Happy Birthday Alice!
May. 4th, 2019 11:22 pmHave a silly pic I took of my dolls for tumblr XD And I got a present when I finally got onto my computer this afternoon -- Firefox releasing a fix for yesterday's nonsense with the addons. Back to normal with my stuff, which I deeply appreciate. Though it meant having some catching up to do from yesterday -- mainly webcomics. I am suddenly glad that the majority of the things I read are Monday-Wednesday-Friday updates!
It's been kind of a scattered day, though -- not helped by the fact that I ended up spending my morning cleaning my room, as I hadn't given it a proper clean in two weeks (one planned "vacuum only" day, one "shit I'm sick let me just dust a couple of things and vacuum" day). I didn't get online until 2 PM, and THEN I ended up going out at 4:45 for a walk to take advantage of warm temperatures and a brief break (sort of -- it got to looking like rain again really fast) in the constantly gloomy weather, so. . . Yeah, I'd PLANNED to play some Sims 4 today, but that didn't happen. I'm still lagging behind in a few areas, including getting my next "Scenes From Secundus" story up -- though, to be fair, part of that is my own dumb fault in deciding one of my celebratory acts for the birthday should be rereading my favorite chapter of "Fixing You" -- Alice taking Victor to Wonderland for the first time. If you're wondering why that's dumb, it happens to be the longest chapter in the story. What can I say, I got excited!
I did get a few things done, though:
-->Actually got a chance to watch the latest Atop the Fourth Wall episode (I was about six minutes in when the certificate crapped out last night and Firefox wet the bed) -- the Batman Forever movie adaptation. It's a pretty awkward and bad comic, as you might guess -- though Linkara had some interesting thoughts on the character arc Batman experiences through all four of the 90s movies, with him moving from a "hero" focused mainly on vengeance for his parents to a true hero who wants to help people. It's neat stuff. And we're finally getting back into the Contest of Champions stuff again, which is good.
-->Also got a chance to watch two OXBox/OXtra lists -- one about bosses in video games that you could only run from (did you know there was a Ratatouille game? The boss in question is Chef Skinner); and one about embarrassing achievements (such as getting killed in Prey by deliberately sticking your head in helicopter blades, or accidentally discarding an extra life in the remastered Crash Bandicoot games). Always amusing~
-->I also rewatched some Alice stuff in honor of her birthday -- two short videos showcasing her weapon idle animations from the original American McGee's Alice, and one longer video showing off all the special abilities of her various dresses in Alice: Madness Returns (both story-unlocked and DLC). Fun little blasts from the past, and the former got me thinking about how those idle animations would work if you had a Victor there with Alice. . . Future Forgotten Vows Fridays? :p
-->And I got some writing done -- working on editing a snippet of Londerland Bloodlines I wrote earlier, which is Alice POV so it also counts toward her birthday. :p It's her talking with Mercurio about feeling torn about wanting to save Victor from his blood addiction because it's messing with his head, while also wanting to keep him at her side forever -- because, you know, she's in love. Mercurio's advice is basically going to consist of, "keep him because a) I can still think of LaCroix as a jerk while blood-bonded to him, b) he's head-over-heels for you too, and c) if you don't bond him, some other vampire without his best interests in mind is probably gonna." So yeah, that's fun. Even as it makes me want to replay Bloodlines. Too much I want to do, and too little time. . .
Which is ESPECIALLY true tonight, as I actually have to go to bed a little earlier than I might normally do so. Not only do we have bowling tonight, Mom and Dad bought us tickets to a charity breakfast raffle thing a while back that's apparently tomorrow. I would have appreciated a touch more notice than last night's "oh hey this is happening on Sunday." *sigh* Maybe I'll just take a moment and update "Scenes from Secundus" on Sunday itself. . . for now, time to wrap up what I can. Hope you all had a good May the 4th! Night all!
