Gathering Paper Tuesday
Aug. 6th, 2019 11:15 pmWe've got stuff coming up in September that requires me to find a lot of support documents, so gathering those up ate up the majority of my Tuesday. Can't say I mind -- it's not particularly HARD work, but it keeps me busy, and makes the day go by. Plus there's always SOMETHING interrupting, so I can't get bored of it. :P Really not a bad day, though -- just the occasional minor irritation. (Like having my lunch break interrupted -- I swear, all the most annoying calls come in when I'm trying to eat. . .) And a lousy ride home -- there was an accident on the highway near one of the on-ramps, and then a near-accident thanks to some lunatic driver who I SWEAR was going to plow into somebody else to make their exit. *shudder* I really hate driving some days.
Made it home in one piece, though, and had a pretty decent evening all told:
-->Got my workout in (had to do an indoors one, as it was sprinkling rain when I came home -- plus it was starting to get muggy again, bleh), and had pastrami sandwiches for dinner (om nom nom)
-->Wrote another chunk on "Secundus 2" -- Buford has been foiled in his attempt to kill Doc (via pie plate, natch), and Strickland has shown up on the scene to escort both him and Gordon out of the party. Too bad it wasn't before Gordon got a chance to shoot his mouth off. . .sadly, our heroes will be leaving the party too soon, because things just got really uncomfortable for them. Shame. . .
-->Watched another bunch of Sims videos:
A) James Turner (yes, his channel is going by his actual name now! I guess he figured "The Sim Supply" didn't really make sense anymore, given it used to be a group account but now is just him, and everyone's always calling him James anyway) looking at the trailer for the upcoming Moschino Stuff Pack! Being James, he was MUCH more interested in the potential for cool new windows and furniture than any of the clothing on display. XD Personally, having also watched the trailer on its own, I kinda like some of the decor, and having a new freelance career in fashion photography sounds interesting, but it's all stuff I could live without. Plus I don't really want to support a "branded" stuff pack like that. I'll save my money for Realm of Magic.
B) The next part of James's "Rags To Riches Island Edition!" This one subtitled "Wow It Is Hard To Get Elementals To Move In." Not only did he have to change romance targets for Banana after discovering the first guy he went after had kind of awful traits, once he got the "Ask To Move In" option on the guy he wanted, it wouldn't work! Turns out it a) doesn't work on retail lots (which is where James was spending most of his time) and b) it doesn't work while the actual "summoning Island Elementals" event is active. You'd think the option would be grayed out with a pop-up tool tip! *sigh* He succeeded in the end, though, and now Banana has a live-in boyfriend with whom she will have a baby with the special Island Elemental trait! . . .Maybe, as some of the commenters have said that becoming a mermaid may have ruined her chances to pass her SimDNA on. . . Well, on the plus side, the shop is doing well, and people are actually BUYING her bananas now. She's leaving SOME sort of legacy!
C) A "ten minute build" challenge from Plumbella, featuring more mini-breakdowns about how awful the house is than you can shake a stick at. XD It actually didn't turn out TOO bad -- the layout isn't great, most of the rooms are underfurnished, and she forgot the back stairs, but it was way better than I could do in ten minutes, that's for damn sure.
D) More of Call Me Kevin's Sim world -- the gang wars are done, so now it's time for a ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE! No, seriously, there's a mod for that, and Kevin tried it out to great effect. Jim got most of his cult zombified, made a zombie ghost (as you might imagine, glitchy as hell XD), and cured one of his zombies just to watch them get eaten and zombified again. Also he threw a costume party so he could hire a bartender to make him drinks for Dear Leader Day, and THE ZOMBIES DRESSED UP. XD Well, a few of them did, anyway. This game is so chaotic, it's great. (And again, the mod is made with clear love. Though it could use a little more spellcheck.)
-->And sorted out my two tumblr queues for the next day -- Eric's adventures in Neighborhood Brawl on Victor Luvs Alice; a bunch of anon asks on Valice Multiverse. Always good to get that stuff out of the way.
So yeah, fairly productive day, all in all! Can't complain. Time to make sure the inbox is good and hit the sack. Fingers crossed the trend continues! Night all!
