I Am Le Tired This Thursday
Jul. 15th, 2021 11:13 pmMostly because I didn't sleep very well last night, for unknown reasons -- it was just SUPER hard to get comfortable! Ugh. . .anyway, let me give you the wrap-up:
Work – Another fairly quiet day, though there were a few more things that needed my attention – phone calls, adjustments to pledges and payments, things like that. I’m almost done with my spreadsheet of credit card stuff, at least! Can finish that off tomorrow in time for the weekend.
Beanbags – Sun’s back out, but so is the humidity – too hot and stifling. We’re in a really bad pattern weather-wise lately, and I don’t know when it’s gonna break. :(
To-Do List –
1. Get in a workout: Check! Back on the bike today, and watching a bit more of The English Simmer – her thoughts about the replayability and longevity of Cottage Living, to be precise. Her opinion is that while the chaotic feel of trying to run a farm is well done, and she can see it really appealing to anyone doing a rags-to-riches sort of challenge, or who just wants to do a bit of farming, she wishes that there was a bit more to foraging (aka finding new plants and mushrooms in the world) and canning, that the festivals were a bit better done, and that masculine-framed Sims got more in CAS. She’s also worried that the Errands you can do for the townies of Henford-on-Bagley will eventually either run out as you complete their “storyline,” or become dull and repetitive. My money’s on the latter, though I’m hoping modders find a way to take that system and open it up even more – it’s basically Sim Sidequests, and those along with Odd Jobs would be perfect for my Bloodlines and Fallout 4-based challenges! But yeah, she thinks it’s a fairly solid pack most people would enjoy – I’m certainly hopeful for it!
2. Write some more on “Learn To Love Again”: Check – actually finished up Chapter One! Alice has recounted her experience to some of the other Wonderlanders not present at the time, saying she enjoyed the compliment but disdaining all suggestions that she might see the man who paid it to her again. Naturally, Chapter 2 is going to open with her at a local coffee shop when you-know-who walks in. XD A bit nice to write something that doesn’t naturally go on for ages – though we’ll see how long Chapter 2 ends up, as Alice and Victor are supposed to lose track of time talking during it. . .
I also had some time this evening, so I worked some more on matching Sims 4 vampire powers to Bloodlines Disciplines (both the ones in the actual game, and the Thin-Blood ones from the information we got from the sequel). There’s a few that are just straight up great, and others that – well, I’m having to fiddle. Like linking Obfuscate (skulking around invisibly) with Eternally Welcome (able to lock and unlock doors into other people’s homes) on the basis of “both allow you to get into places where you’re not supposed to be.” I have NO idea what I’m going to do for Mentalism, though – that Thin-Blood Discipline from VTMB2 is literally just telekinesis. There’s no equivalent in Sims 4. *grumbles* I CAN make a Brujah, a Malkavian, a Toreador, and a Tremere just at the moment, though! And the only clan I currently have no matches for is Gangrel. Damn them not being in the sequel and their disciplines being hard to match. . .at least Nosferatu have Potence, which I already matched to Vampiric Strength!
3. Keep up with YouTube Subscriptions: Check – the easier night, since Gray isn’t uploading for the plebs. So I was able to sneak in an extra video along with the two regulars –
A) Started with a bit of Plumbella out of the Watch Later – her reacting to the house-building video from Paralives! She was quite pleased with all the squishy-squashy-stretchy customization of all the things (resizing everything from pictures to sofas to beds), and says that if they just released it as a building simulator, she’d buy it! But she also cautioned people about comparing it too much to The Sims and encouraged the audience to let it thrive on its own. Which, fair – as she reminded us, this is an indie game that started with a SINGLE DEVELOPER. It’s not gonna be the EA powerhouse – and considering what the powerhouse looks like currently, that’s probably a good thing.
B) Then moved onto James Turner and the next part of the Cottage Living Early Access LP! Chaz is moving fully into farming life, focusing most of his money-making efforts on chickens, eggs, and milk – though there was a close call with the cow when it looked like it was going to move onto greener pastures because Chaz let it sleep all day and it got hungry and dirty. Fortunately Chaz heeded the warning and got the darn thing out for a good brushing, feeding, and milking. He even learned that tipping a cow – as in, literally giving it money – will get you enriched milk! And eating golden eggs will leave you dazed but brilliant, as evidenced by skill gains when he fixed his toilet. XD He’s also moved fully into over-sized crops, growing one of each – and his eggplant is looking like it’s gonna be a big un! So that’ll be fun to see grow up. :D He’s also befriended some wild rabbits and given them a place to live on his farm, so now he has extra help with the weeding and the fertilizing. :) And for his OWN comfort, he’s finally built himself a SEPARATE bathroom, and upgraded his bed to the nice new double upstairs. And added a side door and some windows on his barn. XD Slowly but surely, it’s all coming together!
C) And then we had Call Me Kevin with another episode of Muck! You know, that adorable rogue-like survival game? Kevin gave it two goes this episode. The first run was “actually preparing for disaster” – building all his crafting stations; making sure he had more than enough food by killing every cow within reach; getting mithril ore early to make good weapons and armor; and slaughtering whole families of goblins for coin to open chests and get goodies. Sadly, none of this served him well against the boss monster of The Guardian, who wiped out his health at the end of the seventh night despite Kevin devouring cow haunches and setting down all sorts of decoy walls for it and its friends to destroy. The second run was a very short “fuck this, let’s hide up a giant ramp” run, where – well, Kevin built a giant ramp and hid at the top of it. And then accidentally destroyed his hiding spot, falling into the middle of a bunch of enemies. He ended up walking into the sea in a snit and drowning himself. XD Classic Kevin content – and he’s said he has one more strategy in mind to help him get through more than one week in this game, so hopefully that means another episode is forthcoming!
4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check! Victor Luvs Alice is already sorted, of course, so I just needed to do Valice Multiverse – four asks, one thread, all good.
So yeah, I guess not a bad day altogether -- I was just grumpier than usual from the tireds (and the commute -- I swear, RI drivers seriously LOVE to get right on your ass). So time to wrap up and head to bed, hopefully for a better night's sleep! At least tomorrow is only a half-day. . .night all!
