Another Day Of Late
Aug. 18th, 2022 11:52 pmAs evidenced by my update time, so let's get this show on the road:
Work – Ugh – one of those days where a lot of little annoyances add up. Traffic getting in was a bit of a pain (got stuck behind a car going slower than normal and it took me forever to get into the other lane); there was an annoying back-up at the back door to the building because of someone talking to someone else in a car just below; I actually genuinely ran out of things to do at the end of the day (completed all obituaries, roster maintenance, the works); and the ride home was a miserable slog for no well-explained reason. Ugh, I say again. At least tomorrow’s just a half-day!
Beanbags – Yes again thanks to the nice weather – and third verse is same as the first! (Or, well, fourth is the same as the second, as this streak started on Tuesday, but you get what I mean.) Dad and I had good games, while Mom gave it her best go but came up short – final scores were me W-2-2; Dad 2-W-W; Mom 3-3-3. We’ll see if Friday brings any change to these scores!
To-Do List –
1. Get in a workout: Check – another night on the bike, to finish off the Oxventure Stream “Chart of Darkness!” The gang rushed out of the Explorium or whatever it was called (stopping only briefly to pick up their GIANT commemorative portrait of them being “attacked by a shark” at the start of the escape room series – yeah, remember that? Good times) to find a pirate ship anchored in the bay, and a rowboat approaching the shore. It was indeed helmed by Jack Crackson (a spindly pirate with long dirty blond hair and a haughty expression), and rowed by two NPC pirates whom Corazon recognized as Bertha and Brinkson, a close-knit pair who are not important to this story. Corazon immediately opened by asking Jack what gives and telling him they killed his monkey. XD Jack was – not pleased to hear that, as you might imagine, and asked why he killed his monkey – Corazon said that the monkey tried to steal their map, he didn’t even know it was Jack’s, and anyway a robot snake ACTUALLY finished her off. None of this made Jack feel any better, and even the Oxventurers were like “sheesh, Corazon, you could have led into that better? And also, no, we wanted you to CATCH the monkey, not kill it.” XD The conversation did come around as to WHY Jack had Matilda try to steal the map – doesn’t he want to be uncursed? Jack agreed that he did want to break the curse, but – well, he found a buyer for the map! Corazon was like “oh crap, is it my dad again?” and Jack confirmed it wasn’t (though he also confirmed that Lord Milquetoast DID find him and start talking about being pirate royalty, and he and Corazon briefly commiserated on having to deal with the guy’s jerky mid-life crisis). Corazon and the others began insisting that they needed the map more, with Corazon in particular being determined to be the one to break the curse because he felt like he owed it to everyone –
And then Jack was like, “Look, if you want to come along and try to break the curse on the way or something, that’s fine with me, but I gotta run things by her first.”
EVERYONE instantly went quiet, because there is one big “her” in this campaign these days. Dob promptly came up to him, gave him the cymbals and commiserated over the loss of the monkey, then warned Jack that, if the “her” was who they thought it was, she was bad news and likely to just kill him the moment she got what she wanted. Jack protested, saying they got on fine and that she’d given him tons of money, but Dob pointed out that none of that meant she wouldn’t kill him once she was done with him –
And that’s when Jack said he could talk it over with her now, she was on the boat.
Cue HORROR as Liliana appeared on the pirate ship deck, drow and proud and ready to rumble. She offered the Oxventurers a choice – just hand over the map now and be killed quickly and painlessly, or try to run and see how far they could get. She even promised them a sporting chance for the latter, opening up a portal and dumping the Joyful Damnation into the water nearby. She then dissolved into maniacal laughter, fully content and confident in her evil.
Corazon immediately took the opportunity to kick Jack Crackson in the crotch as hard as possible and yell at everyone to “RUN!” before leading the charge to the rowboat so they could get to the Joyful Damnation. And that’s where this particular adventure ended, with the group preparing for a hell of a chase next time! Oooo, I’m excited~
That DID only take up about half of my workout, though, so I slipped in a couple of Petey Plays It Sims 4 videos as well: “28 Seasons Gameplay Ideas To Try” (a quick run-down of most of the big and small gameplay moments if you have the Seasons expansion pack, including getting into skating (both ice and roller), becoming a beekeeper, going through the official Gardening career, trying to become a storm chaser and channel lightning, becoming a serial killer Sim who freezes people to death, and romancing Father Winter) and “Every Curse Explained And Rated” (a run-through of the Realm of Magic curses you can pick up and how badly they affect your Sim – the one that makes you hug people and the one that makes you worse at dueling are pretty good as they can’t affect your daily life too much, while the “Night Wraith” one really can screw with your poor Sims life). Good stuff, and a good lead-in to the weekend!
2. Continue writing “As Long As You Love Me”: Check – I have completed the latest chapter with Alice managing to murder a guy by luring him out into the road via confusing profanity to get hit by a bus. Victor, despite everything, is still astonished she can pull this shit off. XD Ended it with them going to get breakfast before getting back on the road – I guess Chapter Seven should be them finally finding Barkis? Unless I decide that they need some more on-screen bonding time first. . .hmmm. Something to figure out later!
3. Keep up with YouTube Subs: Check – easy enough because it was another “no-upload Thursday” in said Subs, which allowed me to catch up with other things –
A) First up, from the Watch Later, it was the latest AT4W – “Comic Book Quickies #11!” A nice short look at some advertisement comics, broken up with entries from the Super Dictionary. Today’s shorts included a Hostess Fruit Pie comic where Commissioner Gordon got kidnapped and the city instantly descended into chaos; comics advertising a subscription deal from both DC and Marvel – DC using an actual editor on their books, Carol Fein, shilling the “4 for 3” deal to Superman and Batman, while Marvel just had DOCTOR DOOM give the speech; and a comic from the back of the Mr. T cereal box where Mr. T had to track down some robbers who’d stolen a Mr. T cereal truck and refused to share with some nearby kids. XD Nice and simple silliness today, AND we got both Linkara’s famous Batman and Linkara’s famous Doctor Doom in the same episode. Total win there!
B) And then it was over to the Subs to catch up with GrayStillPlays’s episode from yesterday – “I took anger management to unreasonable extremes” in Rage Control! Another one of those “auto race along a course picking up something to turn your character into a specific type of thing” mobile games, this one made you play as a discount Hulk, who had to pick up fists of rage to deal with some obstacles (police and military personnel firing on you, police cars and walls sitting in your way), and hearts of love to deal with others (tip-toeing across glass panes, making it across monkey bars without breaking them, sliding through laser beam walls). Standard stuff made more entertaining by Gray asking why the police kept parking police cars for him to break in his path and lamenting every time he missed one of the love heart cakes that makes you instantly the most calm version of yourself. Because he may not like calm, but he does like cake. :p Hear hear, Gray, hear hear.
4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check – put in a few more bits of information I’ve come up with for my other Alton Towers Coasters OCs (mainly sibling and parent relationships and whatnot) on the draft of that post on Victor Luvs Alice, and got one ask reply and one thread reply in on Valice Multiverse! Nice and easy!
*nods* Good, good -- and now I have to finish answering my messages and head to bed, as I still have one more (half)day to get through! Night all!
