crossover_chick: Alice (Wonderland) looking kind of confused (AMA: WTFery?)
New York and New Jersey get flash floods, while we just get about four inches of rain and a reasonably nice day once the sun comes out. *shrug* I mean, I'm HAPPY that it wasn't worse, but it does feel kind of weird to have all these weather events hyped up as potential dangers (I mean, we had a tornado watch for a while!), and then nothing comes of them. I'm now getting worried what'll happen the day the weather people DISMISS a storm that's supposed to come near us. . .

Anyway -- not too bad a Thursday, I suppose, once the last of the rain cleared out. Your update form as per usual:

Work – A little more to do than most days – I spent most of my morning going over stuff that was still outstanding and getting some credit card stuff sorted (mostly), then a good portion of the afternoon was looking over old pledges about to be written off and fixing what I could with reversals. *shrug* Made the day go by!

Additionally, because it actually DID get nice out this afternoon, we got in our three rounds of beanbags – Me 3-W-2, Dad 2-2-W, Mom W-3-3! Yeah, I had a terrible first game, but managed to come back in the second one (helped by Dad missing a throw that would have definitively won it for him), while Mom had a great first game, and then choked in the other two. But we all won one, and that makes me happy. :)

To-Do List

1. Get in a workout: Check – more bike time, more time with Jon’s Original FO4 Playthrough! Miss Jon, eager to get MacCready’s companion perk (and then to fob him off on Sanctuary so she could get Dogmeat back), went ahead and traveled to the interstate exchange (a bunch of old ruined highways) where Winlocke and Barnes had set up camp. Miss Jon was able to climb around on the highways and take out most of their crew and Barnes himself from afar – Winlocke (and his power armor, and his Assaultron) required some close-up action with her shotgun in the end. But they both went down, and MacCready thanked her for her help and said that would send a definite message. He even returned the caps she paid him, aww. But since this is only stage ONE of his companion quest, Miss Jon’s stuck with him for a little while more. At least until Past!Jon gets sick of him and dismisses him. :p

With that out of the way, Miss Jon decided to tackle the Henry Cooke situation next. Henry wasn’t exactly receptive to her attempts to ask him, nicely, to leave Darcy alone, but then decided that Darcy probably WASN’T worth the trouble when he could get this nice intimidating woman to help him out with something. Namely, ambushing the drug deal between Trish and her Triggermen from Goodneighbor and Nelson Latimer, an Upper Stands kid who liked drug dealing. He decided bringing in Miss Jon and Paul was a good way to “apologize” for sleeping with Darcy – Paul was up for it, and they headed over to Back Street Apparel, where the deal was going down. Miss Jon took down Trish with her sniper rifle, and then, once the Triggermen were dispatched, confronted her about the chems. Trish gave up the location of her employer’s chem lab and the password to shut down security in exchange for being allowed to live and not tell her boss Marowski what really happened – Miss Jon agreed, Henry Cooke didn’t and splattered Trish’s brains. (Granted, Past!Jon felt this was the smartest course of action and ended up having her help.) Henry then said he was leaving town in order to avoid Marowski’s wrath, and Paul suggested a fifty-fifty split of the money from the chems. Miss Jon got him to go for seventy-thirty, and an annoyed Paul said “fine, but YOU have to sell them” essentially and walked away in a snit. Miss Jon ALMOST shot him, but – well, Past!Jon decided to let him live. Better than what Miss Finalley did! Instead she found her way over to the chem lab, turned off the security, killed the workers, and looted the place. Another quest done!

And with all that out of the way, it was finally time for the Big Dig! Miss Jon decided that she was going to keep things simple with breaking Mel out of prison and just bribed the guard with 300 of the caps that she got off of Nelson’s body. Mel let her know that Bobbi wasn’t really one to be trusted, but agreed to meet her over at the dig, where he appeared with his newest robot, a modified eyebot named Sonya, who could blast through fragile walls with sonic pulses. The gang worked their way through the underground tunnels, trying to figure out the best path for Sonya (and occasionally running into trouble from Mirelurks – and from MacCready loving to throw grenades around. On the plus side, Miss Jon found a set of Power Armor, but realized quickly the lack of a helmet, and thus a headlamp, meant wandering around in it would mean she couldn’t see very well). They eventually found the stronghold and broke in through the floor, though Mel was suspicious, since they didn’t seem far enough north for Diamond City’s stronghold. . .

Yeah, they were still in Goodneighbor, and they were robbing Hancock. Fahrenheit, his bodyguard (and possibly daughter, if you believe the code) was already there waiting for them and filled in Miss Jon. Past!Jon INSTANTLY was all for betraying Bobbi, and opened fire the minute he could. Left it off with Miss Jon apologizing to Fahrenheit about the trouble, since she genuinely didn’t know – Fahrenheit said Hancock would understand. Wonder how Past!Jon will react to Hancock understanding enough to want to be a companion. XD

2. Write some more on "Learn To Love Again": Check – Alice has wrapped up the A:MR stuff and moved into what happened afterward – June actually showed up before Alice could find Bumby’s journal in this world (allowing Alice to bring her up to speed), and when she did locate it and bring it to Bow Street, Tailor was actually there asking about Bumby’s accident, allowing her to kill two birds with one stone. Dr. Wilson of course still took over the home, and Alice was okay with him doing so because, well, devil she knows, and I write him as actually giving a damn, so. . . Just gotta wrap things up with her bringing Victor up to speed as to why she now also works at the Opera House!

3. Keep up with YouTube Subscriptions: Uh – super easy check tonight – as today’s Gray’s day off from the plebs, and James didn’t upload, I had exactly one video in the Subs. O.o Fortunately I found a few other things I could watch too –

A) Started with the latest OXBox list video, “7 Amazing Sequels That Rescued the Series from Total Disaster!” Featuring such entries as Saints Row 2 (from reasonably competent GTA clone to “you know what, screw it, let’s get wacky” over-the-top fun); Red Dead Redemption (apparently a sequel to an earlier Rockstar game, Red Dead Revolver – who the hell knew?); and Fallout 3 (Bethesda may be committed to making their games glitchy messes, but it is worth noting that they took a franchise that had been dead for about a decade and made it popular again). Oh, and of course Street Fighter II (seriously, does anyone remember the original these days? Probably not, it looks pretty bog-standard). Andy and Luke make a fine team for these videos, though I am wondering where everyone else is. O.o

B) Then, in the Subs, we had Call Me Kevin and some VR fun in Traffic Jam, a game all about directing traffic! Both vehicle AND pedestrian as it turned out – it’s all about getting people to stop, go, and hurry up with the appropriate hand gestures! When you’re not deliberately getting them hit by cars or flinging stolen frisbees at balloons to fulfill objectives. Or making infinite copies of this one fish. Or trying to fight zombies by having cars run them over. Or trying to fight copyright-free Godzilla in stormy Tokyo with a bottle of ketchup. Or trying to wave at your boss who keeps dancing in the background but he JUST WON’T ACKNOWLEDGE YOUR HAND GESTURES – What I’m saying is, this game has a lot more to it than you think. Kevin and his hi-viz jacket fit into the chaos very well. XD

C) Then I finished up with a couple more old episodes of Lore By Night, the VTM podcast! Caught up on the Camarilla and Anarch episodes, which discussed how each was formed back in the Dark Ages, and how each generally operates, with a bit more detail on the Camarilla side (indeed, the Anarch episode straight-up repeated a bunch of stuff from it regarding the creation of the sect). Interesting stuff, though the background music remains kind of annoyingly loud. Meeeh. Still, good way to kill twenty-odd minutes!

4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check – rather busy day on Valice Multiverse, with five ask replies and a surprise thread resurrection! Got them all sorted, though.

Aaand -- that's about it! Pretty mundane Thursday, honestly. I'll take it over the weather disasters the rest of the country seems to be experiencing. (Again, just worrying when it'll be our turn. . .) And now I just have to get through a half-day tomorrow and I've got a long weekend. Nice. :) Night all!
