A Silent Hill Kind of Lazy
Nov. 25th, 2016 11:16 pmI almost put "Saturday" in that title, but then I remembered -- no, it's FRIDAY! That's the only problem with long weekends -- they throw off my sense of time. Everything suddenly feels like one long rolling Saturday. XD Can't say I mind THAT much.
Anyway, as you might guess from the title, today has been dominated by Silent Hill! To whit:
-->Watched the end of Helloween's Silent Hill LP -- he got the Good+ ending, yay. While I don't think the game is really all that scary myself, it does have its fair share of disturbing moments, and the plot behind it is really "guh." The horrors people are capable of. . . Good game, even if it is kinda potato-quality these days. Helloween still thinks of it highly, and mentioned he considers 1 and 3 his favorites with the evil culty stuff, and tooted his own horn a bit about his SH3 LP.
-->Which led to me deciding, "Hey, why NOT check out the SH3 LP?" So I did! Did the first couple of sets -- Helloween sounds oddly quiet compared to his more recent videos (then again, first video of said LP was uploaded in 2011 -- old Helloween with older equipment), but he's still giving ridiculous nicknames to the monsters. One is apparently made of bacon. XD SH3 really drops you into the creepy with very little warning -- feel it could have benefited from perhaps a bit more of Heather's "normal" life before going all Otherworld -- but it's still looking interesting. Certainly much worse ways for me to spend my time!
-->I also went on the TV Tropes page for Silent Hill. . .which led to a bit of wandering around as there's a general franchise page as well as pages for each entry in the series. So I saw that, Silent Hill 1, Silent Hill: Shattered Memories (a weird "reimagining" of the first game), and Silent Hill: Book of Memories (an RPG-style dungeon crawling that happens to use SH mythos for its monsters and such). As you might imagine, lost a lot of time on there. ^^; So much that between that and starting the I didn't actually end up playing Sims 4 today. Whoops. I guess there's no law saying I have to -- maybe I'll catch up on that tomorrow. Just felt like too much of a mental shift between creepy games and the happy cartoony world of the Sims.
-->And I've been listening to SH music as I catch up on tumblr. As you do. (Seriously, though, games have a fantastic soundtrack, check 'em out. They're not even all creepy!)
Fortunately I did get some productive stuff done as well today -- some more edits on Chapter 6 of "Remembering You" (with a big romantic moment, aawww), and my driving lesson (took Mom up to one of the local libraries since she had to get some movies she'd ordered, then we went around some old familiar roads so I could get some proper practice in). And I'm currently doing the RP thing, as I generally do late at night -- though my focus still isn't great. Okay, maybe there's another problem with long weekends -- more getting lost in TV Tropes and the like and forgetting there's other things I want to do. More reasons why I want either Multiple Man's power or the ability to turn back time by like an hour or so every so often. . .
But I ain't getting either of those anytime soon, so it's time to buckle down and get back to work. Night all!
