crossover_chick: gif with Doc and Marty trying to get out of being written into twisted AUs (In a sarcastic mood)

Special Effects: For the most part, good. There were some moments that felt a little fake to me.
Acting: Over-the-top. There were some good performances, but the whole thing was just way overdone.
Plot: Same as the 1933 one, but seemed thinner for some reason.
Random Notes:
-->Movie was 3 hours long, butt was killed.
-->UNNECCESSARY GIANT BUG SCENE. I hate NORMAL-sized bugs, so I don't particularly care to see giant ones trying to eat people. Especially when it goes on way too long and isn't particularly related to the plot.
-->Carl Denham (Jack Black's character) -- utter bastard. Utter fricking bastard. Was the original this bad? I don't remember.
-->Predictable -- I was able to guess pretty accurately who was and wasn't going to die.
-->A number of logical disconnects -- overly accurate fire with a machine gun, King Kong being able to slide around on ice (this is a 25-foot-tall gorilla, which weighs who knows HOW much), humans sort of being able to outrun a number of Skull Island beasties, etc.
-->Point in movie's favor -- Carl's assistant Preston was kind of cute, and unless he was one of the unfortunates crushed by King Kong at the end (I couldn't quite see if it was him), he managed to survive the movie. *goes to look guy up* Colin Hanks. Don't know him, but he's a cutie with glasses. :)
Tired now. Bed.

Colin Hanks = Tom Hanks' son. He absolutely rocks in one of my fave movies Orange County (which also has, ironically, Jack Black in it). You may want to check out that film -- it involves a teenage writer, heh.

I thought the acting was pretty good, actually...the over-the-top-ness seemed to fit the picture. Carl Denham was a bastard, yes, but Jack Black brought some of his eccentric nature to it, which I thought made it work pretty well....

The logic stuff you pointed out, I think, can be overlooked to a degree. I thought about the ice breaking, but I figured the river must've been completely solid/pretty shallow...what I thought about more, though, was how could Ann walk around New York in a skimpy dress in the dead of winter? Whatever.

I haven't seen the original, but I did like this remake. *shrug* I only think that making it 3 hours was a mistake, and that they only used that extra time to show off special effects throughout the whole part on Skull Island. I guess, after LOTR, Peter Jackson can do whatever he wants, eh? Hehe.

LoL, yeah, my Dad pointed out the Ann's dress thing. And yeah, they overdid Skull Island a bit -- like I said, they probably could have cut the bug scene down. I guess the movie just wasn't my thing.

I saw Colin Hanks on some talk show. Can we say LOO-HOO-HOO-SERRR. Seriously, he's totally riding his daddy's coat tails. He was telling this stupid story that was apparently supposed to be funny but it was just stupid. Sure, he's cute, but that's all he's got going for him as far as I'm concerned. I haven't had the privilege to see him act, however so I'm probably being hasty..but I wasn't impressed with him.

Well, Preston didn't get many lines, but he seemed to do a good job with the character. *shrug*
