September 7th? That's This -- Saturday
Sep. 7th, 2019 10:04 pmAnd, sadly, I have to admit it hasn't been the greatest Saturday. Mostly because:
A) I went to bed at 2:30 AM (got caught up in reading something) -- and woke up sometime after 6 AM because I'd kicked all my covers off, my foot had fallen asleep, AND I had to go to the bathroom. And then, when I'd taken care of all those problems and was trying to get back to sleep, MY ALARM WENT OFF BECAUSE I'D FORGOTTEN TO TURN IT OFF. I DID eventually get back to sleep for a few hours -- finally got woken up shortly after 10 when my parents came back from grocery shopping, so I just got up after that. But yeah, that wasn't exactly pleasant.
B) And then I spent most of the day either away from my computer or not using it because my parents went out furniture shopping, got stuck in traffic on the way back (meaning we didn't eat lunch until about 2 in the afternoon), then Mom cleaned up the new furniture (new kitchen table and chairs they picked up at Habitat for Humanity) with some help from me, then I had to help her get it all inside the kitchen, and then we spent some time planning our trip to Canobie tomorrow (we're trying to hit a bunch of rides we didn't manage to get on before, plus a couple of old favorites), and then it was supper time. . .
Yeah. Admittedly, I SHOULD have just eaten lunch earlier instead of sitting on my iPad getting hangry (possibly made worse by PMS and/or tiredness, I'm not sure), but I thought they were going to be home any minute. . . I wouldn't be me if I didn't have shit time management! And helping move the furniture and plan out our trip tomorrow couldn't be helped, but still. Felt like the entire day just slipped through my fingers.
However, I did get a FEW things done:
-->Watched James's latest video, which was actually kind of a sad one -- him talking about how he thinks quality assurance has gone down at Sims central, basically, and how that's pretty darn bad if they're signing off on stuff with known problems, or not testing patches and new packs enough. He used their handling of both the Jungle Adventures and Island Living island counters as an example -- both assets that were forgotten when the packs were originally released, and both that were added in later but not very well. The IL one in particular took almost three months to make in into game, and it doesn't look right -- swatches don't QUITE match, the counter doesn't extend properly in certain pieces. . .a custom-content fan-made island counter released earlier did the job better! Plus there's a glitch with photographing on high floors in Moschino Stuff where you drop down to a lower floor while trying to move around on the tripod, and columns now automatically pop up to the highest height when you place them unless you recolor them. . . Yeah, it's kind of embarrassing, isn't it? I do still like Sims 4, but things do tend to feel rushed or incomplete lately. Sometimes I'm glad that I typically only play like an hour or two a week -- means I don't notice this like some players, and it's taken me longer to get frustrated with some parts of the game. One day I will subject you all to my rant about how to make an ideal Sims game. . .
-->Despite this, I did end up watching the livestream regarding Sims 4 Realm Of Magic! And, thankfully, this looks like one of the better packs. Lots of cool stuff on display, like how familiars work (you can't pet them, but they actually will offer encouragement as your Sim works on their magical skills, via little text boxes), how one becomes a spellcaster (you have to gather magical motes to prove you're willing to put in the busywork), how magical charge works (don't let it get too high or you might die!), what's going on with the Magical Realm -- it was pretty cool. When it wasn't being plagued by technical issues, anyway -- they kept losing the feed from the game! Every so often they'd have to fill time by just talking about stuff while the background Gurus restarted everything. Still, it was an informative look, and definitely puts the pack on my "To Buy" list. (If I don't manage to win it in the SimsVIP giveaway, that is, but I'm not pinning my hopes on THAT. Don't mind giving EA money for THIS one.)
-->And, since it is September 7th, an important BTTF date, I went into my Watch Later queue and finally watched a video that's been there for ages -- some behind-the-scenes footage of the filming of Marty's arrival back at his house at the end of Part III, as shot by the next-door neighborhood with a camcorder. It was pretty neat stuff -- and the ending, where said neighbor's kids said goodbye to him and gave him a plush fox, was very cute. :) Good stuff. Still have two others to shift as well -- thinking one in October, one in November. :)
-->Didn't get a chance to write on Secundus 2 today, thanks to the day getting away from me and watching the livestream (two and a quarter hours -- though I did split it up around dinner), but I did get up another Scene From Secundus: Second (But Still Awesome) Friends, about Marty and Doc's status as Victor's second best friends after his dog, Scraps. This is -- basically a new story except for the VERY LAST LINE, because I cannot stop myself editing my old stuff. But I do hope you enjoy it.
So yeah, that's that! I'm actually kind of proud of myself for consistently starting these updates at 10:04 all this week. :) Still got a little Backie in me. But as I have to get up by 7:30 at the latest tomorrow (to give myself an hour to have breakfast, make my bed, and get dressed before we leave for the park at 8:30), I really gotta skedaddle now. Just gonna get some queuing done on my tumblrs and pop up a few comments, then it's off to bed. Hopefully I'll sleep a little better tonight. . . Night all!
