Busy Short Friday
May. 28th, 2021 11:20 pmAnd as bullet points seem to be the name of the game this week, here, let me pre-sort everything into categories for easier reading:
Work – Could have been better – it was a touch “hit the ground running” as I was hit with the need to sign a coworker’s birthday card, a voicemail from a donor wanting to set up their online pledge, and my other coworker not being able to remotely deposit our checks all before I could even start on the GL this morning. Fortunately everything worked out, but it was a reasonably busy day, especially with credit card stuff. Just hoping all of the stuff I did on our side made it through correctly on theirs!
Beanbags – We all won one today, yay! In fact, Dad and I won two each – my score was 3-W-W-3-3, his was W-2-2-W-2, Mom’s 2-3-3-2-W. Not too shabby, though Dad’s definitely the day’s champion.
To-Do List –
1. Get in a workout: Check! Back on the bike for about 26 minutes, and watching a few “theory” videos on the Fallout universe as a whole! The first one, from Game Theorists, was about how the real problem of rebuilding society in the Fallout world is mental illness – radiation apparently not being good for schizophrenia and PTSD – and that the real good ending is helping people get the medication they need; the other, from Shoddycast, was about how many nukes it would actually take to create a Fallout-like world – and that it was a number we actually had at one point, once you remember that you don’t have to coat the US in nuclear bombs, you just have to hit all the most-populated areas, and we do tend to congregate on the coasts. . . Both interesting (and kinda sad) videos, but not exactly what I was looking for. (I mused on tumblr on how the Fallout verse probably has WAY worse global warming than we have, and my writing friend on there, Squid, said he’d apparently seen something similar mentioned in a theory video, but couldn’t recall which one.) Maybe on Sunday, if I don’t go back to Jon’s playlists.
2. Edit some more on “Londerland Bloodlines”: Check! Used some of my extra time to get this done before my workout – Alice has successfully investigated the pier and its dead body (all while doing her best to keep a hungry Queen in check), and said her final goodbyes to the thin-bloods for now. She really does like them – she sees fellow souls dealt a bad hand in their plight. She’s soft like that. :P For now, though, it’s back to the city proper, to find some painkillers and a golden ghoul!
3. Keep up with YouTube Subscriptions: Check – the complete opposite of yesterday, with four uploads! But with me having already taken care of my writing, they weren’t that hard to get through –
A) Started with the latest episode of the Wyrd Sisters Podcast – The Last Hero! This is an illustrated story that has gorgeous illustrations by Paul Kidby, but is kind of not completely fleshed out in the plot department, following old favorites Cohen and his Silver Horde as they “return fire” to the gods (in the form of a bomb that could destroy the Disc) and the efforts of Carrot, Rincewind, and Leonard of Quirm to stop them via Quirm’s space-faring “Kite.” Manning and Liz were like “it’s enjoyable enough, but it feels like it doesn’t focus enough on the new characters, nor do enough with the old.” I admit, the main thing I remember about this book is the amazing artwork, soooo. . .well, they can’t all be winners! (Not like the book is BAD either, it’s just – kind of a “greatest hits” thing that you’ll only appreciate if you’ve been with the series from the beginning.) Next month is The Amazing Maurice and His Educated Rodents, the first of the Young Adult books, which should be interesting.
B) Then it was onto James Turner with the start of a challenge – trying to build the same house across the entire main Sims series – 1, 2, 3, 4 – and seeing what changes occur and what can be tweaked in the design as you move forward! Today’s video was all about making the base, aka building in Sims 1! James ended up making a very long two-bedroom house for Semaj, Iled, and their child Bowser (naturally based off him, Deli, and their very-much-not-human dog Bowser XD). It actually came out really nice, despite all of Sims 1’s various building quirks (not the least of which is the fact that it’s isometric – build to your angles in that game, people!). James had a good laugh about how many animal-themed things are in the first game, from cowprint couches to faux-pelt rugs and animal heads for the wall. He also made a room out in the back specifically for the pool table. XD But yeah, it’s cute, it’s livable, it’s got a good base design. Next time, we should see him recreate it in Sims 2! Ah, memories. . .
C) Then we had Call Me Kevin for a trip into Red Dead Redemption 2 – in VR! Apparently this is possible via modding. Kevin got into the game aaaand promptly killed himself falling off a cliff. XD He had a little more luck as he continued on – meeting Uncle, driving a cart to the nearest town, stopping a man beating up a woman (twice – technically three times when you count him shooting the first guy once and then getting a game over thanks to people retaliating), jumping on a moving train (and promptly regretting everything), going on a raid with his gang and shooting everyone with arrows, beating up random strangers, and starting a bar fight that ended when his opponents pulled out guns. XD Yes, Kevin is the most chaotic cowboy, and that is why we love him.
D) And finally we had GrayStillPlays and Delete Puzzle: Erase One Part! Yes, another one of those “erase something strange to win” games, which Gray loves – to accuse of being made on LSD. XD Though, seriously, when the game starts with hinted nudity behind a sandcastle, moves onto erasing Santa into a kidnapper, has you erase a chunk of a massage table SO A WOMAN’S GIGANTIC BREASTS can fit into the gap, and ends with turning a fairy-tale execution into a BDSM SCENE. . .yeah. I mean, there’s not much other explanation here. Where did you even find this, Gray? (And don’t say “on the Google Store,” you know what I mean!)
4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check! One thread, three asks on Valice Multiverse – not too bad, especially without needing to worry about getting off the computer and into bed by midnight.
That about covers it! I've had my nice cookies (chocolate crinkles and chocolate chip, om nom), and now I just have to finish answering DW comments, see what's going on with the Friday Night Writing Thing, and set up my to-do list for tomorrow! Which, being a cold and rainy cleaning Saturday. . .
1. Clean my room and do the big "sheets and blankets" laundry load
2. Watch the Sims-related videos and episode 2 of the OXBox RE8 playthrough in my Watch Later; do best to keep up with YouTube Subs as well
3. Download the hotfix for MC Command Center for the latest patch, then play Sims 4 and either build more Ice Cream Conery or visit the Chill Save
4. Work some more on the notes for the HypnoKink Verse -- possibly figure out a name for it
Yes, I am very pleased there is already a hotfix out for MCCC -- means if I want to play around a bit with the new Preferences feature, I can. :D And it's been a while since I went to the Chill Save anyway. . .admittedly that's because I'm trying to finish up the Newcrest Adventures cycle I'm on, so I can then start serious work on some new save files, like for my homemade challenges. . . Should make some backups of my save files first, though. Want to be prepared!
Anyway -- let's finish all this up and get moving. Night all!
