Cloudier Tuesday
Aug. 3rd, 2021 11:30 pmWhich I kept thinking was Wednesday for some reason. . .my brain is just sort of convinced my vacation is going to end sooner than it actually will, I guess. At least getting an extra day off will be a pleasant surprise now. XD
But yeah, weather wasn't as great today -- cloudier, and I swear more humid than it has been. Rain's supposed to move in tomorrow night and go through Thursday, so I guess it only makes sense. . .and then after that it's supposed to get REALLY humid. In my case, I HAD to turn on the AC tonight -- it's been warm in my room the past couple of nights, and I needed it to be cool so I could sleep a bit better. Looks like we're coming back to proper August weather now -- not sure I approve.
I do approve of how well I handled my to-do list today, though:
1. Write some more on "Learn to Love Again"/work some more on my Sims 4 challenges: Check on the first post-Sims – started Chapter 3 before lunch and did Victor and Alice meeting up again – this time with June in tow as Alice wanted backup after hearing about the “corpse bride” incident. Victor confessed to wanting to hear more about HER past, specifically the fire and Bumby, and now they’re all settling into the coffee shop to exchange life stories (well, Victor and Alice are – June might chime in at the end with “grew up extremely poor outside of Burtonsville, father walked out shortly before I was born due to gambling debts, older brother died when I was a baby, ended up becoming a really good cook sort of out of necessity?”). Summing up Corpse Bride is always kind of fun, just to see another character’s reaction to the story – at least this Alice isn’t going to dismiss him raising the dead outright!
2. Catch up on as much Plumbella as possible and keep up with YouTube Subs: Check – actually cleared out everything I wanted to clear out, yay! :D Slowly but surely the Watch Later is shrinking away. . .
A) Started with some James Turner, since I needed to catch up with two of his videos –
I. Cottage Living LP – The farm is expensive and the boys are struggling to keep up! Fortunately, Trenton being a master upgrader means that they can have nicely-upgraded dew collectors, generators, and wind turbines to help offset their power and water usage at least a little. Grim also got unstuck after James reset him (and allowed the evil chickens to roam free) and finally claimed Henmione and Cowlene, awww. The chickens are basically replenishing themselves (so many golden chicks!), but Chaz had to get a replacement cow – Cowtrina! XD Also, it looks like Hazel is leaning toward the brother with “Bigwallet” in his name – she called up Trenton and asked him to join the Renegades – a club that, I believe due to NPC deaths, has only two members, her and Trenton. So gathering was kind of weirdly like a date. I guess the alien blood shall continue on in the Bigwallet tree if they end up being endgame. But yeah, other than that, mostly just upgrading all the things, trying to keep on top of the farm, and James deciding that he really needs to start putting the greenhouse produce in the fridge instead of just letting it pop into household inventory so he can actually cook with it. The life of a farmer is never quiet, that’s for sure!
II. Dream Home Decorator LP – Hazel’s career continues to be a glitchy mess! James had her do two renovations today, both of which had issues. The first was a simple room renovation on the old Bigwallet Britechester townhouses (now owned by Grim and the servo whose name I can’t spell) – Hazel was successfully able to update the living room for the roommates to a better configuration with nicer furniture, but couldn’t actually host a proper reveal because all the doors were locked and thus she had to be teleported in and out to actually do anything (James allowed that this was largely his own fault because he compulsively locks doors in his LPs to keep NPCs out). The second one was a big-paying level addition at Holly Alto’s Strangerville home – only the game wouldn’t actually, you know, let him add a level. *sigh* I remember when I thought this pack was kinda cool. . . He resorted to freebuild to actually build and simply furnish a second story with more bedrooms, a second bathroom, and a little sitting area – Holly and her daughter Carol II loved it and gave Hazel a $5,000 bonus, meaning she earned 30 grand on that whole thing. *whistles* Quite the turnaround from when her power and water were BOTH shut off at the beginning of the episode! XD She’s also working on her painting aspiration for a change (with James allowing paintings to be sold off the easel just to advance in that – and pay her bills after the first job), and the thing between her, Trenton, and Chaz has just gotten more interesting, because I forgot Hazel was also in the Garden Gnomes club, and Chaz rung her up at the end of her job to ask to join THAT. Because, you know, gardening is his THING. Soooo. . . However, next episode is more building – Hazel’s buying the “house” next door, meaning it’s time to replace the debug object with a real house and get it ready to rent! Should be interesting. :)
B) Then it was onto some Plumbella –
I. “Agnes Crumblebottom VS Bonehilda: Fight to the Death (literally)” – Plumbella grabbed the Extreme Violence mod to set her two queens up against each other in the Windenberg ruins, with her and LilSimsie overseeing! There was some glitchiness and trouble getting both women into the family and against each other, but the match ended with Bonehilda having successfully killed Agnes via ripping her heart out. . .but with ANOTHER Agnes still limping around, having been brutalized by her double but not having died. Apparently she ends up cloning herself if you add her to the family, and the clone is immortal. So, uh, draw, I guess. :p At least Plumbella had fun?
II. “I HAVE BIG NEWS HENS, BIG NEWS” – short personal update video from Plumbella, which can be summed up like so: “I have decided on a schedule for uploads that I think works for me, and also I BOUGHT MY OWN HOUSE AAAAH” XD Yup, she is now a proud home-owner, and she shared how happy she was to have the place and some of her Pintrest boards about decorating it! Nothing special, but it’s nice to be included when she makes big announcements like that.
III. “The Horrific Crimes of Olive Specter (Entire History Of)” – aka “Plumbella drops all the lore surrounding a favorite horrible Sims 2 premade” XD Basically this was a sum-up of Olive Specter’s entire life, as seen through her memories and whatnot, detailing how she went through a number of fiancees and husbands and quietly killed them all, woohooing the Grim Reaper along the way and siring a son, Nervous Subject (later taken away and sent to the Beaker family). Apparently the very first death she recalls is one from her childhood, for a pizza delivery girl – and based on the layout of her family home, Plumbella thinks murder runs in the family and that Olive’s parents killed that poor girl. And then Olive later killed them. Also there were SO MANY punny names with Olive’s husbands and their siblings, I swear. XD It was fun stuff – Plumbella was very dramatic about it all, and she clearly has a lot of fun recapping these stories from earlier games. I usually don’t care much about the lore, but she makes me wish we had more going on between premade Sims in Sims 4.
IV. “So, The Sims 5…” – a simple video of Plumbella talking about the potential future of this franchise, starting with noting that it’s actually way overdue by usual standards (by roughly two years), and going on about some of the stuff she wants. My opinions basically align with hers – I’m okay with seasons being part of an expansion (though if the base game includes a simple rain system, I’d be happy with that); I’m fine with a semi-open world as opposed to a fully-open one (like you only get loading screens when traveling between neighborhoods, not between houses); personal cars are not really a need, but having public transport, school buses, and work carpools again would be nice; more variety in wall width and thickness (she’s talking about having chonky walls for stone castles, which WOULD be cool); more lore for the townies (obviously – and it is fun having stories in the world, I admit); and more consequences (Sims who hate each other shouldn’t joke around together). It’s interesting stuff, though I’m not sure how much I trust EA to follow up these days!
C) Then it was onto Call Me Kevin and more Cottage Living! The industrial farming of chickens is not going as well as hoped (mostly because the chickens keep threatening to leave due to neglect, mostly because the Father Winter trapped in there to take care of them keeps peeing on the floor and leaving plates everywhere), so Kevin has turned to the industrial farming of cowplants! XD But first, there was a bit of an adventure where Jim ate some horrible pufferfish and ended up dying. And Turg, to save him, had to travel to Sulani to get the final ingredient for Ambrosia. . .and met another Jim. O.o Jim 2 was invited to live with the family, and given the head of a hot dog costume to help distinguish him from real Jim once the latter was resurrected. Dunno what happened there, but I suspect it worked the same way as when I had two Chells in Newcrest. Anyway, another lady starved to death in the cow shed (and the cow herself left), and Jim trapped a late gardener and a newly-adopted child on a tiny island in the gator pond while waiting for his cowplants to grow. XD And then he hosted a party and let all his guests get fed to the cowplants so he could drink their emotional essences. We’ll see if he figures out how people end up dead from cowplantery in this game as opposed to past ones later. XD
D) And finally we wrapped up with GrayStillPlays and some more GTA V stunt course madness! Today’s was Spider-Man themed and had Gray alternately running his Florida Man (nattily attired in a red bathrobe and yellow underpants) over and around the architecture of the city in Spider-Man-themed parkour challenges (such as falling through a bunch of bushes to represent him crawling down a wall, and tightroping around a GIANT FLAMING HOOP – which he had to do in FIRST PERSON to avoid falling off), and driving on a special rocket-bike in giant city-wide hops assisted by boosts and going through all the tiny thumbnail holes. It ended with Gray base-jumping Florida Man through an overweight Spider-Man’s chest hole to win (that – sounded so wrong). There was much Gray cursing, much Gray pain, and much Gray awesomeness. Perfect GTA board!
3. Play some Sims 4 (either Chill Save or Newcrest Adventures): Check – ended up doing Newcrest Adventures because I remembered that the last time I played Emmett and Nikal, it was the Lottery and I wanted to see if they won. As I expected, though, it was a random NPC – ah well. I DID get Emmett a promotion by having him, as usual, torment the hell out of his coworkers. Yeah, most of the work tasks for the Scientist career are basically “mind control everyone around you in various ways and occasionally analyze stuff or give them potions.” We had the usual “change three people’s clothes,” and two hiveminds – I did Dance Party and Knockout. Also contacted aliens, but managed to cancel Emmett going to look at some weird lights later. I’m almost done with this family and this save file – do NOT get him pregnant, game! >( Ended the day with an adorable family dinner and some cuteness between Julia and Einstein. Next time I play them, we’re ending their week on Love Day! So that’ll be nice. :)
Also, before I played, I got the pictures ready for next week’s Newcrest Adventures update, yaaay. (Mostly because I wanted to move all the screenshots to the archive folder on my D drive so they weren’t taking up space on my C drive.) Let’s keep on keeping ahead! :)
4. Get in a workout: Check – another thirty on the bike to start Episode 5 of Jon’s Original FO4 Playthrough! Today was all about heading down to Lexington and the Corvega Assembly Plant to start taking out the raiders holed up in there for the settlers of Tenpines Bluff! Jon got a bit distracted exploring Lexington itself, praising how open Fallout 4 is and how it seems to encourage exploration and all that. He also took out tons of feral ghouls which, uh, proved to be kind of deleterious to his ammo situation. . .he had to swap to a shittier pipe pistol over his his handy Long Hardened Powerful 10mm because he was running out of shots for the latter. He also got exploded once by a raider with a Fat Man, was shocked to discover raiders get POWER ARMOR now, loaded Miss Jon and Dogmeat up to capacity with junk and scavenged guns, and spent some time sniping off a bunch of raiders from the outside of the plant, before ducking inside and finding WAY MORE RAIDERS THAN HE WAS EXPECTING. Weirdly enough, holing up in a corner actually proved to work to his advantage, funneling the raiders towards him in easy-to-shoot positions, but I think poor Miss Jon might die at least once more before this episode’s over. *pats her* He learns, Miss Jon, he learns.
5. Get tumblr queues sorted: Check! Got the Newcrest Adventures update on Victor Luvs Alice sorted after catching up on the last of my YouTube Subs (two posts, so it was pretty simple), and set up three asks plus one thread reply over on Valice Multiverse!
Additionally:
-->Another round of beanbags today, even with the somewhat-less-nice weather – I had 2-2-3-W-2, Dad W-3-2-3-W, and Mom 3-W-W-2-3. Dad got a nice palindrome score, Mom had a much better game than the last two days, and I COULD have won the last one if I hadn’t wiffed my shots on a 19 and only gotten one on the board, meh. But hey, still, everybody won one, I am content.
Not bad, not bad! Waking up earlier to get writing and gaming done in the morning seems to be working out pretty well for me this week. I need to keep it in mind for future vacations. . . As it stands now, though, I have some more comments and whatnot to answer, so let me get tomorrow's to-dos situated:
1. Edit some more on "Londerland Bloodlines"/work some more on the Sims 4 challenges
2. Watch the two Hitman 3 videos from Many a True Nerd in my Watch Later and keep up on YouTube Subs
3. Play Bloodlines and see about finishing some more of the Santa Monica missions
4. Get in a workout
5. Work on tumblr queues
