CLOCKING MYSELF IN THE HEAD WITH MY CEILING FAN.
If you're wondering, "how the FUCK" -- I woke up, had my shake, started changing my sheets, then climbed onto my bed to dust my middle shelves. I was a bit clumsy today, knocking over a few things, which annoyed me. But eventually I got the middle bit over my bed all done, then went to go turn my fan off so I could dust it too.
And basically forgot to duck.
I got hit twice in the forehead, then fell back on the bed and lay there for a minute wondering what the fuck even IS my life. Then I got up and went to the bathroom to assess the damage. Aching head with a fairly decent bruise and a forming goose egg, which was no big surprise. Went to tell Mom because, well, I'd gotten hit in the head, and that's when I started crying. For what I hope are obvious reasons. Ended up icing my head with the remains of a bag of frozen peas for a while, sitting around trying to calm myself down. Very unpleasant pre-lunch, let me tell you!
FORTUNATELY, the end result does not seem to be an concussion -- I was very alert for any weird changes to my vision or anything like that, but nothing concerning happened. I can still see fine, I can walk around, and even my head isn't as swollen as it was before. Basically, I got really fucking lucky and I know it. Note to self: TURN THE FAN OFF FROM THE FLOOR BEFORE YOU GO TO CLEAN IT. That's what I USUALLY do, I don't know WHAT happened to me today.
So yeah, pretty shitty start to a Saturday. But strangely, even with that, I accomplished most of what I set out to do with my to-do list from yesterday:
-->Do that last bit of dusting and change my sheets: Yes, I actually did accomplish this in the end -- once it was determined I hadn't nearly killed myself and I shut my fan off from ground level. Someone give me a medal.
-->Get another chunk done on Bloodlines: Played about an hour this afternoon! Went to the diner and did a bit more of "Thinned Blood" by collecting Lily's things -- and it turns out completing the next part of that quest is looking up a bail bond Lily had her person, so it was a good thing I went back! Then it was over to Kilpatrick's, where I picked up the Carson quest and looked up both Virgil Crumb for Knox and Rolf Toten to find Lily (plus everybody else in the list, just because -- I think the NPC who goes to urinate in the alley by the Asylum has a name! There's a public urinator in the list called Mark Bremerkamp XD). Went to Lily's car to grab her diary (poor girl, she has a shitty backstory), then headed over to the clinic to advance both quests at once. Dealt with creepy Vandal, picked the lock into the blood bank, found my way into the morgue through the secret hole and picked up Crumb's things, including the Foxy Boxes key, then located Lily in the secret room off the freezer. Sent her to reunite with E, promising to keep the fact that she killed a man in frenzy to myself (because Alice nice, yo), then dealt with Vandal trying to deny me blood by Dementing him into a laughing fit and forgetting all about it. (Though Alice in-story is going to slam him against a wall and tell him about how she shoved a guy in front of a train once -- which is probably going to sufficiently impress him to sell her blood again, not she'll want it.) And then I went to Carson's apartment to work on that quest -- currently parked in the tattoo parlor, having gotten a call from Mr. Gimble! Man, this is turning out to be a busy night for Alice. . .and I haven't even gotten to the main plot quest yet, "Slashterpiece!" I've already decided that's the end of this particular night, so I'll have to go do that right after taking care of Gimble so it doesn't feel like I'm trying to cram TOO much in. . .on the plus side, Alice will have lots of XP to spend once she gets back to her Haven! Plus a new book to read that gives her a free dot in Firearms. :)
-->Watch at least an hour of the Critical Role CoC video: Actually managed about two! With a quick cookie break at about the one-hour mark (Mom made chocolate chip cookies, which took a little of the sting out of the day). It's a pretty engaging RP they're doing -- a collection of six cat-fanciers with a variety of unusual backgrounds and skills, having been hired by this mysterious American collector of the weird to retrieve a mysterious casket for him from the Crystal Palace in 1890s London. The cosmic horror part of it seems to involve a monster that lives in shadow because to be seen or known destroys it. . . The characters and the people playing them are all fun -- Phil LaMarr's actually part of the group as Dr. Pocket, an antiquities expert! If you don't know who he is, he's a MAD TV actor and does a lot of voice acting -- in fact, he voices some characters in Bloodlines! Specifically Malcom St. Martin (the doctor at the clinic), Skelter (the Anarch Gangrel hanging out in the Last Round), and Dennis (the leader of the gang that beat up Mercurio). So that's cool. Everybody's in full costume, there's lots of fun props (like old steampunky devices and boxes with hidden chambers), and the story's pretty intriguing! I would have tried to finish the whole thing today, but I didn't really have the time after supper because I wasn't sure if I was gonna do the RP thing tonight (I decided I didn't feel like it, but by that time I'd committed to listening to the Bloodlines soundtrack to end the day). Tomorrow morning sometime!
-->See if I can also fit in all my OXBox videos, or at LEAST the Hitman 2 3 Ways To Play: Okay, this one didn't go to plan -- I ended up watching the TWO OTHER OXBox videos I had in the queue, because they were a bit shorter and, again, I wasn't sure if I was taking the day off from RPing on tumblr or not. Two fun list videos on bosses who resort to screwing around with the PLAYER to get an advantage during fights, such as messing with button inputs or glitching out your screen, and actions you can take in games that will really screw you over later on, with an obligatory Space Quest II example (forget an item early on? We'll let you play through most of the game, and then have you get killed because you didn't have it) and a couple of Resident Evil ones (don't kill the merchant on Professional Mode in RE4! It will screw you over in ways you can't imagine). Better than nothing!
-->And, in addition, I did get some queuing done on Valice Multiverse and Victor Luvs Alice, and posted another edited Scene From Secundus: Up A Tree, To The Top. Into prompts from 2011 now, yay~ Just a fun bit of silliness about Victor and Alice racing each other up a tree. And Victor winning because of course he does, you have seen this man climb things, right?
All right -- time to finish up the queues, maybe answer another comment in my inbox, and then go to bed and hope my head's better in the morning. Tomorrow's to-do: Finish Critical Role's CoC campaign, write on "Secundus 2," play some Sims, watch the Sims videos I have in the Watch Later and whatever The Sim Supply has up. And, if possible, OXBox Hitman 2 goodness. I should have time, it's supposed to be a fairly sticky, then kinda rainy Sunday. . . We'll see how it all pans out. Night all!
