Yup, today was FINALLY the day we went out and had our trip up to Canobie Lake Park! And, in distinct contrast to Six Flags, we had an absolute blast. :D Canobie may not have any super-coasters like Superman or Batman: The Dark Knight, but it does have a cleaner park (the bathrooms REALLY show that off), friendlier staff, and is generally cheaper (not just the ticket price either -- lunch was about 20 bucks less and pretty much just as good (Dad wasn't impressed with the sausage in his sausage and pepper sandwich, but Mom and I enjoyed our BBQ pulled chicken sandwiches); ice cream was about ten bucks less and MUCH better (Mom and Dad both got HUGE cones of ice cream, while I got a "milkshake" that was too thick to drink and had FOUR FULL-SIZED SNICKERS BITES ON IT). Most tellingly, we managed to pack a lot more rides and such into a shorter day at Canobie than we did at Six Flags. Mostly because we spent a lot less time waiting around in line. Now, admittedly, us coming at the start of Canobie's off-season (where they're only open on weekends) might have something to do with that, but even still.

Our main goal on this trip was to hit up a bunch of rides we didn't get to the first time we went (though we did revisit a few, such as the Yankee Cannonball and Untamed coasters, the Sky Ride chair lift, and the Policy Pond log flume), and we did get to most of the ones we wanted (one was closed, one we changed our mind on because we weren't sure if we really wanted to do it). Some highlights:

-->Skater: The conceit of this one is that you're supposed to be on a giant skateboard in a half-pipe. It's a rocking ride kind of in the vein of the classic pirate ship swing, except here you're going up and down a double-ramp instead of swinging. . .and the skateboard car you're on spins around while all this is happening. First one way, then the other. It was a trip, though poor Mom ended up a little nauseous.

-->Xtreme Frisbee: A more direct translation of the pirate ship swing, this one is styled to be a giant frisbee, with a ring of inward-facing seats that spins as you rock back and forth. Again, I thoroughly enjoyed it, Mom did until she started feeling sick. Don't worry, she was okay, but we've agreed she should probably have some motion-sickness meds before doing these rides in future!

-->Psycho-Drome: A ride we lined up for last time, but never got on as the line was too long -- it's an indoors scrambler with strobe lights and such. The spinning was fun, but we agreed that the presentation could use some work. Spirals on the floor, maybe glow-in-the-dark paint or monsters on the walls. . .something to spice up the experience a bit!

-->The Mine of Lost Souls: A ride we wanted to go on last year, but didn't because, again, the line was too long -- turns out it's a VERY HOKEY haunted house ride with minimal things popping out at you and not-very-good sound quality. Very kiddy stuff. I enjoyed it mostly for how outright goofy it was. Ah well, now we know.

-->The Boston Tea Party: The big winner of the day -- we ended up going on it TWICE (along with the log flume, and Untamed). What it is is, essentially, a water ride that is solely one big drop -- but WHAT A DROP. You go up fairly high, and when you come down, the splash is HUGE. As in, for just a moment you're in what's basically a TUNNEL of water. And then it collapses on you and you end up ABSOLUTELY DRENCHED. XD Very fun for being, essentially, the very last bit of your traditional water ride. I actually got a souvenir related to this one -- a T-Shirt with the ride's logo on it and the phrase "nothing wetter than here." XD Which is very true.

So yeah, busy but fun day! I'm glad that we got to go in the end. :) Excellent way to send out summer. And I got home in time to relax a bit, answer the stuff in the inbox, and watch a few videos -- namely, James Turner commenting on a unreleased video he made of his first impressions of Island Living back when it first came out and seeing if his opinions had changed (past!James was underwhelmed by the pack, calling it pretty but lacking gameplay; present!James fully agrees with this opinion and says that there sadly doesn't seem to be a lot of point to Sulani); and a couple of riddle videos from Jay and Kassie (including the return of a serial killer who regularly murders her dates, and various maniacs kidnapping people and putting them in weird situations to escape). So that was good too. :)

And now it's time to pack it in and get some sleep -- I am le tired. Which is good, as I'm hoping it'll help me get to sleep easier tonight. Had some issues again last night -- namely, waking up with my arm numb again, and then being BOILING HOT most of the night. I solved that problem by turning on my fan and lying under it until my body finally went, "FINE YOU CAN HAVE THE COVERS," but I'm hoping for no repeats tonight. Work tomorrow -- I need my sleep! Fingers crossed for my first full week back. . .night all!
