( Eighty-Eight Advent: December 14 )
Today was WALL*E day, after a fashion. I got the DVD as an early Christmas gift, so I watched both the film with commentary and the story of Pixar. Both were pretty darn interesting, especially the stuff about Pixar and the relationship with Disney. It's amazing complex. And Pixar looks like a darn cool place to work.
-VD: Maybe that's what you could major in if you return to college. Computer animation.-
Heh, who knows? Might be fun.
I watched most of the other bonus feature stuff earlier. It's amazing how much fricking CREEPY there is in the WALL*E universe. The BnL shorts are funny, but damn they're also kinda unnerving. And two of the deleted scenes. . . . One's the original version of how we found out about A113 -- it was much earlier with an entirely different version of AUTO. It showed a lot more transmissions from Shelby Forthright, and the last one. . . .
Guys, I swear to God, I think he chokes to death in that version.
-OD: *tentacles meep* Great Scott.-
I know. The other was a different version of the Docking sequence, and it featured the early versions of the humans, which were -- They kinda looked like big starfish, honestly. The wall of devolving captains looked quite unnerving. They say they cut this one because it slowed down the movie and the humans were too bizarre, and the original A113 because it was more interesting to keep it a mystery. I think there's also a little corner of their minds that went, "THERE WILL BE KIDS IN THE THEATER AND IF WE SHOW THIS THEY WILL BE TRAUMATIZED FOR LIFE."
There was one nice bit to the original Docking sequence, though -- in that one, both M-O and WALL*E are thrown down a garbage chute after ticking off Original Flavor AUTO. WALL*E saves M-O, and they kinda become partners in crime. I thought that was cute.
Oh, and also? You have to watch the BURN-E short. That poor little welderbot. . . .
In other news, I have updates! I figured I ought to get them out before the move throws us all off-course. In rapid order:
Chapter 10 of "The Gift and the Curse"
Chapter 9 of "When Worlds Collide -- REALLY Collide"
Chapter 10 of "When Worlds Collide -- REALLY Collide"
Yeah, Firefox randomly decided FreeWebTown was okay again. Not sure how it works behind the scenes, but hey, I'll take it!
-VD2: *grin* Excellent work.-
Yeah, now I just want to finish off the Eighty-Eight Advent and the latest chapter of "Cinder-Marty" before the craziness starts.
-DW: Think you'll have enough ideas for the former?-
It's only 88 words per ficlet. I'll come up with stuff.
-TD: What about adding "The Gift and the Curse" to the website?-
I'll do that once we're more settled. Hard to concentrate when I'm not sure about my net access.
-TD: Good point.-
-RPD: Also the reason you're not really tagging into anything, I assume.-
Yeah, though I might do something I can be sure will be short. *pokes at the Nexus*
For now, I ought to get typing.
