crossover_chick: Victor leaning over to look at a blue butterfly in a glass jar (CB: i has a happy thing)
Plus Huey Lewis and Claudia Wells, from our beloved BTTF! I still think it's amusing they share a birthday when one's Marty's apparent favorite singer from his favorite band, and the other plays his girlfriend in the first movie and the Game. XD (Well, okay, in the Game she plays Alternate Jennifer who is not dating him anymore, but makeouts still happen as part of his plan to get demerits, so. . .)

This morning was all about a trip to go and get Dad's birthday present -- an outdoor thermometer so he can always quickly check the temperature. We had to go to two stores to get it (Home Depot ended up having a terrible selection, but the manager on duty suggested Ace Hardware as an alternative), but we came up with a pretty nifty digital one that shows both indoor and outdoor temperature, plus the time. It's currently sitting in the living room, though it may be moved to the kitchen so it can be checked with the morning coffee. Useful little device! I'm glad Dad liked it, and his card. :) We also picked up lunch stuff, and I got a gift bag, paper, and number candles for his cake. Which, uh, I had to exchange one because I thought he was a year younger than he was. ^^; To be fair, I'd forgotten they changed the age at which you can start collecting Social Security. . . Got the right one in the end! And the cake itself was delicious -- Mom's chocolate cake recipe, which mmmmmmmm~ Even got to have it twice -- once in the afternoon after lunch, before Mom went to work, and a second dessert piece. :D And there's plenty more in the freezer, so yaaay. We shall eat like kings at least one day a week for the rest of the month, I think. XD

Rest of the afternoon revolved around the following:

-->Watching the glorious return of The Sim Supply's Sims 2 LP! We were back with Brentnall and Doona today, working on University stuff and Brentnall's descent into darkness as he becomes an evil warlock. >D Both he and Doona keep getting on the Dean's list, which I am impressed by, as their needs are rarely great. Then again, James makes a point of getting all the required University stuff out of the way as soon as possible, so I suppose that helps. :p Brentnall is also doing pretty well on the path into evil -- he's darkened his soul enough to get the black warlock outfit, and he nearly burned down his dorm with a cast of Inflammo (his sister and her friend were panicking WAY too much to actually call the fire department -- Brentnall had to do it himself). Ah, good times! And really makes me miss witches. . .I like vampire powers, but I want actual spells too, you know? Trying not to get my hopes too high for the upcoming Realm of Magic game pack, but oooooh, waaaaaant. . .

-->Also got in two CallMeKevin videos: one on a game called Headliner, where you play as a news editor, approving what articles to run and seeing how they affect the world (Kevin of course turned everything into a total fascist dystopia, getting a coworker deported, starving his dog into running away, turning a grocery store into a house o'booze for a synthetic alcohol, and eventually getting murdered before he could take on his new role as the Minister of Information for the very corrupt government); and one on Totally Reliable Delivery Service, which is one of those QWOP games where you have to control individual limbs on a person and the physics engine means everything will be going wrong very often XD (Kevin discovered a talent for crashing vehicles into the ocean, including planes and helicopters, but somehow actually managed to successfully deliver a few packages -- none of them in great shape, mind, but still XD).

-->And filled out the day's YouTubery with a list from Outside XBox about horror movie villains (plus the Terminator) who weren't nearly as scary, or as invincible, in their video game adaptations (special shout out to "connection problems" Jason from the Friday the 13th game, who was mocked by naked dancing Chad XD); and a quick Hitman 2 video from RT Gamer in which he fulfilled the muffin challenge (pacify 5 people with muffins -- given his style of play is very similar to Mike's from OX, wanging those things around to keep from getting shot was a key strategy of his) and then sadly failing the Mr. Giggles elusive target at the last minute (he managed to find and kill the guy, but didn't manage to escape before being gunned down, aww). All good stuff!

-->As for my own video gaming, it was Fallout Friday! And I have FINALLY made it to damn Oberland Station, despite detours to deal with a nest of raiders, a bunch of ghouls, a quick trip back to Sanctuary to drop off a bunch of stuff from my inventory and get some sleep, and my amazing ability to get lost even with quest markers telling me where to go. (I figured out how to read the map eventually!) Chatted with the settlers, told them the Minutemen were there to help and we'd clear out the nearby raiders for 'em. This made Preston happy enough that he decided it was time to officially share his backstory with me. I had Victor respond positively at every prompt, as I like Preston and want to be his pal. He's not always the greatest shot, and has a real problem with the wildlife (even the bits not attacking us), but he's a solid ally. That said, I still have plans to cut him loose once we finish this quest, if only because I REALLY have to get back to the plot at some point. XD

-->And as for writing, it was a Forgotten Vows Friday, where I cleaned up the rough draft of the third chapter of "A Wedding, A Wedding, We're Going To Have A Wedding" -- "I Love My Love With An Amethyst." Very cutesy story about Victor proposing to Alice -- it gives me the warm fuzzies, anyway. :) The problem is, working on this makes me think that maybe it shouldn't just be four chapters. . .there's two other incidents I've realized I could throw in, if I wanted. One's Dr. Fixxler offering Victor and Alice the chance to go Downstairs after their wedding (which, if you've read the last chapter of "Fixing You," you know they totally take him up on); the other is the conversation Victor and Alice have with his parents about their potential honeymoon (which ends with them accepting the trip to Brighton the Van Dorts are offering, but managing to annoy Nell enough in the process that she snippily says that they won't attend the wedding -- which, again, if you've read that last chapter, you know Victor and Alice are fine with). I even have an idea of an old deleted scene I could rework for the Fixxler stuff. . . I'll keep thinking about it. (Code for "I'm almost certainly going to do it.")

And right before making his entry, I finished up my Saturday queue for The Valice Multiverse (just one more anon question added to the bunch, whew!) and answered the comment sitting in my inbox, so that's something. Not too bad a day, productivity-wise! :) Tomorrow's plans: room clean (it's that weekend again), Vampire Saturday (I did mention I'm planning on starting a Malkavian run of Bloodlines, right?), and probably some Sinking City stuff (OXBox did an hour's worth of gameplay on their channel, and I'm actually tempted by Helloween's stream archives in this instance. . .). We're also supposed to get some rain and thunderstorms, so hopefully those won't be too bad. So long as they clear out the worst of the heat and humidity that's been plaguing us this weekend! (Not nearly as bad as last year's 114 F, but it has been in the 90s for the past few days, and muggy too.)

For now, though, time to catch up on more tumblr stuff. Night all!
