First Day Back To Work :(
Jan. 2nd, 2024 11:39 pmAnd while it wasn't a total shitshow, it wasn't the greatest -- on the plus side, had a pretty good afternoon:
Work – Meh return to work, as stated – one of my coworkers wasn’t in because she felt sick, so it was just me and the Talky one taking on what was waiting for us after the long break. Fortunately, there wasn’t that much in the pipeline; UNFORTUNATELY, my damn credit card computer wouldn’t connect to our credit card processor’s site today. Fortunately I only had the one credit card to change, but it was still EXTREMELY annoying. Add in that I had to help take care of a bunch of requests to look stuff up AND I had to slog my way through multiple GLs (well, I say that – a couple of them went fast, it was just the one day that all the credit card gifts posted that was a problem), and – yeah. While it wasn’t HORRENDOUSLY busy, it was still a little more stressful than I would have liked. We’ll see if tomorrow is any better!
To-Do List –
1. Get in a workout: Check – back on the bike, taking on a GrayStillPlays compilation video: “Drawing people into 100 uncomfortable situations!” AKA Gray plays various “brain games,” most of which DO involve drawing. As usual, we started with some new content, with Gray versus an unnamed puzzle game (curated by a cartoon Stephen Hawking) – said puzzle game included Gray accidentally clicking himself out of a punchline (he thought that the puzzle wanted which vehicle was biggest on the SCREEN, but it wanted which vehicle was biggest in REAL LIFE, thus when he clicked on the school bus, he was right), finding 8 in a sea of numbers (by clicking on the “Find 8” at the top of the screen), multiplying pizza slices to get the correct number, and watching a bunch of people kill themselves by sawing themselves out of a tree onto a very inappropriately-shaped rock pile. XD From there, we moved to DOP 4 (a drawing game where the top of the Eiffel Tower can be replaced with a turkey, a swingset can be replaced with a dinosaur biting a child’s foot, and pretty much everything else can be replaced with either a poorly-drawn human skull, a poorly-drawn can of Bud Light, or a REALLY poorly-drawn alligator), and then to Brain Nurse Story (a game where you had to manipulate different scenes featuring nurses by either drawing things (Gray gave one nurse a gun to protect her from the pandemic, and the game turned it into hand sanitizer to his disappointment), scanning for things (like a spider to scare a nurse onto a patient’s bed), or erasing things (and no matter what you were SUPPOSED to erase, you could also take off the nurse’s clothes). Currently we’re in the middle of Sneak Thief, where as you play as a burglar heisting various bizarre objects, like a roll of golden toilet paper, or a jeweled avocado, and you can pour money into more stealth or more speed (or more offline earnings). Gray is going full ham on the speed and is cheerfully battering guards with rubber chickens. XD We’ll see what other games made the cut for this video tomorrow!
2. Start editing “Londerland Bloodlines: Downtown Queensland”: Check – we’re back at the beginning now, with Alice taking a ride Downtown with a certain cabbie and discussing her current situation with the assembled Wonderlanders – what she should expect Downtown; her current knowledge of her Kindred state; and that ghoul she accidentally made and abandoned in the clinic. She’s feeling really bad about that last one, which is why it’s a good thing he’ll be showing up again in the next chapter. :) But first she’s gotta make it Downtown, with a head full of advice from her Wonderland friends. :) Hopefully editing this thing will go smoothly!
3. Keep up with YouTube Subs: Just the one video today from GrayStillPlays – “When eggs do infinite damage,” aka Gray plays Merge Cannon: Chicken Defense! This was one of those mobile games where you have to defend a wall from waves of enemies – in this case, chickens armed with a variety of weapons with lots of cannons, and you could merge those cannons to create better cannons. It was also one of those games where the numbers quickly got ridiculous, with both damage and money earned with each level going from the mere thousands all the way into “Excel Spreadsheet Columns” (aka amounts labeled AA, BB, CC, etc). Gray abused the power of watching ads about dental hygiene, Mazdas, and Chinese takeout to get some early bonuses (and later used an autoclicker to earn tons of free crates from the “free crate” button), but soon enough he was simply earning more money than he could ever spend, buying loads of cannons and combining them to get better and better firepower, upgrading everything in sight, and alternating declaring that he was helping the chickens evolve by murdering all of them (with pellets that looked like eggs, hence the title) and taunting the chickens into coming and attacking his wall (which he could instantly repair any time he wanted with an easily affordable upgrade). He didn’t stop until he was basically one-shotting any chicken who stepped on the screen and had leveled his cannons all the way up to level 50. The glee in his voice as the numbers went from “reasonable” to “no sane person would have these numbers in their house” was a delight. XD Gotta love the mobile games with no sense of proportion! And to be fair, this one did look GENUINELY fun, so that’s something too. :)
4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check – got this one done early, I’m happy to say!
Victor Luvs Alice – Got my queue for the rest of the week sorted – Fic Resolutions on Wednesday (getting LB:DQ sorted and Valicer In The Dark started); some nice reblogged A:MR Cardbridge art for Thursday; some nice reblogged Emily from Corpse Bride art for Friday; and The Mountain Goats “This Year” for Song Saturday! So don’t have to worry about THAT for a bit. Also got tagged in a “WIP meme” by my friend Squid, so I did a post for that this evening (and sent them an ask about one of theirs) – we’ll see if anything comes of it!
Valice Multiverse – Had one reply to my “Happy Moonturn from the Valicer In The Dark Verse” post from Satirical Demon, pointing out that, no, not every universe other than the Shattered Isles gets to enjoy sunlight – I had Alice go “right, keep forgetting about the hellhole you all live in” and Smiler congratulate them on making it to another year despite all the bullshit in response. XD So that’s in the queue!
Other: Answered all of Moose’s messages tonight, yay! Though I still have to figure out a birthday fic idea here. . .
Yeah, not too shabby. And now I need to go to bed and get ready to do it all again tomorrow. *sigh* Well, hopefully I'll be able to keep up the productivity train on fic and stuff. . .night all!
