crossover_chick: a vampire version of Alice Liddell and a human Victor Van Dort kissing (SIMS: Vamp!Alice and Victor Smooches)
Work was -- eh, kinda stressful. My coworker is still out, now with family medical emergencies, and while things weren't quite so chaotic with the GL or anything, it was still. . .I just blame having to be in the office and worrying about if anyone else in the building is being an idiot, and the fact that my remaining coworker is the Talker. It doesn't do good things for my head, especially with things the way they are.

Let's not talk about that -- let's instead talk about how my evening went in regards to my to-do list:

1. Get in a workout: Check! Back on the bike, back with Jon’s Fallout 4 Survival Playthrough! I resumed with Grills working through the opening of "Blind Betrayal" – after her initial protest, Haylen informed that she had some information on Danse that she’d like to share with Grills at her gunship. Grills agreed to go with her, and she led him – very much not to her gunship. Instead, they skulked around the lower berths of the Prydwen, where she insisted that, machine or not, Danse is a good man and deserves a chance. This fit in with how Jon saw the whole situation (since he’s still thinking that there was a chance Danse was replaced – I assume the comments on the episode set him straight way back when), so he agreed to hear Danse out when he found him, and Haylen provided him with a potential location – Listening Point Bravo, an old military installation that Danse designated as a fallback point for the police station team if they needed it. Happily, it’s on the route that Jon had planned out for Grills anyway, so that worked out nicely!

Grills still had some Institute business to take care of first, though – in the misty light of morning, he descended back to earth and made his way via Nordhagen Beach to Libertalia, the raider encampment on boats run by a previously-escaped synth! With – X6-88 waiting for him on the Nordhagen Beach side, to Jon’s surprise. Apparently every other time, X6-88 spawned on the Nahant Wharf side. Then again, Jon never specified if this was the first time he’d approached the flotilla from this direction. . .at any rate, Jon joined up with him to actually do the “Synth Retention” mission.

Which would have been easier on poor Jon and Grills if X6-88 hadn’t insisted on constantly getting in the way of his scopes. And then diving into the water at one point. XD Basically, X6 is not your companion of choice when it comes to sniping. XD They cleared out the raiders, however, and Grills made an attempt to talk Gabriel around without actually using his synth recall code, but no go – when it became clear Grills wouldn’t use it, X6 did, and then it was just a matter of mopping up the remaining raiders. Grills scavenged their loot, then Jon decided to send him to explore the little island with the Nahant police station and whatnot (I’m familiar with it mainly because “Tales From The Commonwealth” sticks a post office interior in it for one of its custom quests). After wandering around for a bit, collecting another Eddie Winter tape and watching the Brotherhood drop some knights off, Grills proceeded into the formerly-gated community, killing a few Rust Devils and picking up a Crippling Gauss Rifle! :D So that’ll go well with the Crippling Plasma gun. . . His real target, however, was Croup Manor at the top, a ghoul-infesteds potential settlement that Jon saw as an excellent way to top up on sleep, food, and water (as Grills is starting to feel the lack of all three). Left him just as he finished clearing out the basement and learning the backstory – just a couple more minutes to go, then it’s onto episode 40, wherever that takes us along the coast!

2. Stay current on YouTube Subscriptions: Eeeh, sort of. . .two of the videos watched WERE in my Subscriptions, yes, but the evening ended up taking a very Sims-themed turn away from what I was expecting.

A) Started with off-the-list-but-still-important – the trailer for The Sims 4 Paranormal Stuff! Basically it’s all about ghosts and seances and suchlike, with Sims able to become paranormal investigators and whatnot. Since stuff like this I believe was one of the top options in that initial “build a stuff pack” survey we took ages ago (the one that led to Nifty Knitting), I’m not that surprised they ended up making a pack out of it. What’s really got my attention here is two things:

1. The pack apparently brings back Bonehilda the maid, which – being a fan of one Plumbella – I already knew was going to make her happy

2. IT TOOK THEM SIX FUCKING YEARS BUT “SCARED” IS NOW AN OFFICIAL EMOTION FOR SIMS – and, happily, they WEREN’T dumb enough to lock it behind the stuff pack pay wall; it’s part of the requisite pre-pack free update. Hmph. Looks like it’ll be replacing “Tense” in a lot of places too, which, good. One patch I’ll actually be looking forward to (even if more mod-breakage is inevitable).

3. Okay, three things – as usual, the song they picked to go with the trailer is awesome, gotta figure out what it is.

B) And irony of ironies, look who updated twice today? James Turner! Welp, better watch his videos since I’m already kinda in a Sims mood:

1. The next episode of “3 Brothers,” the not-quite-a-Rags-To-Riches LP following Ambrose’s sons in Mt. Komorebi! . . .this episode was pretty much all about vampirism. XD Well, to be fair, two of the kids ARE vampires, and if James is going to get either of them cured, they need to know more about their condition! And if they want to go out in the sunlight, they also need to level up. . . Which James accomplished via a mass-blood-drinking at a “chapel” lot in Newcrest (discovering that one couldn’t drink from the Flower Bunny – presumably because of the costume – but could drink from the Magical Sages) and going to Forgotten Hollow and having Isaiah in particular duel the hell out of his uncle Caleb. XD The fun was slightly curtailed, however, by the sudden discovery that Isaiah had been poisoned! Yes, James’s decision to infest the house with creepy crawlies has kind of come back to bite him – literally. A spider bite has left Isaiah covered in dangerous green spots and with three days until death may come to claim him. And without money for a computer to research things, there is only one option – SOMEHOW make enough cash for a one-day trip to Selvadorada for the cure. XD As James put it, sometimes the more difficult option is more fun! XD So we’ll see if that comes to pass in the next episode, or if one of the brothers is going to end up a ghost.

2. Speaking of ghosts, had to watch his reaction to the new Paranormal Stuff pack, after all! Said reaction was cautiously optimistic – he likes the new build/buy stuff that’s on display in the trailer, and he’s really hopeful that the career will be at least somewhat active, even if it uses the freelance system. He acknowledges that it’s not going to be for everyone, and that Sims packs have disappointed us a lot in the past, but – well, he just wants it to be good. The mood for Sims 4 expansions these days – and the beginning of 2021, frankly.

C) All right, if I did that, I might as well watch Plumbella’s reaction and see her freak out about Bonehilda. XD And freak out she did, to the point of having to end the review early because of an asthma attack! Yeeps. . .hope she’s okay! But yes, while James is cautiously optimistic, Jesse is full-in and wants now – though she confessed to hoping actual ghosts, and not just the blobby ones from the trailer, can gets involved. I suspect not, but we’ll see. Nice to see people getting excited about stuff, though!

3. Write on “Londerland Bloodlines”: Check! Got through the bit where Alice and Bertram Tung discuss Beckett, and started the whole “what do you mean you didn’t realize you were making a ghoul when you gave that guy in the hospital your blood” bit. XD Alice is suitably freaked out by what’s happened, especially after learning it’ll take a MONTH for the last of the vitae to burn through Victor’s system. . .a few more pages, and I might have this thing wrapped up! Was gonna have it end with Alice taking the cab to Downtown, but maybe that’s better saved for the beginning of the next story. I dunno, we’ll see. (Unless I can work in Alice’s first meeting with the cabbie WITHOUT her actually getting in the cab? Hmmm. . .)

So I'm falling behind on Kevin and Gray again, sadly, but I seriously wasn't expecting TWO videos from James today. Hopefully I can make up lost ground with those two over the next couple of days -- maybe focus on Gray tomorrow as he doesn't typically upload on Thursdays?

I DID successfully complete my Newcrest Adventures update tonight, though -- admittedly, it was a shorter one, but even so. And I'm currently getting the Valice Multiverse queue done before prepping to answer the DW comment. . .then it's off to bed, as I'm not quite halfway through the week. *deep sigh* Just keep pushing on, Vic. So glad we get an extra day at the end of this week. . .night all!
