The Storm. . .
Nov. 12th, 2013 10:04 pmAlthough in my case, it wasn't rain, but rather snow flurries. This "Arctic front" is proving to be a real kick in the balls. Nothing stuck, thankfully, but it was still cold and miserable and just all-around blaaaah. Fortunately I had BTTF and hot chocolate to get me through it.
Today, of course, is probably the most important date in all of Backie-dom: The date that is featured in all three movies! Yes, Part III's showing is just footage from Parts I & II as a pre-credits sequence to get everyone back up to speed after Part II ended on a cliffhanger, but hey! We have two movie climaxes, and about a hour and twenty minutes worth of things happening! (Estimate based on me watching the scenes from 11:30 A.M. to 12:57 P.M., then subtracting those seven minutes for pauses, disc changes/loading, and getting lunch.) So basically watching all of this stuff took up the same amount of time as Corpse Bride This tickles me for goofy reasons. :P Anyway, allow me to favor you with quotes -- two since it's such an important day:
Doc: *hugging Marty* In about 30 years?
Marty: *hugging Doc and looking near tears* I hope so!
Doc: *thinking his friend needs reassurance on the whole 'time travel' thing* Don't worry! As long as you hit that hook with the connecting wire at precisely 88 miles per hour the instant the lightning strikes the tower. . . *pause, shrug* Everything will be fine.
I've always liked that moment -- both heartfelt, heartwarming, and has just a bit of comedy to it as well. Doc's near-rhyme that goes pear-shaped at the end always makes me smile.
Doc: *reacting to Marty grabbing him after just seeing him vanish* YAGH!
Marty: Calm down Doc, relax, it's me, it's Marty!
Doc: *looking around frantically* No! It can't be! I just sent you back to the future!
Marty: Yeah, you did Doc, but I'm back. I'm back from the future!
Doc: *astonished* Great Scott!
*Doc falls over in a dead faint*
And that's the perfect ending/beginning linking the two sequels. I mean, just the expressions on Doc's face. . . XD
Also, while we're here, couple points of trivia I noticed:
-->Marty from Part I drives RIGHT IN FRONT of Biff from Part II while taking Lorraine to the dance. Biff could have REALLY wrecked the plan if he hadn't been so focused on girly pictures.
-->The lightning strike looks more -- blue? -- in Part II. O.o I have no idea why.
Anyway, been rereading some fav BTTF fiction and stuff like that in honor of the day -- did manage to keep up with my social media and RPing, though. Brought Dee out to answer my friend Ael's thread. Thought about bringing out Doc, but I couldn't come up with a question, and considering my pair are supposed to be versions that got yanked out of the timeline before the trilogy even happened, the date's not quite as important to them. Dee, however, is a full-trilogy DeLorean, and Captain Jack's situation in the Nexus would catch her eye, so. . . I may try to have either Doc or Marty ask something for the anniversary of Part II, though. November 22nd, if you're curious.
As it is, I'm falling way behind on tumblr, so I gotta attend to that and my Dee thread. Later, and may your lightning never strike twice but always strike true!
