Surprisingly Improved Friday
Jan. 4th, 2019 10:56 pmDecent ride in, and the day just wasn't nearly as stressful as the last two have been. Possibly because I decided to zero in on a few tasks to get done -- namely, a few bits and bobs in my inbox, and making at least SOME headway with the mail. My coworkers in the back ended up chipping in a bit there -- helping me get it all open and organized into which campaign it pertains to. I even got a few gifts on! Not as many as I was hoping, but it's a start. Chipping away at it all one bit at a time. . .
And then, near the end of the day, after I helped a guy on the phone change his e-mail address in our system, my boss dropped by and said I ought to check my e-mail for a surprise. I did, and didn't see anything -- until I noticed my junk mail had something in it.
Turns out he and my two other coworkers of the moment got me a $50 Dave & Busters e-card to thank me for, uh, basically tackling the front office and all the work by myself. And, because buying a $50 card gets you $10 of Free Play for yourself, my boss got one of those and forwarded it onto me. So, yeah, $60 worth of Dave & Busters chips for the taking there. I -- was honestly kinda floored. After a couple of days feeling like I was being driven into the ground, it was nice to be reminded that I am appreciated. (I mean, it would also be nice if that appreciation took the form of an official raise, but for now I'll take what I can get.) I'm not planning on going to the mall this weekend (supposed to be icky, and besides the $10 card isn't usable until the 7th), but it's looking like a viable option when we hit the three-day weekend Martin Luther King Jr. day brings. . .
And, on top of that, we had a new movie to watch tonight -- Rampage! A fun "monsters destroying everything" movie starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. I first learned about this movie from playing the Dave & Buster's arcade game based on it. Which is why I was startled to learn that the movie itself was adapted from an earlier game! In the original Rampage games, you played a human mutated into a horrible monster who went around smashing up buildings and eating people. The movie switched this out for plain mutated animals, but there was still a lot of building smashing and eating people. A bit gory for my mom, I think (there's a wolf-monster who MESSILY eats a group of people sent to deal with him), but still a fun ride. The Rock makes great popcorn action flicks. :)
There was also a Doom (2016) set from Helloween! Who is still Sickoween, sadly, but really wanted to get a video out, so he gave us 20 minutes of him owning demons in various messy ways. XD I'll take it -- it was a good follow-up to the movie. :) (Still don't know what's going on with The Sim Supply -- I should look him up on Twitter, he has one. Hope he's not sick too. *checks* Nopes, looks like he's just been busy. Doing videos for his other channels, it seems -- fair enough!)
I also got my writing done -- another solid chunk of Chapter 12. I'm still thinking it might turn into Chapters 12 and 13 -- Barkis REALLY feels like he should have his own chapter. I guess we'll see how I do with the forest section. If I make it just a skoosh longer. . . We'll see. I'll manage something.
And I completed my ValiceMultiverse queue -- one long multipart ask that I condensed into one through the power of copy-paste, and a couple of thread replies. Nothing too major while still filling up the queue. Now, of course, I have to tackle my inbox, and balance out anything happening on my main tumblr -- actually, still have to do the Saturday queue over there too. . . Better get on that, then! Night all!
