Late Because Of Trailer Drop
Jun. 10th, 2021 11:23 pmYes, I'm feeling very distracted because a) full day at work and b) latest Sims trailer dropped, so let's get through this fast so I can get to bed before midnight --
Work – PROBLEMS DAY. Best way to to describe it, trust me – I had problems with the credit card company, my coworkers had problems tracking down stuff, my boss I’m sure had his own problems with calls and whatnot – basically you couldn’t move for shit going wrong. Just what I want on the second day of my period. *grumbles* Hopefully tomorrow won’t be a repeat – and even if it is, at least it’ll be an hour shorter!
Beanbags – Back at it today because the weather was actually decent! Much cooler and drier, yay. . . Scores for me were consistent with what they have been – 3-2-2. Dad won the first two games, while Mom took the third by getting a ten on her final throw. :) Tomorrow should be good for beanbags too – in fact, since I’m getting out an hour early, maybe we can do five games. We’ll see!
To-Do List –
1. Get in a workout: Check! 30 on the bike, and 30 minutes with the latest Sims 4 news – the “Countryside” EP is now officially named as Cottage Living! It’s all about befriending and keeping animals, growing new crops, and basically having an English Countryside vibe. I watched the official reveal trailer (which featured discount Snow White getting pooped on by birds, adorable bunnies in sweaters, llamas spitting on foxes, the return of Agnes Crumplebottom whacking people, and a giant veg competition) and Fantayzia’s reaction to it and the official blog post (she, at least, is HYPE – she’s all for country living and what might be new family-ish gameplay – teaching kids how to farm and whatnot. She just wishes pigs had been included in the animals you keep). I am cautiously intrigued – I mean, it lines up with my own love of Sim gardening, and the new world seems perfect for Victor and Alice, but – we’ll see. Sims 4 does have a habit of living DOWN to expectations. . .
2. Post Chapter 5 of “In A World Of His Own”: Check – have the Sketchbook World chapter! This one was fun to write, from borrowing the “rainbow rain” concept from the “ME!” music video (the Taylor Swift/Brendon Urie song, if you recall), to using a storyboard Victor as his personality-chunk-in-residence, to the play-fight in the mud at the end. Especially the latter bit – I really like writing them just having fun together like that. Reasons why I loved the “tag” sequence in Cardbridge in “Fixing You.” XD Just one more little chapter to go, and we’re done!
3. Keep up with YouTube Subscriptions: Check, though that was super easy due to nobody uploading but James today. Suited me just fine, though, as it allowed me to knock out some more Sims videos –
A) Started with James Turner’s Cottage Living trailer reaction – he is pretty excited and optimistic, particularly liking that we have actual llamas in the game now. XD He also loves the adorable “hero” bunny in his jumper, and seems hyped to try and grow the biggest eggplants he can as part of the new “giant vegetables” thing you can do in this pack. His biggest squee, though? Noticing that the lot they created in the trailer seemed to indicate we can finally create our own real ponds! Not fountains or pools masquerading as same, but actual freaking ponds! I hope that’s a) true and b) base-game update. I don’t do much with terrain editing, but I’d make my Sims their own ponds if that was an option!
B) Then it was time for Plumbella and her reaction – to the “Farmland Mod Pack” trailer! Yeaaaah, turns out this Simmer named Arnie, who does giant mod packs that convert neighborhods into semi-open-worlds with rabbit hole destinations and such, JUST released the trailer for his own farming-themed mod. James explicitly mentioned feeling bad for him and his timing in his trailer reaction. I think Arnie’s gonna be just fine, though, as his mod pack has a lot to recommend it just from the trailer (which follows the life of the “hero” Sim of the area, George, and his wife Adele. . .there are some definite “opening of Up” vibes here, just warning you). There’s farming with some different animals than the official EP – Arnie’s version has pigs, sheep, and horses! (The latter of which I suspect are redone dogs, but don’t quote me on that.) You also have a bank that will actually give out loans if you have Discover University, a separate form of farmer’s market, an actual grocery store (you only get market stalls in the EP), a big open farm area to buy up bit by bit. . .I think a lot of people are gonna like this one! Plumbella certainly got emotional about it all. :)
C) Of course I had to watch Plumbella’s reaction to the actual Cottage Living official EP – and guess what, she’s excited for that one too! Like James, she is stoked for a possible pond tool (and like me, she feels it should be a base-game update), and she’s all for the countryside farming life – and the return of Mrs. Crumplebottom. XD And the possibility of lore in the new world, though I’m not personally holding my breath on that. Basically, she’s just happy to see a pack that isn’t “American life simulator” and seems very geared toward her own interests, and I’m happy for her. I hope it doesn’t let us down and really does become her new favorite pack!
4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check – put up the link to Chapter 5 and used the song from the new trailer for Song Saturday (oh, and there’s a reason to believe this EP might be good – they used the SIMLISH version of the song – “Be Sweet” by Japanese Breakfast, by the by. The last time I remember that happening, it was the Seasons reveal trailer, and that’s considered one of the better packs. I’m hoping!) on VictorLuvsAlice; and I just finished up the last ask for the queue on Valice Multiverse (three and one thread reply!). So that’s all sorted, whew.
And basically the rest of my afternoon/evening was spent reading all the latest on Cottage Living, so -- yeah. Let me peel myself away from the hype and answer my final DW comment, then get to bed. Still gotta get through one more day of work this week -- though, again, at least it's an hour shorter. *nods* Night all!
