Preoccupied With 1955: Day Seven

November 11th, 1955: Another "Empty Day" in canon. Probably more refinement of plans and such. Tomorrow's the big one, folks!
I actually missed the "deadline" for posting this -- Mom and Dad rented "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" (had to rent it TWICE in fact, the first version had REALLY poor video quality). Thoughts on the movie:
A) Johnny Depp as Willy Wonka ISN'T the creepiest person in the film. That honor goes to Mrs. Beaugarde, with her "evil eyebrows of DOOM." Seriously, that woman freaked me out.
B) Did follow the book fairly faithfully. Mom said it was a lot like the other movie, "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" -- I'm not sure. It's definitely darker.
C) Danny Elfman must have had SO MUCH FUN composing the musical numbers. Seriously, there is some seriously cool music in here. The opening theme is especially creepy.
D) The chocolate river pipe ride and the Great Glass Elevator are dying to be made into theme park rides.
All in all, not a bad way to spend a few hours, though it's not very laugh out loud funny.
-TD: *drooling* But -- that Inventing Room---
You're silly.
-H: I'm in the mood for chocolate now.-
It'll have to wait until morning.
Despite it being an empty day in regular canon, plenty happened in Sims Hill Valley. It was Wednesday for the Brown family -- I had everyone play some red hands, then Doc and Clara worked on skills while Jules and Verne caught up on homework.

Once everyone was set, I had Clara fill Martina up with some smart milk and teach her how to walk.

-D: *beam* Martina's a smart one, huh?-
Yup. Although right now she looks to be a Family Sim -- her wants revolve around you and Clara.
-VD: Interesting.-
The boys went off to school while Martina, Clara, and Doc all took naps. I also got Clara and Doc their Biotech Station. They both took the day off work for Verne's birthday.
Jules had a good day at school -- he ended up getting a Cooking Point from the Bake Sale chance dialogue, then got to spend some quality time with his sister.

-J: Aww.-
Yeah. :) Then, once Verne got home, I had Doc call up Marty (didn't want him to miss both boy's birthdays.) Marty ended up bringing along Linda. Doc entertained them while everyone got ready.

And right around six o'clock, it was time. Verne blew out the candles, and with a burst of confetti, grew into a Family teen who desires red hair and bathing suits.

-VD2: *beam* Not a bad looking kid.-
I know. :) The "party" proceeded -- everyone got cake, and I outfitted the boys' room with a bass and dart board.

Verne retired early, exhausted. Jules stayed up to talk to Marty -- they got along quite well.

Doc also succeeded in teaching Martina how to speak. All three toddler skills learned, yay.

And then it was some quality time between Doc and Clara, and bed.

-OD: *grin* I like that.-
I thought you would. :p I also visited the Elder Tannens. They spent much of the day learning various skills.

Gertrude got a job in the Military as a Paintball Assistant (or something) to bring in cash, while Buford met the Match Maker and found himself liking her. They later made friends over the phone.

-VM: Remind our families never to use that particular matchmaker.-
Heh. Buford and Gertrude get along all right, for the most part. Except when it comes to the bathroom -- Buford is super-sloppy while Gertrude is on the neat side.

Buford also scavenged the trash can for anything good -- found a noisemaker for nine simoleons.

He also crank-called Seamus McFly -- Gertrude was the one yelled at, though, as Buford went to sleep before Seamus could attack.

-M: O.o What the heck is he talking about there?-
Don't ask me -- college doesn't even figure in for them. *shrug*
I visited Downtown and made some adjustments -- added a lot for the Palace Saloon, did some work on Courthouse 1885, and changed some stuff for Lou's Cafe.

Pretty good day for all concerned.
-DW: Find your abduction telescope?-
Maybe -- we'll have to see. Gotta make a backup though first.
-D: *fingers crossed* For the love of God, don't let it be twins.-

Date: 2005-11-12 01:55 pm (UTC)Oh, and we've gotten Sims 2! Only I haven't really been able to play it because of exams, so it doesn't really count yet... I made the McFlys though. GEORGE LOOKS SO MUCH LIKE HIS SIM.

Date: 2005-11-15 02:01 am (UTC)B) HOWEVER, it only happens with the expensive telescope, and the chance of a "natural" abduction is about 0.05% or something like that. I had to use a hack to get ToP Emmett Von Braun abducted. Your Sims should be safe. If you're still worried, have them use the cheap, smaller telescope.
