Fairly Shit Monday
Feb. 25th, 2019 11:17 pmI mean, I kinda hoped it wouldn't be too bad, even though I knew I had a big GL looming, but -- well, it turned out to be another day where I was having trouble getting stuff done because everybody else wanted my attention for something. Namely people on the phone, who were upset for a variety of reasons, many of which I emphasized with but could do nothing about. And of course my coworker was complaining about everything again, which -- I know you have a lot on your plate, but so do I, and constantly dragging me into your bitching is not helping EITHER of us!
*deep sigh* Oh, and it's been super windy all day, to the point where we had a power outage this evening -- right when I was taking my shower, in fact. So that was fun. It fortunately didn't last as long as they said it might (initial estimates ranged from restoration at 10:30 tonight to 8 tomorrow morning), but we still had to eat a lukewarm supper (and we're lucky it was THAT warm) and I didn't get a chance to make my breakfast muffins. Fortunately, Mom had made banana bread earlier, so I'll have some of that in the morning instead. Been a bit, and she makes the good stuff, so -- still. I was seriously worried I was going to lose my entire evening. Fortunately not, and I was able to make good on my to-do list:
-->Writing more on Chapter 16 of "Fixing You" -- starting up the next boss fight! The Conglomeration is back, and it's time to kick its ass! Victor and Alice are in prime fighting form, and I'm looking forward to using Victor's greater array of weapons on the damn thing. . .and hey, maybe I can slip in a last-minute addition of the Sketchbook! They are in the Van Dort house, after all. . .or Houndsditch. Same difference. :P
-->Watching the latest Sim Supply videos -- another episode of the "James plays StrangerVille with Romeo giving him clues on how to proceed" (his sim has found the secret lab, and has gathered enough evidence about the mysterious goings-on to make a dossier -- perhaps said dossier can score him a keycard INTO the lab), and a video about James's true feelings on the pack (he likes it a lot, but he's not sure the story-driven nature of it truly fits The Sims 4 -- he'd prefer stuff like this to be its own spin-off, like The Sims 2 [blank] Stories games, or The Sims Medieval for The Sims 3. I agree insomuch as it was having a pre-determined story that I think put me off the pack a little bit at first, but I'm starting to get into it, watching his vids).
-->Watcing the latest Helloween Metro Exodus set -- lots of tromping around the wasteland, avoiding horrible zappies (apparently if you stand still with your light off, you shan't die if they come near), talking with people (the villagers tend to be a little less horrible if you aren't pointing a gun or flashlight at them, and one guy actually doesn't buy into the cult at all -- he's only around because his son is part of it and refuses to leave), murdering bandits (Helloween actually managed STEALTH for a while! Not a long while, but it happened), raiding all the things (Hells found his way into a nice workshop with tons of stuff to loot, and upgraded his shotgun to a two-barrelled beast), and retrieving a teddy bear from a demon (which was -- much easier than I anticipated -- just shoot the thing a couple of times and pick it up). He says the game is enjoyable, but bemoans the lack of spooky in such an open world. Personally, I think a partially-irradiated Russia is quite spooky enough, but eh. We'll see if the game gets scarier as it goes on.
-->Getting my latest Sims 4 posts all sorted, yay -- Wednesday is all ready to go! Now I just have to remember to change the queue to three tomorrow. . .
Oh -- and I didn't mention yesterday that I played a bit more of BioShock Infinite: Burial At Sea Chapter 2, did I? Not that much happened -- sent Elizabeth sneaking around to get the parts she needs to repair the Lutece device. Successfully scavenged the cathode tube from a vending machine, but ran into trouble with multiple guard turrets in the bathysphere service bay while looking for a CO2 scrubber. Ended up dying before I could heal and now I have to repeat that section over again. *grumbles* What I get for being stingy with Peeping Tom, I suppose. . .will have to come up with a better plan of attack this weekend.
For tonight, though, it's time to empty out the inbox and hit the sheets. Hopefully the power stays on through the night. . . Keep your fingers crossed, everybody. Sleep tight.
