Look At That, A Decent Time To Update
Sep. 1st, 2021 11:03 pmFinally got a bit more of a handle on this thing. . .possibly because I was worried it was thundering earlier and thus I might need to do a DIFFERENT kind of rushed update, but still. :p Raining pretty heavily, though -- we'll see how this goes throughout the night! Hopefully we won't suffer any flooding, given it was raining off and on throughout the day too. . .
All right, let's have the update form:
Work – Another quiet day, though we had some morning issues with more credit card nonsense, and somebody calling in insisting a gift should be in one campaign when it had to go into another. *grumbles* Well, what can you do except send e-mails to your boss and see if he ever replies. Hopefully tomorrow will have less of those annoyances!
To-Do List –
1. Get in a workout: Check – another bike ride, another chunk of Jon’s Original FO4 Playthrough! Having just taken Gun Nut 3, Miss Jon popped back off to Sanctuary (where the majority of her junk is stored) and happily upgraded a bunch of her guns to be max damage, including her combat shotgun (a meaty 147 base) and her sniper rifle (107 base with a long recon scope). With all that sorted, she popped back to Goodneighbor to check out The Third Rail bar –
And came across MacCready, being menaced by Gunners Winlock and Burke! Past!Jon was like “is this Fallout 3 MacCready??” and in talking to him, accidentally hired him. And I guess the potential nostalgia factor kept him from immediately dismissing the guy, as he just sent Dogmeat off to Sanctuary Hills and continued wandering around Goodneighbor with his new companion. (Incidentally, yes it is the FO3 MacCready, in case you’re in any way familiar with that game.) Miss Jon checked out the rest of The Third Rail, unsuccessfully flirting with Magnolia and taking the job of clearing out the warehouses from Whitechapel Charlie – hell, she already did the first one on her own, so why not take out the others, especially with new help at her side? She even talked Charlie up to 300 caps, which MacCready quite liked. :)
After clearing out the warehouses, getting her reward, and stumbling across some of the Neighborhood Watch having just taken out a replacer synth, the next stop was the Hotel Rexford! There she met Fred Allen, chemist (and chem-user) extraordinaire, who tasked her with heading out to Hallucingen Inc. to get anything fun she could find there, and – upon taking a room and going to investigate it – the Vault-Tec Rep! Past!Jon was actually thrilled to see the guy survived, and happily had Miss Jon invite him to live in Sanctuary Hills. Hopefully the guy makes it (he’s not essential and CAN be killed en-route if you don’t have the right mods). That, a bit of room looting, and taking out some Triggermen roughing up a drifter ended most of Miss Jon’s Goodneighbor adventures, so Past!Jon started Episode 21 by sending her off to Diamond City to meet up with Bobbi No-Nose for the big dig! Bobbi (nattily disguised in a big old gas mask, so at least there’s SOME concession to the “no ghouls in Diamond City” thing) let Miss Jon know that the job was to rob from Diamond City’s mayor, which Past!Jon was all for. They just need to break her usual tech guy, Mel, out of the Diamond City lock-up. But before that could happen, two other quests fired –
First, Paul Pembroke caught up with Miss Jon and asked for her help as a sort of “bodyguard” to take care of Henry Cooke and make him stop sleeping with his wife. Miss Jon got some caps off him and then, via tuxedo, convinced him it would be better for her to see Cooke alone, as Paul was too pissed off to handle this well. Second, MacCready started one of his affinity conversations (having loved most of Miss Jon’s talents in asking for more money for jobs and whatnot), explained his desire for caps as a need to buy the Gunners off, then asked if she’d be willing to help him take them out at their usual digs in an ambush. Miss Jon was willing to do so, as Past!Jon wanted to get his companion perk, so it looks like before the dig, they’re off to kill some Gunners! Good times. :)
2. Edit some more on "Londerland Bloodlines": Check! Alice has acquired another “memory” – the newspaper about the second kid being chopped up like firewood – and explored the two open rooms on the right side of the hotel’s second level (as you come in). She’s just ignored Ed’s warning carved into the wall and managed to avoid being smashed to smithereens by everything in the second room. Not having a good night, is our Alice. Fortunately Cheshire’s about to take pity on her and drop a hint as to where she’s supposed to go, and our dear ghostly lady will be doing the same shortly. . .
3. Keep up with YouTube Subscriptions: Check! No James again today, so I took advantage of the opportunity to catch up with some other videos --
A) Actually started with the latest Atop The Fourth Wall – “The Dresden Files: Storm Front, vol. 1!” This is the first part of a comic adaptation of what I assume to be the first Dresden Files book, and – it’s pretty decent! If crammed so full of plot it’s about to burst. Harry’s investigating a murder case of two people who had their hearts blown out during sex – an escort working for a vampire, and the bodyguard of a mob boss who wants Harry to ignore the case so he can deal with the murderer himself – has gotten himself tangled up in a “cheating husband” case that is taking some weird turns, and got himself a date with a reporter that goes badly wrong when he a) forgets about the date, b) gets attacked by some sort of demon while showering to prepare for the date, c) his date ends up drinking a “love” potion Harry made at the request of his skull-creature buddy Bob and he has to counteract that, d) he ends up having to kill the demon using the power of the storm raging outside once he manages to teleport himself and date away from it – and he’s doing all this naked. Yeah, Harry’s got a lot going on right now. XD We’ll see if Vol. 2 ever becomes a thing, but it was certainly a more pleasant review than some Linkara’s tackled!
B) Then it was time for Plumbella’s latest, with “small features that i REALLY miss :(” – a list of things from older games that Plumbella wishes were in Sims 4. Stuff like aspiration failures (she likes the aspirations as they are, but thinks there should be some sort of failure state for them – I think that would require the return of wants and fears, which – hey, should still happen); a proper curfew that results in sneaky teenagers being brought home by the police; a proper intro (I chimed in with “let’s bring back ALL the cinematics, they were fun”); private school as a goal for kids, and military school as a punishment (though she doesn’t want the “the kid disappears forever” version from The Sims, just something that will be an effective deterrent for bad grades); proper transport for Sims – not necessarily personal cars, but carpools, buses, stuff like that; more rabbit hole locations (she thinks this could add some life to neighborhoods, but – I dunno, I really only like that for careers and other specific activities); and food poisoning (she just mentioned “sickness,” which baffled me because Get To Work diseases running rampant can STILL be a problem in-game). Basically, just add a little more drama, she’ll be happy. :p
C) Over in the actual Subs, we had Call Me Kevin and – according to the tags, Road 96! A game about a road trip that maaaay be about fleeing a totalitarian country? At any rate, each one is procedurally generated, and the goal is to make it to Road 96, as per the title! Kevin’s journey took his character to a big old party hosted by the dictator, where he was the special guest of “Sonya” (some sort of celebrity), playing various minigames (and doing REALLY well at the cup game) up until his escort disappeared and he had to hitch-hike. Then he grabbed a ride with Stan and Mitch, who tried to chase down Sonya’s stalker while Kevin helped them avoid traffic in the sidecar of their motorcycle! He was – reasonably good at this. XD After failing to catch the guy, Kevin was dropped off at a friendly rest stop camp, where he played terrible trombone with Zoe and got a tape from her to remember her by. And then he ended up in Jarod’s taxi – and Jarod turned out to be a killer, one who Kevin was unable to escape. Darn. It was a fun little adventure, though, and he’s indicated he’s willing to play again, so we’ll see if a sequel shows up!
D) And then it was time for GrayStillPlays and Stickman Last Hero! We’re back to the “break all the bones in this stick figure multiple times” games, and it is beautiful. :D This one specifically has a variety of “launch yourself onto/through this particular thing” challenges, and Gray was determined to complete every one, no matter how many bones he shattered along the way. Things like launch his character into a basketball hoop; launch the Stickman through a ring at the top of the Eiffel Tower; collect three cherries while avoiding the TNT on the ground (turns out there’s sky-cherries he eventually managed to pick up); fling yourself onto a TNT-laden island in the middle of a pool (involved spearing himself on the shipwreck and letting a splintered chunk touch the actual sand); and – hilariously – getting the banana car he so wanted, only to be told “don’t move.” XD PLUS he managed to glitch the game out after hitting a bouncer obstacle just the right way and ended up getting infinite points, so yay. XD
4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check, though given I already had a full set of stuff for this week on Victor Luvs Alice, it was literally just a case of resetting the queue speed back to “one post a day.” Still, check’s a check.
So THAT'S all sorted, at least. And I'm caught up on tumblr and whatnot, so -- yeah, doing good tonight! Just have to hope I sleep halfway decently, is all. . . Night all!
All right, let's have the update form:
