Quite Decent Monday
Jan. 7th, 2019 11:19 pm-->Yes, I did get my coworker back! Admittedly, she was kept rather busy by some other stuff, but it was just nice to have someone there to take on a few tasks I couldn't and answer the phone when I was busy!
-->I also got in some more gifts, and made a good stab at getting ID numbers for a bunch of others so I can finally get them on. Coworker's going to help me with that tomorrow so we can get these checks cleared once and for all.
-->Received some interesting news -- one of the old bishops of the Diocese died recently, and his funeral happens to be this week. As a result, the Diocese is closing early Wednesday, and will be closed all day Thursday. So, uh, I have another shortened week! Already planning on starting Burial At Sea, the DLC for BioShock Infinite, and getting Emmett and Nikal's house in Sims 4 sorted.
-->Traffic has not be too miserable lately -- the main drag was backed up this evening, but I've seen it much worse. We'll see what happens tomorrow, though -- we're expecting some snow/rain overnight, so the roads aren't gonna be great in the morning. *wince* Might want to leave a little early. . .
-->Got another chunk done on Chapter 12 of "Fixing You" -- upon another look at the current chapter, it appears the split between the introductory forest section and the Barkis church section occurs roughly in the middle of the chapter. So yeah, this is definitely looking like Chapters 12 and 13 now. That makes at least twice I've split a chapter into two in this story. . .I think all the other areas are split up how I think they should be, though, so hopefully it's the last time. At any rate, introduced the spooky forest, and am on the verge of introducing a horrible enemy! :D
-->Watched a few things on YouTube:
A) A video from Mike of OXBox about games that might not be on your radar for 2019 but you should be excited for. I'm particularly excited for The Sunken City, which I believe my man Helloween will probably LP, and Psychonauts 2 -- yes, apparently this is officially a thing now! I never actually played the original game, but I watched a full LP of it and thought the characters and everything were fantastic. :D And actually, now that I have some money waiting on Steam. . . I'll wait until a summer sale, though. Especially since I've got a game that's been sitting in my list for THREE YEARS waiting to be played. (This year, Fallout 4! I promise!)
B) A new set of Splatterhouse (2010) from Helloween! Full-size too, so he must be feeling better. We had a house with a mouth and a heartbeat, more enemies to impale on spikes in gruesome yet hilarious ways, an elevator sequence that called back to go old Splatterhouse 2, and a fight with West's enhanced ape before being thrown through another portal. Also multiple instances of Failoween (his timing was off a lot of this set -- poor guy), and some audio desync near the end (not sure what happened, but it was a little offputting). The usual "so gory it loops back around to funny" goodness. :)
C) The latest Atop The Fourth Wall episode -- it was a short one about the latest "Godzilla, King of Monsters" issue, so I went ahead and watched it. Comic is slowly getting better, with some actual humanizing moments for the, uh, humans. But there's still a reliance on terrible, over-explained jokes, the monsters are still background characters in their own comic, and not a lot actually happens. Still, I'll take whatever improvement I can get over the earlier issues. And next week's offering promises to be interesting. . .
-->Got my Sims update for the week completed, yay~ Always nice to stay a little ahead of the queue.
And now I just have to do the usual rounds with my inbox! So yeah, pretty solid start to the week. We'll see how the rest of it goes, but -- yeah. Hopefully this is a good sign. Night all!
