Welp, No 10:04 Tonight
Oct. 21st, 2022 11:49 pmDarn it, and I meant to as well -- but then I got caught up in watching a YouTube video and it didn't hit me that I'd missed it until 10:10 PM. Meeeh. I suppose there will be other chances next week! As it stands, here how my day has gone:
Work – Another quiet day mostly about duplicates for me – the thing with the printer was fixed, though (turns out it was the paper, it had a film of plastic on it that was burning up when it met the fuser), so I guess that’s something. Also had a couple of credit card calls, but that was about it. Afternoon really dragged, I must admit. At least it’s the weekend now!
Beanbags – Yes, though despite slightly warmer weather I did NOT do great – Mom instead had the best day with a pair of wins, while I was lucky to come second in the first game. Meeh. Final scores were me 2-3-3; Dad 3-W-2; Mom W-2-W. Hopefully I can redeem myself tomorrow!
To-Do List –
1. Get in a workout: Check – one more night on the bike to finish off Oxventure Orbpocalypse Episode 9, “Fools of Engagement!” Having beaten Vocatus to within an inch of his life (and Shattered his groin), the group began making their demands, starting with “give Prudence her magic back” – with Dob acting as the “Good Cop” by offering healing magic, and Prudence as the “Bad Cop” with her two halves of a seedy rack. XD Egbert pointed out Dob was offering to heal the damn villain before any of his friends, leading Vocatus to ask if they always fight like this. XD (Egbert basically said “yes” – and I say that you’re getting some karma here, buddy, given that Dob’s essentially had to BEG you for Cure Wounds before!) Dob admitted things were weird because of Katy, leading Vocatus to admit that he was planning on doing their wedding and providing loads more magic wine to spread the party further. Corazon pointed out that all this partying was just going to lead to a bunch of dead people, so STOP IT ALREADY.
And that’s when Vocatus admitted he couldn’t, because he’d poured so much magic into these cauldrons and gotten the ball rolling so fast, he just couldn’t wave his hand and put it all back to normal. He needed more magic to steal first. Corazon was like “you want us to make you more powerful?!” but Vocatus said that he wasn’t about to steal their magic, they’re the people more than willing to brutalize his groin. (And indeed, Egbert was already suggesting they go that route again. . .) Prudence called a huddle and said it sounded to her like what Vocatus wanted was LILIANA’S magic (or perhaps she was suggesting their archnemesis as a target) –
And Katy asked who Liliana was. Cue Merilwen violently elbowing her out of the group over Dob’s protests, and THEN suddenly seeing an opportunity and claiming that Liliana was Dob’s OTHER girlfriend, egged on by Prudence, who was discovering a new source of power in DRAMA. XD Things did not get much better when Dob had to confess that he had one of Liliana’s hairs (he stole that from scrying pool back when they were dealing with her cult, I believe – the one where he impaled a goat-demon with Thunderwave. . . *checks the name* “Sect Appeal!” That one). Everyone was like “The hell? Why? Where did you get that?” XD Katy offered to head off to the pub and get drinks, requesting a list of Dob’s allergies first, which he gave (Merilwen facepalmed), then asked him about Liliana – Dob tried to play it off as “she’s a powerful magic user, there was a bit of a thing, it’s no big deal. . .” And then had to say that Liliana probably had never heard of Katy, which, uh, BAD MOVE. Katy flounced off, and Dob got like ten points of ice damage. Damn. Thoroughly annoyed with everything now, Dob showed Vocatus the hair and asked if the owner would have enough magic for him to use – Vocatus said it seemed likely and asked for her name so he could find her. They told him, and he seemed to scry for a moment in Egbert’s breastplate. . .
And then grinned, thanked them, and banished himself. Well, fuck. That’s not good. And that is where we leave it until next week, where we start slowly wrapping things up with Episode 10, “Plandemonium!”
All that actually only took about ten minutes of my workout, though, so I ended up watching two ItsMeTroi videos on Sims 4 mods too – one she would recommend to anyone just starting out with the now free-to-play base game (classics like MC Command Center, UI Cheats, and More Columns In CAS, plus stuff like SimDa for dating, the bank mod for banking, and the Bed Cuddle mod for cuteness); one of newer mods that she just wanted to show off (including a LOT of new food mods from some new modders on the scene, Somik and Severinka). Nice enough stuff to pedal to, even if I got a little tired of her love of all the booze options S&S provided. *shakehead*
2. Continue writing “Londerland Bloodlines”: Check – with the help of a nearby vent, Alice has made it past the jumpy Tong member and his unimpressed, laconic companion, and is back to invisibly creeping along. She’s made it down to level three, which is the Operators gang again (yes, I DID take that name from the Nuka-World FO4 DLC XD), who are distracted by how cold the garage is and how Darling Violetta (a band that provided a song for the soundtrack, “Smaller God”) is playing at the Empire Arms Hotel (which they kind of are! There’s an NPC in the events room singing the song that apparently looks like the lead singer) and how they should go. Cheshire doesn’t think Alice should have ANY trouble sneaking past these guys. XD
3. Keep up with YouTube Subs: Two-thirds check – while Kevin’s latest video wasn’t TOO long, I got to it a bit late, meaning I only had time for that and the shorter Fun With Shorts video this evening. Have to double up on the Gray tomorrow! But for now –
A) First up, we had Call Me Kevin with his latest video: “Octodad is an amazing disaster!” Yes, he has returned to Octodad: Dadliest Catch to replay one of the most famous horrible “flopping around and getting stuck to EVERYTHING” physics puzzlers. Naturally, there was a lot of Kevin wrecking the scenery without meaning to. And WITH meaning to. Also occasionally threatening his children with an axe, leaving them stranded at the bottom of some escalators going the wrong way in a dark jellyfish exhibit, and destroying their ability to play games in the kelp area of the local aquarium. Also monopolizing the play area in the local grocery store. Also winning loads of plushies for his wife in the arcade, only for her to toss them away to be used to plug holes in the fish tank. Because it’s Octodad’s job to fix that, I guess. XD Also a lot of falling into a cafeteria that was on fire because it’s very hard to stay up on those rafters when parts of them keep falling away. Basically it was good, silly, floppy fun, and it’s always a treat to get to see Kevin cause chaos. :P
B) And then it was time for this week’s Fun With Shorts – “Butterflies,” Part 3! The final chunk of the short on butterflies Josh has been riffing, featuring a look at how butterflies use their wings to soak up solar energy by basking (apparently they can only fly at 80F internal temperature), how their proboscis works (like a curly straw), and how they can use their feet to taste things (a factoid I already knew from childhood). I guess reasonably educational, but not great, especially with the terrible soundtrack. At least Josh’s riffs remained on-point!
4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check – just the one thread reply on Valice Multiverse, which was nice and simple. :)
Not too shabby! Let's get the Saturday to-dos sorted now:
1. Continue writing "The Joker And The Queen"
2. Keep up with YouTube Subs, watch the Plumbella in my Watch Later, watch something Doc Brown-related
3. Play Sims 4 and either do SimCity Founding with Valicer or more building
4. Work on tumblr drafts
Pretty typical non-cleaning Saturday stuffs -- the Doc Brown item in the YouTube entry is because it's Christopher Lloyd's birthday tomorrow. :) And I'm keeping my options open with Sims 4 because I still don't know if some of my mods are good or not. *sighs* This is the problem with adding mods to your game -- you're at the mercy of the creators' schedules, and whether or not they say their mods are compatible. I believe most of my big ones are, but. . . *shrug* We'll see if anything changes in the morning! Night all!
