Rain Coming Down In Buckets
Jan. 9th, 2024 11:48 pmSeriously, it's just POURING out there -- loud enough to hear it inside the house. O.o And it's supposed to do this most of the night, followed by high winds all tomorrow morning. . .the commute in is going to be fun. *sigh* I'm getting really sick of all these storms and rain and whatnot. It's just -- miserable so often! I hate it. :(
What I don't hate is having a good day on the to-do list:
Work – Meh day once more – the ride in wasn’t too bad, but I’m running out of things to do at work (that don’t depend on other people actually getting back to me on shit). I finished two of the three roster maintenance tasks I had on my plate, and I’m almost done with the third. And the ride home. . .well, it was horrible and wet and dark, and I had a couple of assholes on my tail flash their brights at me because they didn’t like how slow I was going (I don’t control the traffic!). *grumbles* So yeah, not great, but it could have been worse. We’ll see how the storm tonight affects things!
To-Do List –
1. Get in a workout: Check – another night on the bike, another night with the GrayStillPlays compilation video “100 ways to ruin human lives!” I have finished off the Jeff’s Island segment (which became a bit of an endurance contest for Gray after he got his hut built, because after a certain point, you’re so well-stocked on supplies that there’s no real challenge to surviving anymore – he finally let Jeff die of exhaustion after 244 days, having gotten 200 kilograms of fish meat stocked in his hut), and started the Life Fix segment (which follows the adventures of Jess, who is kicked out of her house after coming home to find her ex cheating on her and chooses to move into an old spooky house and try to fix it up; Gray is very disappointed in this game for convincing people that duct tape CANNOT fix everything, and that planks randomly nailed over a window will stop a breeze coming in through a totally-unblocked hole). Good stuff – it’s always a delight when he plays the awful mobile games with limited assets and Google Translate dialogue. XD
2. Continue editing “Londerland Bloodlines: Downtown Queensland”: Check – Alice has woken up just outside of the main Downtown area, having been dragged there by two of the canonical Sabbat from the game and one Ed Sheeran cameo. XD We’ve gotten through the initial threats, Alice calling the Ed Sheeran cameo out on his fashion sense (as you might expect, he’s his vampire self from the “Bad Habits” video, which involves a lot of pink and glitter), and the trio ATTEMPTING to attack her, only to be warded off by Nines Rodriguez showing up with a solid handgun and a grenade on his hip. I mean, I’d back off too under those circumstances! We’ll get to Nines finishing the rescue and his and Alice’s first conversation on Thursday!
3. Keep up with YouTube Subs: Check – had a double feature today –
A) First up, the latest from Josh Way – “SCREEN TIME: Leave the World Behind & Migration!” Short reviews of the two latest movies he’s seen, Leave The World Behind on Netflix and Migration in theaters. He considered both “fine” movies, though it was obviously he preferred LTWB as he spent most of the video talking about it and apparently considered the premise (a family on vacation deals with personal drama while in the background society collapses) pretty interesting, even if he felt the characters were a bit too much “characters” and not “people” (that is, everyone involved was very clearly playing a certain “type” of character). Migration he admitted he went into expecting to dislike it because he thought it would be pretty middling thanks to seeing the trailer a dozen times over on other movies – but he said he was kind of unfair, and while it’s a forgettable movie, it’s not a BAD one. It’s just – a bit of a weird follow-up to the other stuff the studio has done (Illumination, the people behind the Minions and the Mario movie). Short and sweet, and I’m probably going to look up the premise of LTWB if nothing else, because I want to know how the apocalypse goes down. :p
B) And second up, the latest from GrayStillPlays – “I ran a supermarket that ends lives,” aka Gray plays Virtual Work Simulator! This is a game where you play as Phil, an employee at the local supermarket, which I have dubbed Void Mart because most of the shelves are empty, there are exactly three employees (Phil, Phil’s manager, and the security guy), and most of the store is shrouded in darkness despite all the lights being on everywhere. As the newest employee of Void Mart, Phil was tasked with helping customers with their problems – such as giving a mumbling man soda from the warehouse! Removing moldy pizzas from a display one at a time and then restocking them – one at a time! Restocking the milk section with milk from the warehouse – not the REFRIGERATED food supply, mind, the WAREHOUSE! Catching a rat with the Rat Catcher v2 – a box with a wedge of cheese in it! Restocking the cheese section, fortunately this time from the refrigerated room! And replacing horrible rotten meat! All the while dealing with the most horrible robotic AI voices on offer, watching people glitch their baskets into their legs, and being literally shoved around by customers as they walked away after receiving their items. And there was no escape either – Gray TRIED to get Phil to glitch through the front doors, but he couldn’t. And even if he had, there was nowhere to go – all the customers who got “checked out” were condemned to walk eternally in place in the blackness just outside the doors. Basically, this had all the earmarks of a “secretly a horror game” experience, except it was just a shitty mobile game with shitty mobile assets. 10/10, no notes. XD
4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Very firmly check, yay –
Victor Luvs Alice – Finished up the image alt text and the tags on the sixth post for this week’s Chill Valicer Save update, then queued up those along with some Alice fanart and a Corpse Bride gif set I’d had laying around in my drafts for a while. *nods* Still gotta do my Song Saturday, but that can be done tomorrow when I swap the queue speed back from six posts in one day to just one. :p
Valice Multiverse – Two anon asks queued up before I got my hot chocolate for the night, nice. :) So we’re good there!
*nods* Not bad, not bad at all. :) And now it is time for me to hit the sack and get some sleep -- presuming the rain isn't too loud. O.o We'll see what I'm dealing with come the morning hours! Night all!
