crossover_chick: Doc snoozing on his couch (BTTF: exhausted)
[personal profile] crossover_chick
Been a bit busier than I'd planned, thanks to having convos going with two internet friends at once in two different places, but I mostly got through everything I wanted to get through on my to-do list --

Work – Another quiet day, for the most part – my talky coworker is dealing with some dental stuff, so she was in a mood about that; there was a funeral happening in the cathedral next door; I found a bunch more transactions that I have to reverse; and we did actually get some phone calls (one wrong number, one credit card update), but other than that, it was pretty much just doing the same roster maintenance shit as I’ve been doing all week. *shrug* What can you do. We’ll see if anything more interesting happens tomorrow!

To-Do List

1. Get in a workout: Check – back on the bike again, pedaling my way through –

A) The end of “I have 8 Sims in one house... Every Life Stage Challenge! - Part 7” by James Turner! Which featured him wrapping up the episode by –

I. Spinning those wheels! Specifically, he spun up “movie night” for the finale’s big family activity, and “boho,” “yellow,” and “photography,” for Silas’s favorite style, color, and hobby! Which won’t matter so much in THIS series, but will matter in the NEXT one I plan to watch…

II. Getting Krystoff and Raoul married in the hallway (though Raoul can’t join the family just yet thanks to size limits – James is going to have to cheat him in later with the help of MC Command Center) and having them have a little science baby together! Baby was a boy, which was named Reuben by the randomizer. :) Last task – checked off!

III. Aging everyone up so that he could finally fulfill the goal of having every life stage represented in his house! And despite some moments of chaos (like Semaj blowing out the candles in the new dining area, but then walking into the greenhouse to become an elder, Krystoff having to put everything on pause briefly to feed a desperately-hungry Scarlett, and Camilo managing to snag a slice of cake midway through the whole parade, forcing the family to make a new one), it all went down reasonably smoothly! So now Semaj is an elder, Krystoff an adult, Pablo a young adult, Sonny and Vivienne teenagers, Camilo a child, Scarlett a toddler, and Silas an infant! And Reuben still a newborn, obviously. :p Full house, w000!

And with that, the challenge is pretty much complete – except for the final family activity, and Semaj’s two final elder tasks, which is to find love with one of his DNA donors and throw a huge family reunion for everybody. And James would LIKE to finish off the house PROPERLY if he could, please. XD So yeah – we’ll see how THAT all goes, and if we get anything like “James plays through the StrangerVille storyline to stop Semaj, Krystoff, and Pablo from being infected” in the final two-and-a-half hours next week. :p Yeah, last episode is going to be shorter than this one my ass, James-of-the-past. XD

B) The entirety of “Severance & the Infinite Sadness” by andewr! This was a video essay on the show, focusing on the characters and how they react to their circumstances and grow as people over the course of the season, with an emphasis on Mark dealing with his grief and depression as an Outie and how he learns to start trying again, and Helly dealing with being trapped as an Innie and how her determination becomes a tool she levers against herself instead of for herself, especially as she and her Outie start really coming to odds against each other. It was some pretty interesting stuff, especially since the opening suggested the whole thing was colored by the creator’s own experiences with depression and feeling like he wanted to hide in his parents’ basement...then evaluating that idea and being “actually, no, there is nothing I would like to do LESS than that.” Basically, I think a lot of the themes of Severance hit him PREEETTY hard. :p But yeah, interesting look at the show, and especially how the characters change and grow and influence each other over the course of the season!

2. Continue editing “Londerland Bloodlines: Downtown Queensland” Chapter 3: Check – Alice and Venus just had a very awkward conversation/argument where Venus accused Alice of being a baby because she’s only twenty and Alice was like “excuse YOU I just murdered a Russian mafia boss and got away with it.” XD But yeah, Venus is not happy that she hired someone so young to pull off the hit, and while she’s willing to honor her agreement with Alice, she made it clear that she’d like Alice to try and do something else with her life. To which Alice was outwardly like “yes, I would like that myself” and inwardly like too bad my circumstances forbid. But yeah, things are a little, uh, tense between them right now. Ah well – time for Alice to head out and get back to the main quest! Those plaguebearers aren’t gonna kill themselves, after all...

3. Keep up with YouTube Subs: Check plus – managed to get in a bonus video from the Watch Later, which was nice –

A) First up, from the Watch Later, we had “10 Things I Wish I Knew When I Started Playing The Sims 4” by Petey Plays It! A set of tips and tricks for people just starting out in the game – or perhaps hoping to make the most of a new save file in the future. :p Notable tips included “remember to use the multiselect option in Sims’ personal inventories so you can click on multiple things to either favorite or discard in one fell swoop” (something that I really need to start doing); “remember that you can form groups or add Sims to groups at any time if you want them to do things as, well, a group” (something that I have taken to doing during parties as it makes life a little bit easier); “if you want your Sims to spend less time doing some stuff – notably showering and sleeping – make sure to always upgrade your furniture and appliances” (Handiness is THE skill to get, I swear); and “always get packs on sale, this game is fucking expensive. Oh, and use creator codes if you want to support your favorite creators (but not me, because I’m not part of the Network and don’t have one).” I think that last one is probably the most useful tip any new Simmer could get – this game is fucking expensive. XD

B) Then second up, from the Subs, we had “Breaking ridiculous records in GTA 5” by GrayStillPlays! Which was basically Gray being forced to do a variety of ridiculous YouTube-Mythbusting-Shorts-worthy stunts for the amusement of his board creators. XD The things he had to complete were –

I. Skydive Through Rotating Helicopter Blades – and they made him turn the helicopter blades on himself before teleporting up to an appropriately-high vehicle and attempting to get through them before they stopped moving without getting murdered. Because they will murder you no matter what if they get half a chance. XD Took him quite a few tries, but he managed to slip through without dying in the end! (And then died the minute he hit the ground below XD)

II. Backflip On A Bike Through A Fire Hoop Over A Wagon On A Moving Train – this one was all about finding the exact right spot on the tracks where he could drive toward the hoop safely (and staying on the train) – the slightest curve could screw him up! And don’t even get him started about the weird see-through tunnels...

III. Longest No-Scope Of A Flying Bird From A Heavy Sniper Rifle (at least 80m) – Gray commented that he wasn’t even good at hitting things when he was using the scope, so this one took a while. Though once he realized bullet drop was a thing and started compensating for that, he bagged his bird – and, after setting up all the ruler props that they’d given him to measure the distance, found that he’d gotten it at about 90m away from his starting point. Nice. :)

IV. End 2 Lives With A Single Jump – a single normal ped jump, that is, not a skydive or anything like that. Gray was tasked with murdering two people sitting on a ledge near some stairs downtown with his jump – and after futzing around for ages trying to get up onto the ledge to jump on them, and discovering he could climb telephone boxes to jump off of, it turned out that the only successful jump was Gray just barreling into them at ground level. XD Who knew?

V. Parachute Land On The Smallest Area In The Game (1 sq cm) – if you’re wondering what that is, it’s the tip of a spike on top of one of the buildings downtown. Gray was half-sure that he’d done this before for a short (and I think I remember seeing it on a preview once?), but as it was on the list, he tried it again. And let me tell you, it was DIFFICULT – mostly because if he put his feet down too EARLY, he’d “trip” on the spike and start ragdolling, while if he put his feet down too LATE, he’d just miss it entirely. After a few unsuccessful tries, though, he got himself lined up and managed to land, with one foot resting atop the spike on its toe. Looked quite impressive when he was done!

VI. Highest Dive Through A Beach Ring – a 33m high dive was set up; a script was put in place so that the ring would teleport a bit every so often so Gray could pull off the perfect dive animation (apparently he’d ragdoll if he tried diving with it directly under him); Gray climbed to the top –

And one shot the challenge while explaining how it worked. Proving that, every so often, our favorite YouTuber chew toy gets EXTRAORDINARILY lucky. XD

VII. End The Most People With A Single Bullet – Gray was provided with 69 clowns to kill all in one go on the local pleasure pier and told to have at. XD And have at he did, climbing to the highest point he possibly could nearby before loading an incendiary bullet into his heavy revolver and shooting it into the middle of the group...before watching them all fall like fiery dominoes. XD He then tried to politely put out the fire and get rid of the burned bodies with a bulldozer, but the game doesn’t like having that many NPCs in one area, so he was defeated by the power of glitches. XD Hey, at least he tried!

VIII. Slay The Most Amount Of People With One Kick/Punch – this one was previously featured in a Mythbusting Short, so Gray knew EXACTLY where to go – a pair of towers in the countryside with four people practicing yoga on them (two to a tower). For some reason, these people are all linked so if you kick or punch one, they ALL go down. Gray demonstrated by hoofing one unfortunate woman in the butt, and everyone collapsed like a house of cards. Very weird, but very entertaining.

IX. Exceed The Highest Top Speed Using Mods – and finally, one that I believe was created just so Alex and company could show off their scripting skills. The top speed Gray had to beat with his vanishing car was 62,578 mph – and on his second attempt at doing the challenge, he hit 621,399 mph. Like, the car and Gray just vanished out of existence at that speed. XD Very impressive, guys, I will admit. :p And it was fun to see a bunch of quickfire challenges instead of the old staples!

4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Eh, check enough – I got the queue speed reset to one post per day on Victor Luvs Alice, so the Thursday and Friday posts will go up on the correct days. Was hoping to get a bit more done (at least figure out my Song Saturday), but that will have to wait for tomorrow, it appears!

And that was my day, with the GSP video taking up lots more time than expected with that write-up! I really gotta learn how to be more concise...but now I need to learn how to get to bed. Night all!
