Slowly Clouding Sunday
Apr. 7th, 2019 11:08 pmIn the sense of the weather, not in the sense that it was a bad Sunday -- the clouds started rolling in this afternoon, as we're expecting rain and cooler temps tomorrow. *sigh* On the plus side, though, it was still decently warm today, and I still managed to get in a walk -- this time with the whole family up at the local park! (Well, sort of -- I'm a very fast walker and I badly outpaced them today XD) So that was nice. Especially as it seems like we're looking at a whole week of fairly icky weather and having to stay indoors. *sigh* I'll fully admit I'm a homebody for the most part, but I like being able to get outside for quick bursts, at least! And have my windows open for fresh air. Meh, New England springs. . .
Vast majority of my day was taken up with YouTube videos -- to whit:
-->Two videos from the Outside XBox crew! One about red shirts in sci-fi video games; aka those minor characters slated to die to prove The World Is Dangerous or The Villain Means Business -- one unfortunate from Gears of War was actually named RED SHIRT! Plus we also had the classic form of them in the form of Ensign Everts, saddled with accompanying the three main stars of the show in a Star Trek video game from the 90s. And one being an hour-long livestream of the XBox trio attempting an escalation mission in the Columbia level of Hitman 2. It went -- poorly. Mostly because it was usually Mike or Jane on the controls. Andy managed to get them through the first level, but things came to a grinding halt on the second when Jane and then Mike took over. XD To be fair, this was partially because of peer pressure -- things like the audience baying for Jane to throw a screwdiver into someone's head, or Mike to make a pile of bodies to electrocute in the starting room (one of the deaths in the second level had to be by electrocution, and Mike was accidentally luring in ALL the guards, plus a waiter). But also to be fair, Mike with his usual "let's cause as much chaos as possible" attitude toward Hitman didn't need the help to bring things to a halt. XD Andy did SO MUCH FACEPALMING. . .
-->Two Bloodlines-themed videos! The first being a short one showing off some of the reactions NPCs in the original game have to a Nosferatu showing up, and the resultant dialogue options. Fat Larry's furious rant at the Nossie for scaring him was the best. XD And the second being an interview with some of the developers of the upcoming sequel shortly after they unveiled the release trailer. Brian Matsoda, who helped write most of the first game and is a narrative director on this one, seemed so uncomfortable sitting in the hot seat. XD I don't know if he actually WAS -- he answered questions pretty smoothly -- but he just had that look about him. But everyone reiterated about how they're all fans, and about how Hardsuit Labs was so keen to make this video game, and how they think the voice cast is amazing and people will have fun with it. . . Damn it, I really want this sequel to be good. Hopefully they'll release some of the demo footage the press got to see at some point! The trailer is awesome, but give me some actual gameplay, plz~
-->And one Helloween video, featuring his latest set of Secret of Mana 2! And some flickering at the beginning because, as he put it, YouTube is a hot bastard mess. *sigh* Not too horrible, though, which is good. Our group of three heroes, after having their shit continually wrecked by cockatrices, tadpoles which grew up into annoying lizard creatures, and jellyfish with the ability to heal themselves and their companions, managed to find their way off the erupting hell island via friendly giant turtle. They finally made it to their original destination, Valsena, and got the skinny from the King about the location of the other Mana Stones and spirits. And then Helloween proceeded to get a bit lost trying to get them to the nearest via the turtle. XD And then they had to fight their way through a lot of high-level enemies, nearly losing Carlie twice and prompting Helloween to complain about how much better they'll finally be after their class changes. :p Good stuff, as always.
I also did some gaming myself -- more Fallout 4. I've finally made it OUTSIDE the Vault, and back to what was once Victor's home neighborhood! Which is now a burnt-out wreck, as you might imagine from nuclear devastation. Victor's reunited with Codsworth, his robot butler from before the apocalypse, and done a TON of looting at my command. I'm carrying around so much random junk it's not even funny. XD I also discovered that you can grill radroaches, so -- yay? XD He also looks rather sharp in a Vault-Tec labcoat, I've discovered, though I've picked up a few other options for him to wear. Might switch back to the standard jumpsuit before wandering back out into the wastes, though -- better damage resistance. I also swapped controls from the keyboard to a controller, and I find the experience to be much improved, at least movement-wise. It might be that I'm just USED to the controller by now, given I've been using it for the entire BioShock series, but still. Think I'm gonna be sticking with it as I proceed further into the wasteland.
And I got some more writing done on Chapter 18 -- just some catching up on what's happening Downstairs and Victor being pretty much officially welcomed into the Liddell clan. :) It's a sweet moment. I'm about three pages off from the end now, so if I keep up this pace, I'll finish JUST in time for posting on Thursday -- wish me luck!
Right now, though -- oooh, can't get to EVERYTHING in the inbox. *wince* Bit too late for that. But I'll get the RP comments sorted, at least, they're short. Fortunately I just got my queues on tumblr sorted too. . .I'm gonna blame this delay on needing to bake muffins earlier and just get to it. Night all!
