Quieter Wednesday
Jan. 13th, 2021 11:10 pmIn a sense, anyway -- my missing coworker is back, so some of the workload was lifted off me, which was good. But then I had to listen to her talk to the Talker, and that wasn't exactly great near the end of the day. But I have to say, I got my full lunch break with no interruptions, I got my afternoon break, I can't complain there. I've had worse Wednesdays.
Afternoon was all right as well:
1. Get in a workout: Check! Another bike ride, catching up with Jon’s Fallout 4 Survival Playthrough all the while! I finished off the last couple of minutes of episode 39, with Jon wondering which of the ghouls in the manor was the ill-fated Aunt Belinda mentioned in the terminal – aaand accidentally making Grills sick via dirty water. Whoops. Good thing the place had just unlocked as a settlement so Grills could pop some antibiotics and get a good night’s sleep to combat it!
Episode 40 started with Grills, all refreshed, leaving the manor to explore a bit more of Nahant. First stop was a nearby church to check for goodies – darn thing had apparently gotten some of its materials from Glitch Quarry, though, as the front just did NOT load in correctly. XD Then it was over to the Nahant Oceanological Society, with a Mr. Handy spouting occasional ocean facts, a ton of mutated mirelurks (the society was already pre-war irradiating sea life to try and get people to see the damage being done to the environment, and the bombs dropping did not help matters), and – once Jon got the key to the office and cracked the safe – a .44 pistol with an Advanced Receiver, just what Jon was looking for to add to his Two Shot gun! With that in hand, Jon decided it was better to take a quick break from the coastal journey to send Grills home via Institute teleport – and hey, while in the Institute, may as well do a few things, right? Such as talk to the Railroad’s synth on the inside and convince him to fight for his freedom; give the username and password he found earlier to Liam; and speak with Father to get his quarters and finally clean up “Synth Retention.” Jon mused about how weird it is that you can’t actually turn on any of the plumbing in your room in the Institute, then swung by Father’s room again to start “The Battle For Bunker Hill” – that quest where everyone basically descends on Bunker Hill looking for some synths trying to escape. Grills, of course, is going to be informing the Brotherhood aaaaall about this. . .
But not before he headed back home and upgraded his new toys first! The two .44s he’d picked up on his journeys had their good mods removed and slapped on the Two Shot before being scrapped, and he took a rank of Gun Nut 3 with his latest level up to upgrade a special shotgun he’d picked up to truly terrifying amounts of damage. That’ll be his new shotgun option, retiring the Crippling Plasma gun for the moment. I left him working on the Crippling Gauss Rifle, seeing what he could do with that. Fun stuff – I like seeing how people mod their equipment. It’s intriguing and inspiring. :)
2. Stay current on YouTube Subscriptions: Check in the sense of “I did what I decided would be the best idea yesterday” – had a GrayStillPlays Catch-Up Night! If he stays true to form and gives himself Thursday off, that gives me tomorrow evening to catch up on Kevin! But for tonight, we had:
1. Fun With Ragdolls: The Game, bringing more terrible challenges for Gray to yeet himself through. Kinda literally too – very first one was a “fling yourself onto the flag without getting diced by the lasers or shot down by the cannons.” XD Gray spent longer than he wanted to on that one. Also on the “GrayStillRages” obstacle course (ending with some VERY precision jumping on cylinders of doom), and the “Impossible Escape” (pretty much everything will kill you, there’s no jumping over the obvious obstacles, and NO SLO-MO to cheese things. Gray immediately put this board into the “no, just no” category along with that mountain from the last time we played this game). XD Oh, people are being MEAN to him in this game. I like it. >:D
2. Happy Wheels, with more absurd bottle flips (what else can you call a flip with a section called “Pain” that rains cars and garbage down upon you if you touch it – and you’re going to touch it, as “Yeet God” is right below it), absurd bottle runs (they’re getting loooonger. . .and more crooooked. . .yes, I did throw my “loop-de-loop” idea out in the comments XD), and absurd glass breaks (smash all the walls and somehow not get spiked? Then smash your way through THIS PILE OF MURDERY GLASS BLOCKS TO BECOME A GOD). I still love it XD
3. GTA V, driving over more impossible stunt races – or, rather, in this episode? One incredibly long stunt race of horror. Steep ramps with boosts. Incredible jumps that have to be made with pinpoint precision. TERRIBLE HALF-WALL RIDES. This board had them all, and Gray genuinely sounded like he wanted to weep at the end of it. I mean, he DID it, but MAN. Dude has more patience and grit than we ever give him credit for.
3. Write on “In A World Of His Own”: Check! Into the short “epilogue” chapter where Victor and Alice visit the King and Queen of Hearts, because someone reminded me I was going to do that as a one-shot at one point. Figured it worked as an extra chapter on here too! Anyway, this probably isn’t going to be very long, at least in the first draft – it’s basically just Victor going “yeah, I should have expected this” over the King of Hearts looking like him, and a few mentions of the upcoming wedding (as this takes place in the same timeskip as “A Wedding, A Wedding, We’re Going To Have A Wedding”). I still need to take some time this Friday to work on my Valice Multiverse verses, but I should have this sorted by next week! :D
So yeah, that's all good. And I just slapped up a few reblogs for my VictorLuvsAlice queue, so I'm good with that for a couple of days, yay. :) Now I just have to finish answering comments and get to bed. Two more days. . .and a cleaning Saturday, but what can one do. At least it's not work. Night all!
