Not only are we plunging into a potentially record-breaking heat wave (which is better than some of the weather going on in other parts of the country, but is still not fun), I'm having to deal with my air conditioner making some VERY LOUD noises (fortunately my parents are willing to get me a new one and transfer this one to the living room so we can use it to cool the house a bit more without sticking a fan in the hallway to redirect cold air from the bedrooms), and my workday wasn't great -- fortunately, I had a pretty productive afternoon to help offset this --

Work – Bit of an annoying day at work, as previously stated – the morning was pretty quiet, with me doing more roster maintenance inspired by online obituaries for the most part, but as soon as lunchtime rolled around, suddenly EVERYBODY wanted a piece of me. I had Easter to put on, I had a QC file to review, I had a question from my boss to answer (which I couldn’t because the thing we use to look up card scans crapped out on us temporarily), I had questions from the processing company to answer – it was rather a lot, and I was glad to get out of there! Not so glad to get into the heat, granted, but blasting my car’s AC on the ride home kept me cool enough.

Oh, and no beanbags today – mostly because it got over 90 degrees where we live, with the humidity making it feel even hotter. Today was DEFINITELY a lounging around in the AC day! And so shall the next few days be, as, again, we’re expected to have an official heat wave with feel-like temperatures over 100 F. Fun. *wince* At least I don’t necessarily have to go anywhere tomorrow?

To-Do List

1. Get in a workout: Check – back on the bike, working my way through two GrayStillPlays compilations (I’m trying to catch up a bit by watching two of the shorter ones back-to-back) –

A) Finished off “I spent the last 4 years breaking bones repeatedly!” Got all the way through the Stair Dismount section (which saw Gray murdering his various crash test dummies against the Titanic, a giant speaker with an eye in it, seagulls, and lasers), and finished off with a return to the “Stickman Dismount” games (which saw Gray getting his sticks blown up a LOT before he got access to the game’s level editor and created the ultimate colon of bouncy sawblade black hole laser pain). A pleasantly painful trip down memory lane!

B) Started “6 Dangerous Experiments You Should NEVER Try…” – a compilation of various janky puzzle games and “destroy the thing” games (I believe I recognized Room Smash from the teaser at the beginning). Currently in the opening Help Me section, which is one of the aforementioned janky puzzle games, where you must drag things in such a way that they exit wherever they are currently and get pulled past a specific line in the world – for example, you must yank a mouse through a cat’s digestive tract until he comes back out the mouth, making the cat vomit. This game is unfortunately a little gross at times, so I’ve been more LISTENING to it than watching it, but hopefully we’ll get past the grossness soon and onto goofier games!

2. Edit Nebby’s Gift Fic: Check – I have given the “Modern!Dan and Kiya go to a museum and talk about wacky Medieval European polearms and the advance of Ancient Egyptian weaponry” fic a once over, cleaning up various bits of description and dialogue and whatnot. It should now be in a fine state for posting on Saturday! :) Hopefully Nebby will like it.

3. Keep up with YouTube Subs: Check – usual two-in, two-out for a Tuesday –

A) First up, from Josh Way, we had “SCREEN TIME: Babes Review!” Which was Josh giving a whole-hearted recommendation of this silly indie comedy about a pair of lifelong friends dealing with the fact that the married one just had a baby, and the single one just ended up pregnant from a one-night stand. With a small digression about how annoyed he was at someone in his row performatively laughing at all the jokes – often before they’d finished because the particular showing he was at happened to have subtitles. XD But yeah, he quite enjoyed the movie as a light, breezy, refreshingly-crass-about-motherhood comedy, and if you’re into that sort of thing, you should endeavor to check it out.

B) And second up, from GrayStillPlays, we had “This cursed space game makes you photograph planets,” aka Gray plays Voyager-19! This is a game where you are an explorer stuck in an extremely poor excuse for a spaceship, officially exploring other planetary systems and taking pictures of potentially habitable planets, unofficially trying to figure out what happened to a particular scientific expedition that disappeared a little while ago so the higher-ups don’t immediately have to report it missing. You have a CRT monitor that gets more and more dead pixels all over it as it succumbs to space radiation; limited power for your navigation system, thrusters, camera, and radio (and less and less each time you wake up from hibernation); creepy files to decrypt; and a bunch of planets that you have to photograph JUUUUST right, otherwise they won’t be accepted. Gray was extremely bitchy about the deteriorating state of his monitor, the clunkiness of the systems he was forced to work with, and the lack of anything trying to devour him – because this was a SPACE game, you see, and everyone always dies in those. XD Though he definitely got his wish at the end. . . Interesting game, made much better with Gray’s commentary – though I can’t recommend it for anyone who might suffer from eyestrain. The monitor gets REALLY messed up as you go on, to the point where you can barely read the logs you are decrypting. I understand it’s for the aesthetic, but come on, let us READ the lore. *sigh* At least I have the TV Tropes article to read. . .

4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check and check, hooray –

Victor Luvs Alice – Got my “Tiny Town Challenge Ideas” post queued up for Wednesday; an audio post of someone imitating Dormouse from A:MR complaining about how he lost his dick when he was “improved” by Hatter for Thursday; and someone’s “Victoria and Emily swap places in Corpse Bride” AU post for Friday! Despite tumblr’s best efforts – for some reason, trying to queue them directly just refused to work. I had to fake editing the posts and select “add to queue” from there. *grumbles* Webbed site. . .anyway, that’s most of the week sorted – I’ll get Nebby’s fic and a Song Saturday into the mix tomorrow!

Valice Multiverse – One anon ask for the queue – a poem of sorts about how the woodchuck in the anon’s backyard doesn’t trust them – and that it is right not to, because the anon plans to put a tiny witch hat on it. Alice’s response (written in the same format) was to point out that the woodchuck would probably retaliate with its impressive teeth, and given both the chance of regular injury AND that of contracting rabies. . .well. As I put in the tags, you might want to wear really thick gloves, anon!

So yeah, that was all pretty good. AND I have a nice day off tomorrow, yay! Plans include working on my Victor Luvs Alice tumblr drafts; playing some Sims 4 (PROBABLY gonna work on the Ministry of Joy nightclub, but haven't ruled out dropping by the Chill Valicer Save); maybe clearing the last couple of videos out of my Watch Later if I can; working some more on "Londerland Bloodlines: Downtown Queensland;" and getting in my workout. I feel these are all achievable goals, but we'll see what the day throws at us. *shrug* Night all!
