Mall Trip, Mall Trip
Aug. 11th, 2010 11:38 pmAnd "Cinder-Marty," of course: Have a Chapter 7.
As for the mall trip, it was rather surprising. I got up there around 10, went for a browse around Borders, then headed up to visit Newbury.
Only to find them moving store locations.
Not far, you mind, just to a different place on the third floor, but it did mean that they weren't open. I was rather unmoored for a bit -- what the hell was I supposed to do with my sudden glut of free time? Whenever I'm on a mall trip, if it's not to see a movie the majority of my time is spent in Newbury Comics. There's always something interesting to see.
As it went, I ended up killing a little time browsing Hot Topic (no AMA T-shirts, boo), then I had my lunch at Subway before heading up to Dave & Buster's. Fortunately, I soon discovered Wednesdays are half-price game days, so I refreshed my card a bit and went to town. I discovered the reason I now suck even worse at Guitar Hero -- the Beginner mode, where you just strum, has disappeared. Once I realized I had to actually match the fret colors, I started doing a bit better. Not much, but I actually made it through a couple of songs. I also did a bunch of games where you can win tickets. After I accumulated quite a lot, I turned most of them in for a novelty cup with a straw that snakes around it. It's pretty neat -- I had my drink with supper in it, and it's fun watching the liquid snake up through the straw.
After I left Dave & Buster's, I headed to Dairy Queen and got myself a Mini Oreo Cookie Jar Blizzard -- Oreo cookie pieces, cookie dough chunks, and chocolate in vanilla soft serve. Yum yum. Then after that it was back to Borders to see if there was anything I wanted to buy -- I found the latest Wallace and Gromit short, along with the art book for "How To Train Your Dragon." So, all in all, a good day out.
-VD2: When do you think Newbury will be opening up again?-
Actually, I may have missed the grand reopening by a single day. >.< I'm planning a second trip up there later this month, so I'll check it out then. Maybe this weekend I'll ask for a ride up to the one closer to our house.
Anyway, not too much else to report -- though the Nostalgia Critic has done an absolutely AWESOME thing regarding the Animaniacs. :D If you were a fan of the show, watch this. It's truly amazing. :D
And now, I have a tag to answer -- later!
