Yes, thankfully for us all, the prophesied thunderstorms did not actually come to pass, yay. :) I do enjoy when we manage to avoid bad weather! And the day itself was perfectly fine, for the most part --

Work – Had an all right first day back on the grind – I did the GL, I finished off some obituaries, and I helped some people with credit card stuff (setting up someone’s pledge on their bank account – which took two tries because apparently the information wasn’t quite right the first time – alerting someone to some payments not going through (turned out he needed to get a new card) and redoing a gift that failed the first time through our processing center). Certainly kept me busy! And my commutes weren’t nightmares because the storms that were supposed to rage today never materialized, yay. Hopefully tomorrow is more of the same!

To-Do List

1. Get in a workout: Check – another night on the bike, another night with the GrayStillPlays compilation “100 things you should never do in sandbox games!” Well, the portion of it I’m watching, anyway… Today saw me:

A) Finish off the Universe Sandbox 2 “let’s make the Sun bigger” episode I started yesterday, which saw the ever-growing Sun become a cold gray sphere – right up until the point where Gray expanded it so it was basically on Earth’s doorstep, when it suddenly heated up again and provided a hell of a light show. Nobody knows why. XD Anyway, episode ended with Earth in pieces and the sun having gotten so big it vanished

B) Get through a video about a game called Ecosystem (where you set up an ocean ecosystem, with randomly-generated predator, prey, and filter feeder fish, and then monitor it to help some species and cull others) that I’d never seen before (must have been from before I started watching him regularly). As you might imagine, his ecosystem was deliberately as fucked-up as he could make it, featuring all sorts of horrible twisted fish. Quite literally, in fact, one of his most successful predator species was basically an eel that had twisted itself into a pretzel. Gray of course boosted only the worst fish he could find, and he didn’t stop pumping out weird underwater nonsense until it crashed the game XD

C) And make it through most of a video on a game about setting up a virtual fish tank...which was in early access/testing trials when Gray played it, so he had infinite money to cause chaos. He promptly grew the word “Hell” in oxygen-giving plants, made a terrible sand spike and stuck a sword through it, then filled the tank with as many fish as he could while giving them nothing to eat but happy pills; when I left off, all the original fish had died from all the waste in the uncleaned tank, so Gray was trying to fill the tank with goldfish instead.

Yeah, plenty of fucked-up stuff to prove that he doesn’t need ChatGPT to give him ideas here. XD We’ll finish this off tomorrow, then see about wrapping up James Turner’s Tiny Town series!

2. Get back to work on “Londerland Bloodlines: Downtown Queensland”: Check – got back to the stories I was MEANT to be writing all this time today, starting with Malkavian!Alice’s adventures in Downtown LA! I picked back up with Alice getting her blood tested by Strauss to make sure she hadn’t been infected during her quest to destroy all the plague-bearers in Los Angeles (and finding an interesting book on gargoyles on his shelves while he was away doing said tests…) – Strauss returned in today’s chunklet to let her know she’s clean, and to give her a lesson about Kindred generations! Specifically, he informed her how she’s kind of an anomaly because she’s a neonate – a very newly-made vampire – but she’s also surprisingly-low generation – her sire, Fish, was seventh, so she’s eighth – a generation you usually only see in vampires that have been around for a while. He admitted that her lower generation isn’t likely to stop anyone from bossing her around, but that it should help her master her Disciplines faster (with Alice admitting that she’s already seen that with how easily Obfuscate and Dementation come to her). He also volunteered that he was sixth generation himself, and Embraced in 1450, which kind of blew Alice’s mind a little. XD I left off with him preparing to reward her for all her hard work in stopping the plague-bearers – tomorrow, Alice gets a very useful necklace off him, and then heads off to tell the Anarchs that the problem has been solved!

3. Keep up with YouTube Subs: Check – just the one GrayStillPlays video to worry about today: “Can square wheels climb stairs?” Yes, today’s Gray Torture Board was an interesting one, as Gray tested three square-wheeled cars (and their round-wheeled counterparts, though in practice the round-wheeled cars didn’t get much screentime) against a variety of diabolical stair challenges! The cars were the Square Sports Car (with four normal square wheels), the Square Side-By-Side (with tiny squares in the front and big squares in the back), and the Square Pickup Truck (with, actually, CROSS-shaped wheels made up of multiple squares), and the challenges were:

I. Making it up nine levels of rainbow-colored stairs which got taller and taller as time went on, while also avoiding cubes both teleporting and stationary AND invisible walls, all within 30 seconds – all of the cars made a valiant effort, but only the Square Pickup Truck could actually get to the top within the time limit

II. Going down a bunch of stairs where every sixth step was a yeeter in 16 seconds – the Square Pickup Truck and Square Sports Car did their best, but the Square Side-By-Side had the acceleration necessary to get across the yeets

III. Going up a long staircase made of destructible concrete and rebar...then turning around and going back down again through a tunnel on the INSIDE of the staircase to reach the teleporter – the Square Side-By-Side’s tiny front tires betrayed it there, and while the regular pick-up truck got pretty far up, it was the Square Pickup Truck with its enormous tires that climbed to the top, then back down again with – MINIMAL issues XD

IV. And testing whether a square-wheeled car coasted better on a flat tightrope or a spiky angular one, for some variety, with Gray having 4 seconds to control the car before he was yeeted to the passenger seat and it had to get to the other side of the tightrope without losing all its speed or getting yeeted by the Inevitable Weebmill at the end – the Square Pickup Truck actually did pretty poorly on this, but the Square Sports Car did really well, and the Square Side-By-Side, just CRUISED across the spiky tightrope, easily getting the win

So our conclusions are clear – if you must climb stairs, get yourself a square-wheeled pickup truck; if you’re going across spiky tightropes, you want a square-wheeled side-by-side. *nods* Good to know. XD

4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check-ish – I only had Victor Luvs Alice (N Smiler) to worry about today, but I did get rather distracted tonight catching up on various tumblr things, so I didn’t get to my drafts until late. But I did manage, just now, to update Multiamory March masterpost with the categories for the Valicer Forgotten Vows AU and the Multiplayer Wonderland AU, so that’s not nothing. That just leaves wrangling the links for Running Headlong Into The Bullshit, All The Fairytales, and Soulmate! *nods* Sounds doable to me – just later. :P

And there we are! And now I have to head to bed so I hopefully get some better sleep tonight. Also, sounds like it's starting to rain out there, which means maybe the thunderstorms will be showing up now. Hmmm. We'll see what happens -- night all!
