Hot As Hell Thursday Back
Jun. 20th, 2024 11:43 pmLike, it was hot enough that we didn't turn the lights on in my office to help keep the room cooler today. Definitely an icky one out there today, bleeeh. And wouldn't you know it, they seal-coated and re-painted the parking lot I normally park in now today, so I had to park in my old, farther-away lot. Not fun! >( And I think I'll have to do the same tomorrow -- good thing that the temperatures are supposed to break a bit tomorrow afternoon! In the form of rain and thunderstorms, of course, but -- yeah. I'll accept that if it means escaping the heat!
As for my day other than that, it was all right --
Work – A fairly quiet return to work – had some issues to deal with (like our processing company putting things in the wrong place; a call with the credit card people that at least resulted in some more RECENT issues getting solved; someone calling about a credit card update at the same time I was trying to have the conference call), but other than that, I spent a lot of time poking around trying to do maintenance stuff and finding ways to entertain myself. *shrug* Better than getting all stressed out in the afternoon, I suppose!
And yeah, no beanbags, not in this heat. Fucking miserable out there. Hopefully this heat/humidity combo lets up soon!
To-Do List –
1. Get in a workout: Check – another night on the bike, another night with the GrayStillPlays compilation “6 Dangerous Experiments You Should NEVER Try…” I have finished off the Room Smash section (with Gray using the crossbow to stop a dance party from being adventurers, a magnet to wreck a bar’s shit so hard that the camera went flying off into the void, and a tornado to destroy a train – though the people inside still valiantly insisted on going to work), gotten through the Kick The Buddy section (Gray less “kicked” the buddy and more “attacked it with eagles, destroyed it with acid, dropped a nuclear bomb on it, then got it sucked repeatedly into a jet turbine), and started what I believe is the Algadoo section (I think that’s what the game is called, anyway – at any rate, Gray destroyed some lives stomping around as a white dinosaur with loads of teeth, and he’s currently in the process of trying to feed an unfortunate person Mentos and Coke for breakfast). We’ll finish off with the last of his inadvisable science experiments tomorrow!
2. Write Gig’s Gift Fic: Check – I read your message about either Ferdy & Lightning or LizJangles working for you, looked back at previous year’s birthday fics, and decided to continue a certain theme. :p And that’s all I say for now, so as not to spoil any surprises. ;)
3. Keep up with YouTube Subs: Check plus – kept up with the Subs AND got in a bonus video (despite a creepy bug crawling around on my desk’s best efforts, eugh) –
A) First up, we had Josh Way’s latest in the Subs – “RAW TAKE: Inside Out 2 Review!” Basically a less-polished “Screen Time,” with him talking about the new sequel from Pixar and how he really liked it, and how he felt Pixar was due for a “good movie” after some bummers (Josh was not a fan of “Soul” – too convoluted for his tastes – or “Elemental” – not convoluted ENOUGH there). He admits that’s not Pixar’s greatest work, but he enjoyed it, and it did hit rather close to him for him, given it’s a movie about a thirteen-year-old girl and her anxieties, and he’s the father of a soon-to-be-thirteen-year-old himself, so. . . But yeah, just him going on about how he feels Pixar needed a movie like this, and he hopes the trend continues. *nods*
B) And second, we had OXBox’s latest – “7 Embarrassing Pieces of Gear We Had to Wear for the Stats!” Mike and Jane talking about those ridiculous pieces of clothing we simply couldn’t pass up because holy hell the stats. Items included the Banana Camouflage and Monkey Mask you get from beating the jokey “Snake Vs Monkeys” minigames in Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater (looks ridiculous and frankly a tiny bit scary, but makes all food taste good and keeps dogs from attacking you, respectively); the Nuka-Girl Rocketsuit from Fallout 4’s Nuka-World DLC (gives +1 Charisma and lets you breathe underwater, but makes you look goofily, inappropriately sexy for serious conversations – ESPECIALLY if you’re playing as Nate); and the Ranger’s Tights from Dragon’s Dogma II, which is a codpiece with fancy lace-up thigh-highs (I am DEAD SERIOUS they showed footage. And somehow these things have amazing defense). Basically, the point of this video is that, when stats are on the line, fashion sense goes out the window. As well it should, because “looking good” should always come second to “staying alive.”
4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check and check –
Victor Luvs Alice – Finished up the post for this week’s Song Saturday, “Yellow” by Coldplay, in my drafts! Mainly talking about how I feel it’s a “Van Alton” (aka Victor/Smiler) song because it gives me vibes of Victor fleeing pleasantly overwhelmed by Smiler’s sunny personality. And also because the song is called “Yellow” and that automatically links it to Smiler in my head. XD I haven’t added it to the actual queue yet – I’ll do that tomorrow to remind myself to swap the queue speed to two posts per day so both Nebby’s birthday fic and the song post.
Valice Multiverse – One anon ask about mail sorting (least important stuff gets burned; middle important stuff gets put back in the mail addressed to them to buy them a couple of days; most important stuff THEORETICALLY gets delivered but actually also usually gets burned) – I chose to interpret this as happening in my “Aperture Wage Slave” verse and have Victor realize that the anon was stopping any potential letters from his parents reaching him. And then thanking them for it. XD Look, it made me laugh! I also dropped a cute bit of fanart I found in the “#american mcgee’s alice” tag into my drafts for later – someone’s picture of the AMA Alice, the Tim Burton Alice, and the original animated Disney Alice all on a ship together, preparing for adventure (with Tim’s Alice carrying Disney’s Alice on her back while AMA Alice peers through a telescope). I just thought it was really sweet. :)
Other: Managed to get the first two messages from Moose answered – I meant to do all four, but I forgot until it was too late. :( Sorry Moose! I’ll do the other two tomorrow – hope your flight goes well! (I’m – pretty sure it’s tomorrow by your time?)
So yeah, that is that. And now it's time for me to head to bed, because I've still got another day of work to get through. Split weeks are weird. :p Night all!
