crossover_chick: gif with Doc and Marty trying to get out of being written into twisted AUs (In a sarcastic mood)

-TD: Why, what happened?-
*first blinks at "autosaved draft" thing that just popped up* WTF? Although tis good WTF. . . .
Anyway -- for a while now, I've noticed that I'm running low on hard drive space. The problem is, my main hard drive, C:, is only about 16 MB large. I'm down to 25% free on that, as my Sims folder takes up a LOT of space. My stories probably don't help either. My D: drive, however, is about 40 MB and only has my original Sims 2 game and some random folders.
I've read that you can move the My Documents folder from C to D to free up space and stuff. As there's another Sims expansion pack coming out (yes, I've resigned myself to the fact that I'll be buying Open For Business), I decided to go ahead and try it. I get the appropriate web page, follow the instructions --
And me being paranoid me, change my mind at the last second and click no.
Well, naturally, I'm pissed at myself and decided to try again. To my surprise, though, when go to put it under D, I see that the My Documents folder I put on there suddenly has My Pictures and My Music, complete with sample songs and photos. Puzzled, I delete these, then go back to C and investigate My Documents there.
My Documents is listed as being empty.
Cue me screeching like a banshee.
-D: O.O-
-VM: Oh, WOW.-
I know. I went downstairs blabbering that I'd somehow managed to wipe my hard drive or something and that my last back up is two months out of date (I know, but I'm out of writable CDs (and Sims 2 is getting too large for those anyway) and I can't figure out how to get the DVD+Rs my parents bought and let me have to work). Dad goes up and helps me through a System Restore two days back. Apparently I didn't manage to delete everything, as my files went right back to where they were before (and I didn't lose two days worth of work, either, yay).
-VD: Whew. I know if you had lost all your work, SOMEONE would have died.-
I know. Dad told me not to be afraid of trying out this sort of thing just because of this, but when you think you've lost it ALL -- well, that ship's pretty much sailed. I'll live with my hard drives the way they are.

Got to do the Quiz thingy I was tagged for. I changed the background color as my color scheme makes text white on black, and the yellow background made it almost impossible to read.

Guilt
What is yours?
Explain yourself
Culinary: Chocolate Candy Hey, who DOESN'T like chocolate?
Literary: Comic Books I used to be so proud that I read books like "Silas Marner" when I was younger. Now I'm a comic book geek. :p
Audiovisual: Food Processor Informercials You heard me. I just LOVE how enthusastic everyone is about it. Somebody needs to make an MST3K version of one.
Musical: Movie Soundtracks I buy these generally to get a couple of specific songs that I fell in love with over the movie
Celebrity: Christopher Lloyd Mostly because I will watch anything with this man, including lame sitcoms

Now I tag:-

to complete this same Quiz, Its HERE.
-TD: I don't think there's anything wrong with you being a comic book geek.-
That's only because you approve of my taste in comics.-
-DW: *disbelievingly* Food Processor Informercials?-
Yes, I know, I'm strange!
Now off to do some more work before the night is out. I did some minor typing on "BTTX," "Boy Genius" (editing Chapter 2), and "Liquid Chocolate."
-OD: I suppose that's not too bad. Hopefully the weekend will lead to more productiveness.-
We can only hope. Nighten all.

Ouch! I hate computer troubles. I'd especially freak if I lost anything from my documents folder.

And I totally agree with you about the Christopher Lloyd guilty pleasure. Stacked wouldn't be half as good without him.

Oh that's happened to me a couple of times. My computer randomly deleted everything in the 'My Documents' folder - twice! I ended up renaming the file.

Technology really knows how to stress you out. Glad you got it sorted though.
