Another Late Update Day
Sep. 28th, 2023 11:55 pmThough I'm a little less stressed from juggling stuff at the end of this one -- still, let's get the to-do list sorted and then get out of here, as I DO still have work tomorrow!
Work – Another fairly long, boring day of doing duplicates and sorting out dead people, broken up by posting a large gift that came in and talking to the credit card people (and finding that, due to some sort of massive internal issue, nothing still has been done about our problems). Plus the usual bad traffic (though the ride home wasn’t QUITE as nasty? Up there, but not quite). At least I only have to get through tomorrow now!
To-Do List –
1. Get in a workout: Check – another night on the bike, another night with James Turner, starting “Bigwallet Family Reunion! Dine Out (Part 9)!” With Growing Together very much on the horizon now, James was trying to balance speed-running Quinn and Rye’s childhoods with keeping the restaurant running smoothly – and, actually, doing pretty well with both:
A) On the restaurant side, now that the prices are back up, the place is making a decent profit again – AND Addison going in early a couple of days (notably, in order to avoid having to deal with the children, James had them work over there the entire weekend XD) meant that there was fresh produce to harvest and put in the fridge to use in meals, meaning the profit margin increased even MORE. By the time I stopped, three services (complete with some take-out orders) had earned the family roughly $19K! AND, despite the fact that Hilary can no longer serve as host due to her own teaching job, the food and service are good enough that people are still giving great reviews – James actually got it all the way back up to five stars at the end of the third service. :D So yeah, the Bigwallet Restaurant is officially a success, yay. :D
Oh, and a bonus – during the final service, Addison got a call while they were wrapping up orders – and it was from Breanne’s new boyfriend Rey, who apparently found a ring in her bag! :D James was super excited because this exact scenario in reverse (Addison calling Breanne on a date) was how Addison and Hilary got engaged, and of course had Addison tell Rey to say yes. :D So now Breanne has a fiance! That’ll make the final two episodes of her series interesting!
B) On the kids’ side, while their childhoods were definitely abbreviated, and their non-binary parent fled for the weekend to the restaurant, Quinn and Rye still had a decent childhood and toddlerhood. Quinn and Hilary got into the habit of doing homework together – Quinn completing it, Hilary grading it; Addison made an effort to teach Rye basic manners; and everyone ended up playing around the “toddler” blocks table after Addison built up a little city scene for Rye on there. :) Auntie Breanne even stopped by for a little bit (possibly to see how they liked the photos – James put up the best ones in the kitchen and by the stairs), and she and Rey got along MUCH better this time around. :D
But alas for the children, they are the future stars of the Growing Together LP, and thus could not get the full childhood/toddlerhood experience – almost the moment Addison arrived home from their weekend at the restaurant, they were put to work making a cake to age the kids up. Quinn was directed to draw a few pictures at the kids’ activity table to enjoy her last moments of childhood before becoming a teenager – which led to James assigning her the “Creative” trait when she did. (Her aspiration, of course, was one of the Family ones – “Super Parent,” I believe.) And of course, the cake was reused so Rye could grow into a child – he got assigned the “Cheerful” trait, which kind of seems at odds with how grumpy he was as a toddler, but then again, nobody ever let him SLEEP when he was a toddler, so. . . XD We’ll see if he does better as a kid!
So yeah, episode is going well for everyone so far – and it’s not quite over yet! Because the money they’ve earned from the restaurant has been spent on improving their backyard and creating a fun BBQ area by the pool so James can end the episode with a “Bigwallet Family Reunion” of sorts. . .we’ll see how that goes tomorrow!
2. Continue writing “Londerland Bloodlines: Downtown Queensland”: Check, though it took me a while to find the bit I wanted in the old Helloween LP I’m watching for reference! But Alice has successfully tracked down Simon Milligan in his apartment (dude was hiding in the closet) and is ATTEMPTING to urge him to leave L.A. as soon as possible to protect his own life. However, she doesn’t really get just how bad poor Simon’s sanity is right now. . .and an off-hand comment about the moon is going to prove a tipping point. . . (AKA, I’m doing the bit where a Malkavian can Dement Simon into chasing the moon to save the Masquerade without sending him to Pisha to be killed, only without Alice actually Dementing anybody – poor Simon was just a bit too traumatized by what he saw and snapped on his own. Still works for preserving the Masquerade, at least?)
3. Keep up with YouTube Subs: Check – got to YouTube late and had to deal with slow load times (I – am starting to wonder if it has anything to do with people trying to watch football on YouTube? Dad WAS watching the Packers-Lions game earlier), but I did get through the Josh Way video in the Subs today – “What I'm Playing - Unemployment Edition!” An update on what he’s now playing during his weeks of unemployment. :p Titles included Sea Of Stars (a “classic turn-based” indie RPG with pixel art that Josh praised for having great writing, great pacing, and good accessibility features – even if he has a pet peeve about it being called “story mode” instead of “easy mode”), Pikmin 3 (a game he’d tried and abandoned as he couldn’t get his head around the strategy stuff – until he played the more-user-friendly Pikmin 4, which helped him get back into the previous installment and complete it), the Pikmin 1 & 2 rerelease set that recently came out for the Switch (he’s working his way through the first game, which he finds very frustrating, but thinks it’ll be short enough for him to muddle through – he is VERY much not sure if he’ll play 2 through or end up skipping it), The Legend Of Nayuta Boundless Trails (a remaster of an older action RPG which involves playing through levels and manipulating the seasons to grow things and such, which is cool – Josh certainly seemed to think so), Advance Wars 1 & 2 Re-Boot Camp (a pair of old GameBoy grid-based strategy games remastered for the switch – Josh usually isn’t much for grid-based strategy games, but he’s really gotten into this one, and he suspects it has something to do with him being unemployed and needing problems to solve), Wargroove (roughly same as previous, but with a different, more medieval aesthetic and from an indie studio – and since it has better accessbility/easy modes, Josh is enjoying it more), and Super Mario RPG and Fire Emblem (a classic RPG title and a classic strategy title he’s been playing in little bursts on his little emulation device before bed). An interesting look at what he’s into currently! Makes me feel that I need to pick up some more games to fiddle around with. . .might be nice to have something a little less involved than Sims 4 or Fallout 4!
4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check – at the very least, I’m all set for tomorrow –
Victor Luvs Alice – My original idea for a post for Friday didn’t pan out (would have taken too long to complete), so instead I threw an OT3-related picture I liked a while back from one of the poly blogs I look at occasionally into the queue for Friday, and a song I found on a different poly blog in for Saturday – though I gotta finish the actual text and tags on that one. Just ran out of time tonight!
Valice Multiverse – Another two ask replies, with Wonderland shenanigans and Taco Thursdays – pretty easy!
*nods* Yeah, that'll do for now. Time to go to bed and see about getting through Friday! Night all!
