Happy 4th of July!
Jul. 4th, 2019 11:19 pmIt's been a pretty low-key one around here -- we all basically just hung around the house in the air conditioning and watched movies. Lunchtime offering was Smallfoot -- I mentioned seeing the 4-D short version of this at Mystic Aquarium before. Turns out it's a feature-length musical in its natural habitat, and a pretty good one! The plot is all about a young Yeti who accidentally stumbles upon a "smallfoot" -- a human -- gets banished from his village after trying to tell everybody about it, then hooks up with a group of "smallfoot researchers," ends up in a human village, and ends up taking a human (Percy, a wildlife guy whose show has been tanking in the ratings lately and was going to impersonate a Yeti attack to try and bring them back up again) back with him to prove they exist. Shenanigans ensue. It's a very cute little movie, with some good songs and sweet moments. And great voice actors -- Percy is voiced by James Cordon, from Carpool Karaoke, while Migo, the protagonist Yeti, is Channing Tatum -- and his dad is Danny Devito. XD And it ends happier than the 4-D version, so that's nice too. Evening movie was The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part -- still just as amusing on a second watch for me, and Mom and Dad liked it too. :D Granted, I now have both "Catchy Song" And "Super Cool" stuck in my head. . . XD
The other stuff I did today was mostly bum around on TV Tropes and tumblr, but I did manage:
-->Buying Island Living and playing a round of Sims 4 -- didn't get to Sulani today, but I did at least use some of the new curtains in Marlene's room upgrade post-kiddening! Yes, today was her birthday -- I unfortunately couldn't get her party above Bronze level. Probably should have just stayed home instead of trying to do something new by going to The A-Maze-Ing Wonderland Park. ^^; But she grew up well, and I gave her a nice new room that's Pufferhead-stuff themed. :D So that was cool. And now I don't have to worry about toddlers again for a while, hooray~ :p
-->Watching The Sim Supply's latest "Rags To Riches Island Edition" episode -- Banana missed Love Day, but participated very enthusiastically in Neighborhood Brawl. Mostly because, hilariously, fighting people on that day? IMPROVES SULANI'S CONSERVATION METER. No, seriously, the little symbol that indicates you've upped the health of the island appeared with every fight! James abused that little glitch as much as humanly possible. XD Plus we discovered that storing a meal in the selling table works exactly like storing it in the fridge, which -- well. James cracked up laughing when he saw that. XD She's also sold a bunch of seashells, visited his cafe the Boat Hole (which, uh, doesn't work QUITE as efficiently as James would like), and managed to get the first set of bananas planted for her eventual banana farm. (Yes, the game calls them plantains, but -- they're bananas. Actually, I wouldn't mind having a tiny mod to change the name to bananas. . .) Good stuff!
-->Posting the first chapter of my new Forgotten Vows Verse story, "A Wedding, A Wedding, We're Going To Have A Wedding" -- Dressed to Wed. Nell and Alice clash over what Alice's wedding dress should look like -- or, a little more accurately, Nell buys Alice a (rather gaudy) wedding dress and Alice has to tell her to shove it. XD Originally a gift fic for my friend Nebby on tumblr, I liked it enough to make it a truly official part of the verse. Now I just have to make sure all the remaining chapters are post-worthy on-time. . .
And now I have to wrap a few things up before hitting the sheets -- gotta get up by 9 tomorrow for a quick run up to the shop at 10 for Dad's birthday. (Ah yeah, I gotta sign his card too. . .) Don't know if I'm going to get around to doing anything on the Valice Multiverse tonight -- I'm not really feeling even queuing up what's in the inbox? Probably would also take too much time too. . . Let me take care of the other stuff I want to clear out, then I'll worry about that. Night all!
