Not A Total Waste Of A Saturday
Jun. 12th, 2010 11:40 pmGot my shot, which was pretty much just an in-and-out thing. Also went to the clinic where we're getting our doctoring to get my form properly signed and such. This appears to be the last of the immunization bullshit, thank God.
While we were up there, we visited the strip mall nearby. Hit Panera Bread for a midmorning -- well, honestly, it was just plain MORNING, we were there at 8 -- snack. I had a Chocolate Chip Muffle, which is basically just a muffin top. You know, like in that one Seinfeld episode. Doesn't look like they practice "pop the top, ditch the stump" though. :p Then Mom and Dad went to TJ Maxx while I hit Barnes & Noble and FYE. Got a book at B & N -- My Blind Date Went Blind! True Stories of Dates Gone Wrong. It looked intriguing. I'm enjoying it okay so far, though some of the stories highlight just how weird the storyteller is, as well as their date. (Oh, and the titular story isn't as bad as it sounds -- apparently the gal's date had some sort of freakout and got hysterical blindness briefly.) At FYE, I got three things -- first, DVD copies of Young Frankenstein and Dracula: Dead and Loving It. I have both movies on VHS, but I was seduced by extras for the former, and the idea of a better picture for the latter. (The VHS copy has some problems near the midpoint -- not bad enough to make it unwatchable, but it's still a pain in the ass.) Plus "Dracula" has a commentary, so that's nice. And second:
I got me an American McGee's Alice poster.
I was stunned when I found their poster section and saw the two Alice posters. I'd never expected to see those in a store! But there they were. I almost didn't get one because I am severely lacking in wall space. Then Mom pointed out I could hang Alice on the back of my door. So I bought one -- it looks like this. Unfortunately, I STILL have nowhere to put it, as I'd forgotten my signed BTTF jacket is also on my door. Hmmmm.
-TTV: You really need a bigger room.-
What I need is a room I can just dedicate to all my fan stuff. Then I could hang up all my posters -- I'm sure I still have a Girl Genius one kicking around here, and I want a Corpse Bride one at some point. Not to mention make some real displays with my minimates and such. *sigh* Someday, someday. . . .
Anyway, so while I still strongly disliked having to get up so early, the day wasn't a total loss for me. But now I'd better get going, as I hear thunder outside. Don't want to lose power before posting!
