Fucking HELL It's Windy

crossover_chickThough not as windy as it was around 10:30 PM -- the gusts THEN were frankly a bit terrifying. As in "maybe it was just my brain being a little panicked but I SWEAR the house seemed to shake a bit just now." *grimace* Just -- damn. I know it's not a patch on some of the wild weather/disasters that have been hitting other parts of the US, but it was still -- unsettling, to say the least. :(
Anyway -- things seem to be calming down out there a little now, and I do need to get to bed sooner rather than later, so here is the daily round-up:
Work – A kind-of-busy day – had a few phone calls (credit cards, checking where to send gifts, stuff like that); got through most of the remaining exceptions sent back from our processor (mostly marking people inactive/do not solicit); had the biweekly call with the credit card people (and helped track down a couple more sus transactions); did a little roster maintenance. Like, it wasn’t OVERWHELMINGLY busy, but it was busy enough. And with a minimum of bullshit behind me, which I appreciated. *nod* We’ll see what happens on Thursday!
To-Do List –
1. Get in a workout: Check – another night on the bike, another night with “Cooking with Reuben in Tiny Town Challenge! - Part 17” by James Turner! Our first proper chunklet (as in, more than four minutes) of this particular video featured –
A) Reuben overcoming his fears of water (by swimming confidently for an hour in the Tiny Town Center pool) and the dark (by becoming confident during a nighttime food sale), which was good – fears can be really annoying in this game, and we love to see someone pushing past them! Plus he actually developed a like for Fitness in the process, so now he can swim or work out for fun, yay.
B) Reuben taking control of the Tiny Town club from Scarlett – and then, ironically, setting the encouraged activity as “gardening” to make damn sure her plants didn’t die while James was finishing up with everyone else (her cowplant had already gone kaput, sadly, but those things do die VERY QUICKLY if you don’t feed them). This was partly out of the goodness of his heart, and partly because James realized that he could have Reuben pick some of her produce to use in his cooking to drive down costs. XD He has sworn that whatever Reuben harvests has to be used in his cooking, though – no selling it from the inventory for free cash!
C) Reuben getting a phone call from Scarlett on one of these harvesting missions – where she revealed she’d found a ring in Patchy’s bag! Meaning that, depending on what Reuben suggested, she and Patchy could actually get engaged! James was utterly thrilled and had Reuben encourage her to say yes, which she was only too happy to do. So it seems that a Scarlett/Patchy wedding may be in the works after all!
D) Reuben holding some food sales, natch – his attempts to sell mushroom waffles in Finchwick right next to the pub didn’t go well, but once he lowered the prices a little bit, subsequent sales on his home lot went a LOT better. Especially when he started using fresh ingredients and prepared ingredients to make things a little cheaper and faster. The banana split waffles in particular are a hit! Who is surprised. :p
E) And, related to the above, Reuben working on the Appliance Wiz aspiration, as it’ll give him the “Batch Cook” trait – which will result in him getting double the amount of servings when he cooks something with prepped ingredients! You can see how that would be useful in his chosen career. *nods* Anyway, James managed to get through the first couple of stages of the aspiration in this chunklet – getting Reuben a stand mixer; getting him to collect prepped ingredients (namely batter, since currently his thing is waffles) while inspired with the help of cloudgazing; cooking a bunch of random stuff (like cupcakes and Yorkshire pudding) to experience the sped-up cooking times from prepped ingredients (all while being haunted by a ghost who kept eating his batter!); and chopping up some random carrots he had in his inventory to make three batches of fresh prepped veggies! :) I left it with James getting ready to tackle the next stage, which will see Reuben have to collect an excellent-quality prepped ingredient, listen to music while cooking five times, and cook meals with six unique prepped ingredients. Which might be a bit of a pain in the ass, but it can all be sold for cash, so… Looking forward to the next bit – even as it all makes me miss when I was having my Chill Valicer Save Sims run the Van Liddelton Snacks stand. :( I really wish that damn occult eyes bug would get fixed so I could have my eventual Tiny Town Smiler take up the mantle with their drinks stand…

Continue working on “Londerland Bloodlines: Downtown Queensland”: Check – Alice checked out the upstairs of Bishop Vick’s horror house tonight...and learned that what she’s up against is none other than fucking zombies. Like, the very first person she saw was a bald, drooling man covered in lesions, who stumbled toward her with a very familiar shambling gait. Fortunately, she was able to put him down with a couple of shots to the head, no problem...and even more fortunately, she was able to backtrack, get herself a nice solid plank of wood, then turn it into a spear by tying her knife to it with some twine she found on the ground. Because she doesn’t know if the ammo she brought with her is going to be sufficient to take out all these shambling plague victims, and she’d like as much space between her and them as possible, thank you! *nods* Anyway, that got me to another scene break in the chapter – we’ll pick up with her battling her way through the hoards and toward Brother Vick next week!
3. Keep up with YouTube Subs: Check – just the one GrayStillPlays video tonight: “I added one planet to Earth's orbit every minute,” aka Gray plays Universe Sandbox 2! Tonight’s experiment involved Gray adding various planets orbiting around Earth in an attempt to make it less “lonley,” with the number of planets and the ridiculousness of the experiment going up as time went on. He started with adding one Mars, which really didn’t seem to do anything beyond make the Earth a little bit colder...and then he added a Mercury in a closer orbit, and it turned out Mercury REALLY likes running into stuff. Particularly Mars. And Earth. So Gray tried again with another Earth and a number of really tiny Earthlets, figuring the main issue was the size of the stuff he was adding around Earth. And the results seemed to bear this hypothesis out, as the initial five Earthlets orbited the Main Earth without any problems...
And THEN Gray added a moon-sized Earthlet to the outer ring, aaaaand the chaos started right back up again. Including one Earthlet getting flung off into space (only to return once Main Earth got close enough again); the other Earthlets starting to fight each other in a very explodey way; and one Earthlet utterly obliterating Australia when it smacked into Main Earth. However, Gray was of course not satisfied with this, and went up to ten orbiting Earthlets, then twenty, and finally managed to get 100 Earthlets all orbiting the Earth. Briefly, until they all started running into each other and causing a hell of a fireworks show. XD Final result of all this was the original Earth being flung into the farthest reaches of space and becoming an ice ball, and the Earthlets taking over orbiting the sun and actually playing nice with each other now that Main Earth was no longer in the picture. Lesson learned – always get rid of the original Earth before adding your Earthlets to the solar system!
4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: N/A – I only had Victor Luvs Alice (N Smiler) to think about tonight, and the queue for this week is all sorted, so… I was hoping to get something more done on the Valicer Not-Incorrect Valentine’s Day Quote collection, but time (and getting distracted by other stuff) forbid. I’ll see what I can do later!
*nods* Not too bad. And now I really need to get to bed, as I do still have two days to get through this week. *sigh* Ah well -- hopefully I don't blow away in the middle of the night! Night all!

Whenever I made one of AL's people I had to make them fall in love without anyone else around (was tough when I had a "Doctor" family with Five, Eight, Nine, and Ten...I had to keep making them get out of eyeshot of the others doing love interactions with her lol).
