crossover_chick: gif with Doc and Marty trying to get out of being written into twisted AUs (Default)
Finally got a chance to watch Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs tonight. And you know what, I liked it. It's an incredibly goofy movie, but it also KNOWS it's an incredibly goofy movie. And it embraces that goofiness. The people who made this basically said, "The core plot of this movie is ridiculous. Nothing to do but run with it and try and make it as fun as possible." I liked Flint -- he's an interesting character. You get the feeling he never quite made it past early awkward teenagerhood. Hell, in a lot of ways, he's still just a kid. But you can't help cheering him on. And his romance with Sam was cute and awkward. I was totally with him every time she said something technobabbly, then tried to cover it up with ditziness: "No, the other way! That's the cool way! That's why he likes you!"

Oh, and Mr. T is in this movie, as a cop. And Neil Patrick Harris in a small role as a monkey. And Bruce Campbell as the villain. So yeah, if you want to hear some famous voices in some weird, weird roles, go rent this thing.

As for other things -- work was busy, and the sporking continues apace. I should have it done by tomorrow, Sunday at the latest.
