crossover_chick: gif with Doc and Marty trying to get out of being written into twisted AUs (Default)

Yeah, we had a few instances of heavy, soaking rain today -- fortunately pretty much all while I was at work or at home, so I didn't have to drive in it much. But it was definitely wet and woolly out there today! *sigh* It has been absolutely MISERABLE the past couple of days, weather-wise, let me tell you. We're supposed to get a bit of relief tomorrow and Thursday, but I'll believe it when I see it. *suspicious squint* Anyway -- here's the daily round-up:

Work – Another quiet day, despite both my coworkers being in (fortunately the chatting wasn’t too annoying, and they both headed out at one point to do some shredding, so that was nice) – I ran the usual morning reports, got through the exceptions (updating people to reflect some recent deaths), fooled around with some roster maintenance, posted some more Easter gifts, and called back one lady who keeps calling us and leaving voicemails about a credit card thing – but every time I try to call HER back, it goes straight to voicemail on my end too. So it’s become a game of perpetual phone tag. *grumbles* Maybe one day we’ll get a hold of her!

To-Do List

1. Get in a workout: Check – another night on the bike, this time pedaling my way through the first half-hour or so of “Oxventure in BALDUR'S GATE 3 | Co-op Multiplayer Baldur's Gate with Oxventure Characters” by Outside XBox! Yes, torn between starting to catch up on all the stuff I’ve missed so far on the Oxventure channel or watching more Baldur’s Gate III videos, I was happily able to split the difference by remembering that OXBox had done a stream a couple of years ago showing off some of BG3 with their OG Oxventure characters. :D So I tracked that down and put it on! Sadly, Jane was feeling unwell at the time of the stream, so we only got Mike and Andy playing – though Jane was kind enough to let Andy control Prudence so all three of the OXBox Oxventurers would be represented. :) And even with only the two guys on the controls, things have been pretty chaotic so far, with such highlights as:

A) Corazon repeatedly pickpocketing Egbert, stealing all his gold and his topaz, with Andy bragging about how freaking easy it was – fortunately for Egbert, he wasn’t able to steal equipped clothing, so Egbert’s fancy hat was safe

B) Andy attempting to pick the lock on the door that leads to Withers’s chamber in the Dank Crypt, going “this will be easy, I have all the bonuses” – and then immediately rolling a critical 1 and forcing Mike to reload the save XD

C) Andy desperately telling Mike not to be rude to Withers when they picked him up, with Mike saying, “it all depends, I gotta roleplay” – fortunately he wasn’t overtly mean, and even gave us a glimpse at the special line Paladins get to answer Withers’s “what is the cost of a single mortal life” question (depends on how virtuous it is, basically)

D) Andy declaring his goal for the stream to get Corazon a really fancy coat and hitting up the merchant in the tiefling camp to try and get one with Egbert’s stolen gold...which resulted in Corazon being striped down to skivvies and boots when Andy tried to literally sell the clothes off Corazon’s back to afford the nicer armor XD (Mike was like “I’m looking forward to the slash fic!” XD)

E) Mike running down to the confrontation between Arabella’s parents and the druids, and getting distracted from the tenseness of the scene by how pettable the bear that one of the druids turned into looked, then going up to try and pet the bear once the cutscene was over...and apparently SOMEHOW starting combat in doing so? O.o The comments suggest it was something ANDY did, but given we couldn’t see what he was doing at the time… At any rate, another save was scummed, and Andy was able to talk his way past the guards

F) Egbert trying to talk Kagha out of murdering poor Arabella with her horrible snake friend, with Andy desperately trying to show Mike the correct dialogue options to use via voting on what he should say (which is apparently a thing you can do in co-op). Egbert’s “I’m a paladin and thus I know justice” line didn’t go down great, but fortunately he got a natural 20 on “spare the child and let her tell everyone of your might” line, and Arabella was successfully saved. AND the chat told Andy that he could dig up some dirt on Kagha, so now he’s committed to doing that, which should be fun!

Good stuff so far – and very much in character for the Oxventure lot, I feel. XD I left it with the gang preparing to see if Nettie could help them with their tadpole problems – we’ll see what happens with that tomorrow!

2. Continue editing “Londerland Bloodlines: Downtown Queensland”: Check – Alice has actually entered Grout’s mansion now, though she only got as far as the front foyer in tonight’s editing session. However, that was far enough to give her a taste of what this place is going to be like, as right off the bat she met one of Grout’s test subjects – a woman laughing maniacally in the corner, who came after Alice with a knife almost the moment she saw her. Alice, fortunately, was able to quickly disarm her, and forwent a fight in favor of sucking a bit of the woman’s blood before returning her safely to her corner. So now she’s topped up on blood and has both a spare knife and an inkling of what’s going on in this place. Tomorrow, she sneaks further into the house, and should encounter the first of Grout’s various audio diaries – which, trust me, she is NOT going to enjoy...

3. Keep up with YouTube Subs: Check plus, with one video from the Subs and one from the Watch Later –

A) First, I caught up with the Josh Way video I missed the other day – “Sacramento Movie Review!” Josh’s thoughts on the new comedy to hit the screens, about two estranged friends coming together and apparently road-tripping to the titular city, facing the fact that they’re becoming proper adults and figuring out how to deal with that and each other. And according to Josh, this is a good movie – not a masterpiece, but a nice, breezy comedy that maybe gets just a little over-the-top near the end. Yes, he almost immediately clocked that it was a vanity project for one of the actors (Michael Angarano), who both wrote and directed the damn thing, but that didn’t really detract from the movie overall – just maybe explained a few things about how one of the characters was written. XD And he related quite a lot to the character Michael Cera played, so that was a point in its favor too. Overall, he said it was sweet, just like the old couple he sat next to who apparently talked over the whole damn thing. XD See it if you’re in the mood for some silly fun, I guess!

B) And second, because it was Tuesday, I of course watched the next compilation of CaFae Latte that I had to catch up with – “CaFae Latte Season 45 - TikTok Compilation!” This season of C. M. Alongi’s Tik-Tok opus included –

I. JC running into an old friend, Pamela, at the grocery story, and learning while catching up that she was dealing with some creeps at her work (she’s a massage therapist, and some guys got a bit insistent about getting a “happy ending” – she said her clientele at her old stripper job were more respectful) – they promptly insisted on getting her a bit more protection from said jerks…

II. Which led into JC bringing Pamela over to Nicole’s coven, just in time to help them eject a bigoted asshole who was insisting that Michael, head of the coven, couldn’t be a proper witch because he was a man. Protective charms in action again! (And yes, the coven was only too happy to help Pamela, skit left off with her deciding on what kind of charm she wanted with Michael.)

III. The follow-up to “JC takes Rethu going Kosher for Passover as a personal baking challenge” ending to the last compilation, with JC getting Bob to invite Rethu into the CaFae to help taste-test the various treats they made with Cyrus’s help (including various matzo-related items and flourless chocolate brownie cookies) and offer them the leftovers. Rethu was very touched by their work, as you might imagine :) (Plus, there was some foreshadowing about something happening between them and Cyrus…)

IV. Erik, JC, Nicole, and Bob dealing with a furious woman appearing in the cafe and demanding to speak to “Allison,” a supposed employee apparently fucking her husband. Problem is, there IS no Allison on the payroll, and after hearing the story – namely, that the wife found her husband’s phone, and when she confronted him, he told her about Allison working at CaFae Latte – Erik told her that it was probably very likely her husband sent her on a wild goose chase so he could buy some time to do something about the mistress. The wife was pretty pissed, but refused Bob’s offer of a truth curse because she still loved her husband – however, she WAS willing to take Nicole up on her offer of a temporary truth potion, and the two headed off to her coven…

V. And twelve hours later, Nicole reported on what happened to Bob, JC, Erik, and Husniya – turned out the cheating husband had THREE other mistresses! And couldn’t even remember all their names correctly – the one who he’d claimed was the employee was named OLIVIA, who had actually applied for a job at CaFae Latte – she just wasn’t hired. Anyway, the wife got a charm from the coven afterward for luck finding a good divorce attorney, and stuffed a bunch of money in their donation box in thanks. This led to JC commenting about how much BS they were willing to take in a relationship, but how cheating was a bit much even for them; Erik assuring Nicole when she worried that she gave JC BS that she was miles above some of the toxic assholes JC dated previously –

VI. Aaaand then one of the toxic assholes walking through the door – Regina, JC’s abusive ex-girlfriend from before they came out as nonbinary. A rather tense conversation followed, with JC laying out all the ways she’d been an abusive bitch before tossing them to the side of the road (including but not limited to cheating on them right after they’d gotten clean for her), and Regina talking about how you have to “break in boys” and how it wasn’t cheating because she’d slept with another woman (because apparently it doesn’t count if there’s no penetration). Things finally came to a head when Regina asked who would want to be in a relationship with JC, they’re pathetic, and that she pitied the new bitch –

Cue Nicole going “hi I’m the new bitch” and PUNCHING REGINA IN THE NOSE. :D Which did bust the woman’s face, but also broke Nicole’s knuckle, sadly. Still, worth it.

VII. And finally, the aftermath of Regina getting punched, with Bob giving JC the rest of the day off so they could take Nicole to the hospital; JC asking Bob if she could do a binding spell on Regina to stop her hurting anyone else (Bob “my pleasure so long as you give me her full name”); and JC taking Nicole to the hospital – and Nicole saying that she punched Regina because she wanted her to know how much JC’s new partner loved them. :) I KNEW that punch was going to be followed by her “I love you” moment! How could it not when the pacifist Buddhist clocked someone for JC? :p But yes, excellent stuff as always! :) Very glad I can find the time to watch it at least once a week.

4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check and check –

Victor Luvs Alice (N Smiler) – Got two things in my queue tonight for the next couple of days:

A) For Wednesday, a reblog of a text post about creating super-self-indulgent AUs, because that is one of the most “me” text posts on the whole site (all of my AUs are soooo self-indulgent, as you have probably guessed)

B) And for Thursday, a reblog of someone’s Poe X Finn X Rey (from the Star Wars sequel trilogy) OT3 gifset, that is really amazingly well done AND features quotes from the book Bonds of Brass by Emily Skrutskie that I associate SO MUCH with my Valicer In The Dark version of my OT3 it hurts. I somehow resisted going on about it in the tags, but I may have to spend some time tomorrow doing a follow-up post to stick in the queue to go with it!

So I’m good for a couple of days, at least – and I know what I want to do for Friday, so I just have to get that done tomorrow! And then figure out Song Saturday...though given that my Friday post is going to be “hey here’s a link to ‘A Murder Shared Is A Murder Thirded’ from the beginning now that the story’s done,” I suppose it should be VITD-related...we’ll see what I come up with!

Valice Multiverse – Had one anon ask to chuck into the queue over here tonight, reminding us all that conspiracy theories always boil down to either “the CIA/FBI actually admitted to doing this” or “antisemitism” – I had Inevitable High School!Victor comment that that felt like something they should learn in history class, while Alice noted their particular school would be more likely to teach the conspiracy theories. Because, you know, tumblr made it a very fucked-up high school. XD But yes, important information to keep in mind, that!

Perhaps not my most productive day, but at least I got stuff done. And now it is time to hit the sheets, for we are not even halfway through the week yet. *sigh* Night all!

"Why have you lost my baker?" "We didn't lose them; they're right there."
...
"Challenge accepted." "GYAH!"

I did much the same when I made cookies for the folks at CVS and the pharmacist said he was vegetarian (so no eggs). I didn't zone out, but I did say "Challenge accepted" lol. Found an egg-less chocolate chip cookie recipe.

And I can't tell you how many times I've watched that punch. 😆
