Happy Ending? Remains To Be Seen
Mar. 1st, 2008 10:53 pmSo, got up at about 9, and by 10 we were off and hauling the computer to Best Buy. Geek Squad member looked it over, told us that it was probably a software conflict (NOTHING was wrong with the computer itself) and managed to update those lousy drivers. I picked up Free Time and the guide, and had my first experience with a Wii (had to kill time while they updated and cleaned out the 'puter). It's oddly complicated -- the controllers make your arms tired.
Pick up the computer once the game actually works, pay, then hit Barnes & Noble. I was hoping to find Rites of Spring, but no luck. I did pick up some new books, though. Dilbert's Guide to the Rest of Your Life and The Spider-Man Handbook.
-OD: *and tentacles* O.o??-
It's basically a little guidebook on being a Spidey-like superhero in the "real" world. Pretty amusing.
-M: That seems like a pretty good day to me.-
*holds up a hand* It did to me too, but when I got home and booted it up -- well, Mr. Geek Squad left the CD in the computer. I don't know if this is why the start-up sequence has changed or if he did something else, but, basically, it's acting like I rebooted it. A brief screen comes up asking me what operating system I want to use, and when I log in, it bugs me about "installing new hardware" -- which is my Lexmark copier/printer/scanner, which I've had for as long as I've had this computer.
-TD: *facepalm* Microchips are more trouble than they're worth. Babbage engines, that's the way to go.-
As for Sims itself -- the game plays again, no doubt about it. I got to know the O'Mackeys of Riverblossom Hills. I also visited Eureka, but not Twin Oaks Park. You know why?
-RPD: Why do I get the feeling I'm not going to like the answer to that question?-
Because, for no apparent reason, the college and downtown have disappeared from Twin Oaks Park.
-M2: Wha??-
I know! My other neighborhoods have their subhoods all in order -- I even visited Eureka's downtown! But for some reason, on the "come on in" screen, the college and downtown options for TOP are greyed out! The shopping neighborhood and vacation destinations are still there, though.
-VD: What on earth is that all about?-
I don't know. I made a post at thesims2, but preliminary reports indicate it's not good. Looks like I may be forced to roll back. Fuck.
-DW: I'd say, "at least it's only the one," but I suspect you wouldn't take that well.-
Well, it's my primary neighborhood! Your daughter is at that missing college! And Marty and Jennifer and April too! What the HELL!
-VD2: Thank God Alice still plays so you can take out your frustrations on that instead of us.-
Yeah, I know. I'm up to Burning Curiosity -- took me a few tries to beat the Mad Hatter and his creepy spiders. *whimpers* I felt bad when he spazzed out.
-TTV: And you have the audacity to call me a fanboy. At least I'm not obsessed with one of the VILLIANS.-
Fandom has corrupted me, yes.
Well, anyway, at least I have some fun new books, and the game does run again. I'll concentrate on figuring out some of the other problems later.
-HD: *eyes Free Time*-
Not until this current mess is sorted out.
-HD: But -- teapots!-
I HAVE a teaset, silly! Remember? The one based off the coffeemaker?
-HD: Still, homemade is always nice. *pats Bernie fondly*-
-D: Can we expect any fanfic out of you tonight? Even Midsummer Found ideas?-
I'll try, but I can't promise anything. I'm tired. *fully intends to sleep til noon tomorrow*
Anyway, two final things: Moose informs me that it's Ron Weasley's birthday today (he's 27), so happy birthday Ron.
And that sound you heard on Friday?
That was the sound of a thousand fangirls squeeing in joy.
Gilgamesh Wulfenbach is simply MADE OF AWESOME.
