Tiring Tuesday
Mar. 2nd, 2021 11:19 pmAs in "I'm tired because I didn't sleep well last night thanks to the fucking wind howling" and "I'm tired because I had another long day at work that involved finding more problems completely out of the blue -- though at least they weren't credit card problems this time." *grumbles* And it's only just halfway through the week. . .
Anyway, let me slap up the to-do list for the afternoon --
1. Get in a workout: Check – more bike time, more Jon’s Fallout 4 Survival Playthrough time! Caught back up with Grills as he finished clearing out the Super Mutants in the Vim! brewing area. He also found a mag-locked door and a terminal to open it, which contained some post-war notes. From a person who commented that he was feeling much calmer upon coming to the island, but that his brethren were getting angrier – and that one, Grun, accused him of being like the humans. . . I almost immediately sussed out that this was probably some notes from Erickson, the friendly Super Mutant who lives on the island, while Jon guessed that Grun was the monster behind the giant double doors, as the writer of the notes mentions locking him up before fleeing. Which means our giant friend is a Super Mutant Behemoth, most likely! Sadly, we were unable to confirm this, as the doors are locked behind an Advanced terminal, and Jon never gave Grills any hacking skills. He promised to come back and face down against the guy in the future, though!
With that adventure currently in lockdown (heh), Grills went down deeper into the factory to find DiMA’s secret lab in the basement – along with the buried skeleton of the ORIGINAL Captain Avery. Yes, it’s all coming out now – DiMA killed the original Captain when she wouldn’t see eye-to-eye with him, and convinced another synth to have her memories wiped and her face altered to take her place. A holotape buried with the captain said so. Oooof. . . There was also KYE 1.1, an artificial intelligence guarding an old medical lab attached to this grim scene. They were pretty friendly, and Grills managed, via the power of the red dress, to convince them to let him in even if he wasn’t the intended user (which was stated to be a prototype synth – guess you’re supposed to have Nick with you for this!). Inside, Grills found the unique combat rifle “December’s Child” – lighter, uses different ammo, and has faster reload and firing speeds. Pretty decent base damage too – Jon’s considering it as Grills’s new go-to gun.
With all of that collected, Grills grabbed the pump regulator that he needed, then headed back to the Children of Atom to finish up their quests – though not always to their benefit; Jon totally took advantage of the opportunity to PROPERLY fix Mia’s decontamination arches so he could get free rad scrubs coming in. XD He also took a bunch of drugs to boost his intelligence as he handed in all the quests, in an effort to get a bunch of XP and thus take Advanced Hacking so he could fight Grun. . .but no dice. Ah well.
That finished off Episode 59 – Episode 60 saw Grills heading back to Fringe Cove Docks to get the Nuclear Launch Key from a sunken boat there (killing a Legendary Venomous Angler along the way – no good gear, though, just a Safecracker’s chest piece) and finish up that part of the “how do we deal with DiMA” quest. Obviously, given Grills is a Brotherhood character, it’s not likely to end well for Acadia. . .but on the way, Jon decided to swing by Erickson’s place, because he’s never actually VISITED the character on-screen. I left him basically on the Super Mutant’s doorstep, having killed another Legendary Mirelurk which dropped a Bloodied Tire Iron (does more damage the lower your health) and going on a muse about how you would do a “high rads low health” kind of character. Interesting stuff, but I’m going to have to listen to it properly tomorrow – there’s only so much time I have on the bike!
2. Work some more on “Londerland Bloodlines”: Check! Alice has fed for the first time, and found it a much more pleasant experience than she expected. Nothing like your first drink to help sell you on vampirism, I suppose. . .though Alice is going to need a little more convincing to really accept it as a decent alternative to living. Once she gets into her powers – specifically invisibility – that’s when she’ll start seeing the upsides.
3. Keep up on YouTube Subscriptions: Check! Easy when they're only two videos in the Subs --
A) Actually started this afternoon with a look at the Sims 4 Kit Pack reveal trailer, basically showing off the new micro-expansions they’ve decided need to exist. *sigh* Five bucks for something that’s apparently a Stuff Pack Lite. I’ve spent a decent amount of money on expansions for this generation of the game, and I’m okay with that, but this is starting to get a little much. (Though, as usual, I liked the music. They almost always license something cool for their trailers.)
B) Then this evening we had more Call Me Kevin, and more GTA V Chaos Mod! Classic edition this time, with Kevin playing through the FIB heist with Michael and Franklin (this is apparently just before you get Trevor as a playable character). I think it says a lot about this mod and Kevin’s episodes with it that it started with Franklin already flat on his face from being hit by a car. XD And things just kept escalating from there – Franklin turning things to gold with a Midas touch; Michael under cover as a janitor having to mop his way past Jealous Jimmy and a car full of Ballas gang members (Kevin actually had to reset the mod to get to the next cutscene); the gang invading a burning building full of C-4 to get a server of some kind and accidentally getting teleported to a waypoint past a cutscene, breaking the mission (Kevin had to fling Franklin out of a window to reset, and got a failure for “abandoning the crew,” not killing himself). XD And naturally we had cameo appearances from the dance troop of monkeys and everyone’s favorite buddy Brad. Also Super-Michael with a leap that can scale tall buildings. XD It was the usual bit of absolutely insane fun, and I’m glad our Chaos Mod days are not quite over. XD
C) And then it was time for more GrayStillPlays – and more Minecraft Parkour! This one had the theme of “mirror madness” – namely, there were lots of mirrors, and lots of invisible blocks. And invisible strafe jumps. And invisible snakes. And sometimes the mirrors on the floor went away so you couldn’t accurately judge where blocks where. And sometimes you got flipped to the other side of the mirror and had to complete a course going the opposite way. And sometimes you got flipped so you were sliding along a pathway on your HEAD. Basically this board was full of bullshit, and Gray only beat it after dying 1304 times. At least it didn’t take him eight hours! Which is good, because I don’t want him hurting his wrist again for our sake.
4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check! Newcrest Adventures update for Victor Luvs Alice, plus a couple of quick-and-simple reblogs to set up Thursday and Friday; five asks for Valice Multiverse! Yaaay~
So at least I had a good, productive evening, and I got most of my comments answered on DW, which is good. Just have to take care of one more, and then bed. Where I will hopefully get some more sleep. . .Night all.
