crossover_chick: gif with Doc and Marty trying to get out of being written into twisted AUs (Default)

A) I'll start off with one positive thing -- the special effects were very nice. Ben Grimm, aka Thing, looked quite good, as did Victor Von Doom.

B) The acting though -- UGH. I wanted to SLAP Johnny Storm (aka The Human Torch) right across the face. I know he's supposed to be the daredevil of the group, but DAMN, he was immature! And Victor Von Doom reminded me of 1)Norman Osborn (he's the owner of a huge cooperation in this one, and is ousted much like Norman) and 2)a low-rent Magneto.
C) Speaking of Victor, they completely changed him from the original story (which I know from my Marvel encyclopedia) -- instead of being a powerful scientist/dictator who's vanity led to him creating and wearing his signature mask, he's a mutant similar to the 4 themselves -- his body turns into a sort of organic metal, and he can channel electrical power and such. Now, I'm not saying that changing characters for the movies is a bad thing -- Spider-Man 2 did it with Doc Ock, and they made it work. But I don't think it worked here, for the reasons I cited in B) -- he reminded me too much of those other characters. He should have been more unique.
D) This is just a personal opinion thing, but the guy who's playing Reed Richards, aka Mr. Fantastic -- I just don't think he's right. Something about him threw me off.
E) Stan Lee Sighting -- he's the mailman for the Baxter Building, and actually gets a few lines.
F) The plot was kinda thready, and the whole thing just really moved too fast. I would have preferred some more backstory before diving into the whole "Fantastic Four" part.
In conculsion -- See it if you must, but there are better ways to spend a day at the movies.

However, on the plus side, we went to Wal-Mart to do some shopping right after the movie ended, and I was able to get the next four books in the "A Series of Unfortunate Events" series. Now I have up to the tenth book, the Slippery Slope. *beam* I love Lemony.
-D: Too bad you have no place to put them.-
I know. I think it'll be time to clear off my shelves again in a little while, and try and sell some of the books I don't read. I'd like to have my Sword of Truth series on the actual selves as well. Hmmm.
*strange thing that looks a bit like a puppy made from clock innards comes in, steals my pen, and leaves again*
. . .
-M: What the hell?-
-TD: *from outside* PENLIGHT! I said PENLIGHT! *comes in with my pen* Sorry, there's still a few bugs I have to work out.-
-M2: What was that thing?-
-TD: I call it "Fetch." I cannibalized a few old clocks *other Docs make mock-horrified faces* and built him to fetch tools. Still not perfect, but with a little tinkering--
You know, I have to wonder how the AI in "steampunk" robots work. I mean, I can understand the clockwork, but how to you make them think and obey orders?
-TD: I don't know about the rest of them, but I just used some old computer parts.-
. . .Where do you get all these parts? Do I have a secret warehouse around here that I unknowingly created for you?
-VD: Actually, it's in the basement.-
-OD: *both him and tentacles looking like they're about to drool* More parts than you could ever imagine.-
-VD2: Where do you think we get our new invention ideas?-
Hmmm, I see. *thinks about it for a moment, then mentally adds something*
-D: *puzzled* What did you do?-
Well, I figured the Martys and Jennifers should have something too.
-M: ??-
Music conservatory for the Martys of course, and the Jennifers have a slightly more girly nook if they care to use it.
-Martys: O.O *run downstairs to check out conservatory*-
-J: *giggle* Thanks.-
You're welcome.
-DW: *from room* Hey, I'm using that light!-
-TD: *blushing* Appears "Fetch" needs my attention again.-
