smiler Otherland Domains” post in my drafts (and fixing some typos in the “weapons” post). At the very least, there’s more there than there was before! Part of the problem with that post, though, is that I keep wanting to find/reference videos for ideas about the domains, which I then want to link in the post itself, and that’s holding things up a bit. Meh. I’ll get it sorted eventually!
Valice Multiverse – Just the one ask reply for the queue tonight! Pretty simple stuff all told.
Sims 4: Took me a little longer than I wanted to actually get into the game thanks to having to check my mods for updates (most were like “lol, we don’t even know – you’ll just have to try us and see” annoyingly, but I got a few updates and a few “compatibles,” so good), but I did manage to get into the Chill Valicer Save and give the trio a pretty productive day –
A) Started off with a look at the insect collection on the back of the barn wall and in Victor and Smiler’s inventories to see if I had any missing insect ingredients for Smiler’s herbalism – unfortunately, I did not, so I just ended up chucking all the locusts Victor had in his inventory into Smiler’s so they could use them later and then selling everything else in there (as they were all duplicates). Smiler, the only one awake at the time, then felt the love with Shadow and mopped some mysterious symbols in the barn before going to play and sing some songs on their guitar (as they were feeling SUPER inspired), accompanied by Shadow and Shock, the latter of whom sang along. Awwww. :) I may not have planned on these kittens, but they are very cute.
B) Eventually, though, it was time for Victor and Alice to get up, and everybody to get started on their tasks for the day –
Victor did some more perfumery, making some Happy Scent – and then, when that got him to Perfumery skill 4, the just-unlocked Flirty Scent! I then had him try giving one of his Nimble Mind potions to the specter haunting their back porch – unfortunately, the specter was not a fan. >( Victor thus retreated to the greenhouse to start the weeding and watering and all of that.
Smiler took some time to tune up poor Bugs and Elmer (who desperately needed it), then wandered upstairs on their own to make a Fizzy Fruity drink. I allowed this and then sent them back downstairs to check on Kelly (who was yowling for attention) and give the cat some calming pets before sending them into the greenhouse to activate the two gardening bots to help Victor and do a little more herbalism. Making another Soothing Skin Balm got them all the way to skill level 7, which allows them to make Natural Herbicide Oil! Which, uh, ONCE AGAIN requires a plant they don’t have. *grumble* I gotta get my hands on some toxic chamomile soon. . .
And poor Alice got stuck with fixing the toilet after it immediately broke from her using the bathroom, putting away the laundry, and TRYING to start a new book (a fantasy about the White Knight called “Knight To E-4”) – only to be twice blocked by her werewolf instincts! Once because they demanded she take a nap, and then once because they demanded she go outside. *grumble* Maybe I should try to get her the Lunar Howl special ability next and see if I can change a couple of these. . . I took the opportunity of her being outside to have her feed the chickens (one of the hens was up and hungry), then (after she sneaked away from me to mold some clay into a bunny while I was trying to get Smiler to go to Kelly) FINALLY had her make some progress on the book. Girl gotta get through this Bestselling Author aspiration EVENTUALLY!
C) With Alice busy writing and Victor busy gardening, I needed a way to keep Smiler busy too – and hey, we needed more flower arrangements at the store, so why not have them make one? They created a beautiful arrangement that got them up to Flower Arranging skill 6 (seriously, Smiler leveled up a LOT of skills today), then went to try their luck with the porch specter, handing over their Fizzy Fruity drink from before. Annoyingly, the specter didn’t like THAT either. Like, come on, throw me a bone here! Smiler retreated inside the greenhouse to get as much of their herbalism stuff as they could reach (one of the garden bots was busy spraying herbicide on the fireleaf to get rid of the weeds) and their plasma fruit –
D) And then it was animal caretaking time! Alice was on chicken duty today, cleaning out the coop, chatting with Cockadoodle the rooster and the little rooster chick, and gathering eggs (in between giving herself pep talks in the downstairs mirror to try and clear her gloomy mood), while Smiler cleaned out Moory’s shed and chatted with her a bit – fortunately, she decided she liked them again, and Smiler was easily able to get some milk from her. Victor, having finished all the tending, started the great harvest of the greenhouse (shutting down Elmer while he was at it – Bugs, unfortunately, had floated off somewhere), while Smiler went to make another chatterbot just in case we needed one and Alice got herself some cake for breakfast (no, I totally allowed this – of all the leftovers in the fridge, the cake was due to go off the soonest). Everything seemed to be going well –
E) And then I spotted Brian Pimental, NAP inspector, outside examining a pile of recyclables. Whoops. I quickly had Victor go recycle the trash while Brian jogged around the house to look at the greenhouse – fortunately, he was willing to forgive them being a bit messy and assured them they were still in compliance with NAP policies. :) Nice. Better yet, that led to me discovering where the hell Bugs had gotten to, as the bot appeared just in time to sort of “chase” Brian down by the greenhouse. XD Brian left just as Toothy the cowplant stuck out their cake tongue, though fortunately he didn’t seem tempted by it – I had Victor track down and shut down Bugs, and Alice go feed Toothy (as well as encourage Surprise to eat, as the kitten didn’t seem to realize that the pet bowls were full again). Victor finished the greenhouse harvest with the oversized crops (which, admittedly, were mostly regular-sized this this time, though I think the aubergines were medium-sized) before having the final slice of cake for lunch, while Alice fixed up a busted water collector and Smiler hatched a new chick in the coop (in a rather, uh, GLITCHY way – one of their arms was twisted around behind them for some reason). Victor sought out Alice for a short chat while he finished his lunch, then Smiler and Alice went to dance as Victor cleaned up his dishes –
F) And then – to the store! As always with this group lately! XD But as the shelves were almost ENTIRELY filled, I wanted to just get the darn place sorted and ready to go at last –
Victor started by Copypastoing some of Smiler’s fireflies so they’d have plenty for spirit-lifter-gummy-making purposes, then got put on flower arrangement making duty because Smiler was going to be downstairs doing apothecary stuff. He did very well, using Repairio to increase the quality of any “meh” arrangements and making sure to scent them all with bluebells so they’d all be “timeless” and wouldn’t wilt (or at least wilt a lot slower). Even got to Flower Arranging skill level five! Near the end of the day, he also copied some Tummy Therapy and Deodorizing Cream herbalism concoctions Smiler had made earlier to just fill out the bottom shelf of the Herbalism section of the store (I’d love to put NEW stuff down there, but Smiler can only make so many concoctions without some more plant variants and insects) and cleaned some spoiled plates out of the fridge. Keeping the store neat and smelling great!
Smiler, as stated above, spent pretty much their entire day working on apothecary stuff – namely, making Red Hot tablets with all their basil and Spirit Lifter Gummies with the fireflies Victor had kindly copied for them. They were indeed able to fill out the “pharmacy” shelf with all that stuff in the end – AND get up to Apothecary skill level 4, meaning now they can make stuff like Snake Oil and Rose Perfume tablets! :D So now I can start diversifying THAT shelf more. . .
And Alice started by making some final boxes of stuff to fill in gaps in the remaining shelves – cheese, tomato sauce, and mayonnaise. . .and when that was done, and she’d cleaned out the initial spoiled plates in the fridge, I realized that she kind of had nothing to do. So I sent her outside to work on the mural on the side of the building! She made really good progress on it while Victor and Smiler were finishing off their tasks – though she had to take a couple of breaks to let out a somber howl (gotta keep the Fury down) and have some water while sitting on the big fountain on the other side of the store. And she ended the day with some pretty horrible needs, poor thing. Still, the mural’s just about done – hopefully she can finish it the next time they visit!
G) So yes, with the final flower arrangement made and the final bottle of tablets concocted, the store was all ready to go! And everybody was VERY ready to go home, Alice most of all. So the gang headed back to theirs in the newly-falling snow, arriving to find a solid blanket of the white stuff around the farmhouse. Looking like it’s gonna be a white Winterfest! I had Alice transform into her beast form so she could just “mark her territory” outside instead of rushing off to one of the bathrooms, then she went out for a late-night hunt (seriously, it was after midnight by the time they got back) as Victor gave Smiler a drink straight from the wrist. Victor slumped off to bed while Smiler went upstairs to check the latest Simstube trends, and Alice followed after returning with a steak to scarf down (and having a very cute moment with Shadow). Ended the session with Victor and Alice settling in for sleep, Smiler getting ready to hype the next video, and me taking a picture of all four pet fish (Punchy, Chewy, Overthe, and the Captain Fishbones Bonefish – gotta give it a “proper” name) in the aquarium, as we could actually see all four swimming around for a change. XD
*nods* Maybe not the most RELAXING session I’ve ever played with them (there was a lot of stop-start as I tried to wrangle them, and I ran into a curious bug at the store where they’d all just stop and idle for a while – I THINK, but I’m not sure, that it had something to do with Smiler’s experimentation at the apothecary bench, as it seemed to happen most often while they were making their tablets and gummies), but I am VERY glad to have that store finally filled and ready for opening! But we’ll do that AFTER the gang celebrates Winterfest – they’ve earned a break. :)
Writing: Despite a very late game night (long game of BTTF Monopoly – we quit around 9 when Dad went out, and Mom and I totaled up our various gains to see who had won (her, by a mile – she landed on Free Parking FOUR TIMES, and since we use the house rule that all fines and such go under there, along with a starting $500 bill. . .), I did get another page done on “Home Sweet Lair!” Consisting mainly of Smiler, Alice, and Victor explaining what happened to them earlier and why they’re even in Gutknecht’s house to him – and ending with Smiler suddenly putting two and two together regarding some of what Alice mentioned earlier and realizing that Bumby is the disgruntled suitor she told them all about when talking to Emily. Which means now we have the perfect lead-in for Alice telling them and Victor what ELSE Bumby’s been up to. . .and somebody going, “Well, we’re already accused of murder. . .”
YouTube: Just GrayStillPlays tonight, with “When you eat 9,999,999,999,999 tons of food,” aka Gray plays Food Fighter Clicker! Made by the same people who made that arm-wrestling game and long-distance racer game, now our guy is slamming down food like he’s in a Nathan’s hot dog eating contest and earning absurd amounts of money from every boiled egg, chocolate bar, triangle gimbap (it’s a Korean dish at least VAGUELY similar to sushi – features cooked rice, veggies, and fish wrapped in seaweed, anyway), bowl of ramen, tomahawk steak, and plate of spaghetti forced down his gullet to buy things like nicer tables and chairs to eat at, fancier haircuts and outfits to eat in, increased bite and chew power, better digestion speed, and a bigger mouth and stomach. Gray of course had a lot of fun with how ridiculous the numbers went so quickly, and seeing what new food items would be devoured every time he beat a challenge (angrily decrying every attempt to get him to eat healthily when they put things like apples and king broccoli in front of his dude). It’s a simple formula, but it still makes for fun videos. XD
Workout: Check – last day on the bike this week, finishing off “The next generation of Bigwallet's! Dine Out (Part 7)” by James Turner! The rest of this particular episode could be summed up like so –
A) James attempts to get the Bigwallet Restaurant to five stars! Mostly through dropping the prices on the meals so the customers don’t get annoyed with how much they’re paying. The restaurant is still making a profit, even if it’s earning much less than before, and the reviews ARE getting better – while the place is NOT quite at full five stars yet, it’s up to four-and-a-half, and they’ve gotten their first five-star review from a critic (though it probably helped that they comped the guy’s food XD). Addison is working well with Agatha and their other new chef, and has earned enough perk points to get patrons to be more patient and to hire a third waiter to boot. :D Things are going really well over there, even if James had to screw with his layout a bit to make sure Addison was facing the right way at their front cook station. XD
B) James upgrades the actual house Addison and Hilary live in! It’s not GREAT – there’s no downstairs bathroom, yet, and all of the furniture is really really basic (though the master bedroom and the kids’ room look nice), but it’s livable, and Addison and Hilary are making do. The main problem is people wandering in when they’re not wanted – Hilary’s brother Forrest at least knocked on the door and waited to be invited in to meet his new – well, James is currently calling Quinn his “nephew,” but I’m pretty sure Quinn is actually a girl? We’ll see what happens with Quinn’s gender presentation later – but the Flower Bunny insisted on coming in for unwanted hugs, and Hilary’s dad Sidney just wandered in completely at random for a mud bath. XD Sims, let me tell you. . .
C) James speedruns the next generation of Bigwallets! Yes, with only a couple of weeks at the time he recorded that episode until Growing Together came out, James had to make sure that Addison and Hilary’s children were of an appropriate age to enjoy all the new family-related content! So Quinn got aged up to a Charmer toddler just one day after their birth, and James promptly got Hilary pregnant again so he could actually have a child on-screen and name it something from the suggestions in the comments. XD The new arrival, born at the hospital, was a boy, and named Rye because the top-rated comment was all about giving them food-related names. :p
So yeah, now Addison and Hilary have two kids, roughly $10K to improve their house further, and three episodes to go in their series! I’m pretty sure James does the house upgrades as their own video (much as he did the renovation of Breanne’s space as its own video), so I might seek that out to watch on Sunday. :)
Not too bad, I suppose! Still wish I'd managed to get more done with my tumblr drafts, but at least I made an effort. . .and perhaps I'll be able to get more done tomorrow. In the meantime, I gotta wrap up and try to get to bed at a better time -- especially since tomorrow features both me having to clean my room AND us all going to get vaccinated. Not sure if I'm gonna do any Sims 4 (and if I do, it'll probably just be some building) or just concentrate on catching up on my OXBox and whatnot -- we'll see what tomorrow brings! Night all!
