Late Running Monday
Jul. 8th, 2024 11:55 pmWho is surprised, honestly? :p But I am here and I'm ready with an update --
Work – Back to work, and back to the frustration today, as I found that our processors posted a bunch of stuff that was supposed to be toward one campaign on another while doing the GL. *sigh* Fortunately I was able to fix the problem by the end of the day, and the rest of the day wasn’t so bad – I did a couple of obituaries, looked at some returned mail, and checked over a QC file for a pledge billing coming up. It all made the day go by, at the very least! I just could have done without that little bit of bullshit at the beginning of the day. Ah well…at least I got my vacation at the beginning of August approved! And another day off later in July as well, yay.
To-Do List –
1. Get in a workout: Check – another night on the bike, another night with the GrayStillPlays compilation “I made driving 1000x more dangerous!” Today saw me pedal through the rest of Draw Jousting (Gray getting himself the spiky balls and spiky tires to make his Pringles potato chips, infinity symbols, YEETs, and Floridas more intimidating – a few of his cars proved to be too floppy and let him down, but he still ended the segment with a solid win record) and most of Zombie Run Annihilation (the stickman version of those “drive across a landscape killing zombies and earning money until you run out of gas and boost, then spend that money upgrading your car so you can get farther and unlock the next car and the next map” games – *looks it up* Earn To Die, that’s what I was thinking of! Anyway, Gray had as much fun with this one as he did with the ETD series, cheerfully plowing over zombies in cars ranging from a Dukes of Hazard-type sports car to an ice cream truck to a school bus). We’ll finish that off and see what’s next on the list tomorrow! Pretty sure I saw that weird game where you make vehicles out of people in the thumbnail…
2. Work on the final post edit of Chapter 3 of “Start At The Beginning...Sort Of”: Check – having finished the chapter off a couple of days ago, I’ve uploaded it to FF.net’s document editor and started going over it to fix typos and tweak phrasing, as I do. Got around halfway through tonight, with the trio plus Emily having made it to Brightstone and found their way to the Everglot Manor – tomorrow, we’ll go over the fight with Barkis and see if I can get this sucker up on AO3!
3. Keep up with YouTube Subs: Check – Monday Two seems to be the way of things right now –
A) First up, the latest from Josh Way – “GRAB BAG: Spoilers and Topics!” Twenty minutes of Josh going on about the state of the Marvel (and Star Wars) movies under Disney, and how he realized what a nothing movie Spider-Man: No Way Home was on a rewatch (he left about halfway through because once you’re over the excitement of the “all three live-action Spideys together” gimmick, the movie is just not good); talking about what exactly he didn’t like about the end of Hitman (basically the ending goes into wish fulfillment left field, which he found annoying); discussing some of the weird shit that happens in Tuesday and how he interpreted it (Julia Louis-Dreyfus's character apparently goes through some stuff); and something that made him very uncomfortable in the third story of the anthology film Kinds of Kindness (something very gross happens in that story that did not NEED to happen and Josh wasn’t a fan). Interesting stuff, and it is nice to see him follow up on some things that he brought up in previous reviews but didn’t necessarily want to get into too much detail about because spoilers. *nods* Good thing I don’t care about those. :p (Or, honestly, seeing the movies he’s mentioned – most don’t sound like my cup of tea.)
B) And second up, the latest from GrayStillPlays – “Merging into WORLD ENDING TANKS,” aka Gray plays Merge Master Tanks! As you might expect, this is one of those games where you merge things – specifically, you buy cartoony goofy tanks (in both “shooter” and “crusher” varieties – the “crushers” being the melee fighters; yes, we have melee TANKS in this game), merge them together to get new and better tanks, send them out against the assembled enemy tanks to earn money for more tanks to merge, then eventually fight a boss and move on to the next map to do it all again. Simple concept, simple execution, Gray thoroughly enjoyed merging together his tanks to see what the next level of ridiculousness would be (answer: very) and how quickly they would steamroll over his opponents (answer: extremely). One of those games where you don’t think a lot about it and you end up dropping it once you see there’s only like two “boss tank” models and everything is the same other than that, but good for an amusing 14 minute video of Gray exulting in how much cash you get for blowing stuff up and delighting in weird-ass tanks. :)
4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Only had Victor Luvs Alice to worry about here, and didn’t really have anything to do tonight, so I substituted in answering Moose’s latest crop of messages over here. Which, uh, took a while, because the wordiness is real. ^^; But I did it, yay! Sorry the last message is a little sparse as a result, Moose! That 5,000 character limit really gets you!
Whew! Lot going on there (especially with the messages), but I got it all done. And now it is time to head to bed and prepare to do it all again tomorrow. *nods* Night all!
