Unexpected Restaurant Friday

If you're wondering what the hell I mean by that -- I had a meeting today with my director, one of our vendors, and one of the people helping with our capital campaign, which included lunch after they'd gone over all their stuff regarding mailings and where we want to be with numbers and all of that. I'm used to "part of or all of office going out to lunch" meaning going to the pizza place nearby. But nope, we ended up going to an Italian restaurant deeper in the city -- after, uh, three tries because the same place also owns a deli and a bar in the same area, and we weren't sure which one was which. :p Felt a little out of place there -- it was on the fancier side, and didn't serve anything non-alcoholic that wasn't water on the drinks side. And almost all of the menu items were in Italian. I ended up finding which one was Chicken Parmesan based on the description and ordering that -- decent enough food, I gotta say. And decent enough meeting too -- took up a solid chunk of the day. And then I spent my afternoon getting on some gifts I've been meaning to clear up, so that was nice. Still got plenty of stuff waiting for me on Monday, but -- well, that's Monday.

Evening's been all right -- hell, evening was the best part of the day, weather-wise. The clouds broke up and the temperatures actually warmed up to "seasonable" from "you'd be forgiven for thinking we'd skipped to late October." As for things accomplished:

-->Got Mom's Mother's Day card, so she's all set there

-->Wrote another chunk on "Secundus 2," reworking the gang entering the Palace Saloon and encountering the characters there. Including the three old timers, who don't have many nice things to say, and Jennifer, who does. :p

-->Watched a couple of Call Me Kevin videos -- one on the origins of Jim Pickens (he started out as Kevin's PC in an online GTA game, which -- given his current personality, is pretty much an ideal origin; then progressed through a brief stint of "killer who kills other evil people -- litterers are evil" in Sims 3 before hijacking Kevin's Sims 4 videos from their intended star, Urp, and becoming the cult-leading monster we all know and love), and one on Kevin playing Game Developer Tycoon (his company was Microsoft, run by a character named Shit, and he made incredibly silly versions of popular games, reasoning that if he's gone back in time like the game's flavor text suggests, he can make real money suing all the original creators XD His company had some lean years with Halo 3 and Fortnite, hit a hot streak with the Call of Duty series, tanked again when he made too many sequels, gained a MASSIVE amount of money from Candy Crush, tanked again with the sequel, then clawed their way back from bankruptcy with a Harry Potter game). Good stuff, even if it's only a tiny fraction of the videos that have made their way into my Watch Later queue this week. @.@

And now it's time to sort out my comments in the inbox and see where the night takes me. We're doing the bowling thing tomorrow, so can't stay up too late, but I'm sure I can amuse myself for a little while. Night all!
