Woo, Challenge
May. 30th, 2006 10:12 pm-M: Whoa, a me-centered fic. That never happens.-
Oh, hold on a second, "Teen Doc" was pretty you-centered. So was "Dark Half" -- at the very least, you got roughly equal-time with Doc. I don't neglect you.
-M2: *hands up* Easy there -- we all know Doc's your favorite, and you almost ALWAYS write a Doc-centered fic for those challenges. The only one I can think of that wasn't Doc-based off the top of my head was "Halloweenie."-
-VM: You can't tell us you didn't have a Doc idea for this fan fic challenge.-
-DW: She does, but it's very formless.-
Yeah -- you probably could get an interesting story out of it, but the Marty graduation one is stronger at the moment. We'll see what happens as the month goes on.
-VD: How about your current fan fic projects?-
Well, I did get rather pissed at work today -- busy+hot=crankyVic.
-VD2: Ooooh, NOW you figure out how to revise Sucker's attack on my counterpart.-
Bingo! Sorry VampDoc, but he's gonna scorch your arm on the stove.
-VD: Can't I at least kick him in the groin?-
Heh, you can try. . . .
-D: *looking at written journal* "Past Amnesia" seems to be going pretty well.-
Yeah, it is. The story's flowing -- it's not perfect, by any means, but it's flowing and the main parts are working nicely.
-DW: Er, speaking of NonTrilogy fiction. . . .-
Yes?
-MF: *whimper*-
-DW: He -- accidentally consumed that "Tomorrow Comes Again" plot bunny.-
Ack! Didn't you warn him that it's a rather intense scene?
-DW: Yes, but he ate it anyway!-
-M: *looks at whimpering MartyFox* Oh Jesus, what is it?-
*points at LJ readers* Spoilerific.
-TD: That was never an issue with "Boy Genius."-
Different audience -- I only know of one person who's friended me who also reads "Girl Genius." There's a lot less chance of spoiling anyone should I mention what's happening in THAT story.
-OD: *pats MartyFox's head* I suppose we can guess it'll be rather disturbing.-
-MF: Oh, disturbing doesn't begin to describe it. . . .-
-VD2: I'd say something about you involving Marty in our angst, but that ship sailed with "Dark Half," didn't it?-
Oooooh yes.
-TD: Anyone else find it hard to believe that she ever writes comedy?-
Sims, Sims, wonderful Sims -- I had a very productive day in Strangetown. I visited the Browns today -- they were due for a visit, and it was probably about time I sent Marty off to college.
-M: Yeah, really.-
-J: Do I join him next Strangetown update?-
Don't see why not. Anyway, the day started off pretty well -- Doc was up before everyone else, so I had him start on a Cleanbot.

As six o'clock rolled around, though, I had him stop work and make fried eggs for everyone.

Only Doc and the kids shared breakfast, though -- George and Lorraine weren't hungry, and thus decided to get up to other exploits.

-M: Sheesh, and you wonder why SimMe gets embarrassed.-
LoL, they weren't even in the room. Anyway, the kids headed off to school, leaving George and Lorraine to putz around and Doc to clean up -- it's funny, watching him lick clean a plate with food still attached.

Doc went back to the bench and completed his Cleanbot while George practiced Charisma and Lorraine played guitar. (Sorry about the bad angle in the second shot)

Doc then went to take a well-deserved bubble bath and nap while Lorraine took care of some household chores. George just stayed at that mirror, practicing and practicing, until finally --

Woohoo! George has gotten all of his skills maxed too! Feeling very proud of himself, he takes a need bathroom break and finally gets out of his pajamas.
In the meantime, the kids come home from school -- Eileen with a friend named Jaqueline -- and Lorraine and Doc head off to work. Yup, Lorraine and DOC -- earlier that morning, I'd found a Time Travel job for Doc! *beam* And now they both get to travel in Lorraine's sports carpool, instead of Doc's Smoogo one.

Lorraine left behind a fried chicken meal she was preparing, so Marty finished up that while Eileen and Jaqueline chatted about food.

After some rock-paper-scissors and an appreciate, Eileen sent Jaqueline on her way and practiced piano. Marty, in a good fun mood thanks to Doc, sat down and completed his last-ever teen homework assignment.

He then invited Jennifer over to say goodbye for now. While she was enroute, he also got his Cooking Skill up to 8 -- yay more scholarships. He and Jennifer focused on the mushy stuff, though they also got in a game of red hands.

Then, once she left, it was back on the guitar for a final practice.

While his kids were busy with homework and the instruments, George commanded Marty's art easel and managed to do what the kid hasn't done in a while -- paint and sell a masterpiece. (I swear, it seems sometimes that all my Sims who WANT to paint masterpieces can only paint the one, and then never paint any again.)

Doc and Lorraine came home about this time -- Doc with a promotion to History Textbook Eraser. Lorraine had also gotten a chance card while at work -- the one where you can pay 50,000 to learn the secret ingredient in a bake-off, or stay honest. Lorraine stayed honest and won the 25,000 simoleon grand prize. A productive day for these two!
Then it's back into the land of custom foods! I recently downloaded a couple of quiches (or dinner pies) -- I love my Mom's spinach pies, so I decided to give the same thing to my Sims. George, however, cooked up a pepperoni pie.

Only he and his wife got to partake, however -- though it did look good. (And I should know -- my Mom always includes all sorts of good stuff in her spinach pies.)

Because while George was cooking, Marty was collecting scholarships. He did very well -- SimCity Scholar's Grant, London Culinary Arts scholarship, Will Wright Genius Grant, Quigely Visual Arts Stipend, and the Tsang Footwork Award. (The last of which I had completely forgotten about! And it's worth 1,000 simoleons too! Note to see, make your teenagers dance more often!) Marty totalled up his cash and contacted the cab. I found it sweet that Doc made it in there first to wish Marty Godspeed.

The rest of the family followed suit, and Marty departed for the La Fiesta Tech Simbin, with about 4,000 simoleons worth of grant money. I'm considering having him and Jennifer take over the Octavius's old place.

After that, the rest of the family ate up and went to bed -- all except George, who just barely managed to get to work. I left everyone snoozing.
-OD: First a wedding, now a trip to college. Finally, your other neighborhoods are starting to become less static.-
Yeah, I know. Here's hoping Strangetown Marty grows up as well as Twin Oaks Park Marty.
-M: Yeah -- and how about catching up our Hill Valley version? Jules and Verne are suddenly older than me!-
I've noticed. I think I'll put aging back off in the Brown house temporarily. Besides, might be good to have the extra labor for Doc's eventual home business. *fears building stock with Emmett Von Braun and his daughter* Businesses scaaaare me
-DW: Looks like you did all right with Statler's Motors.-
Yeah, true. I think I'll play him next time Hill Valley comes around.
Okay, back to work with story stuff. And maybe turning on my fan. It's stuffy in here.
-J2: The fan's out? The fan's out! It's summer!-
It took you that long to notice?
-M: Rhode Island weather teases you.-
Ahh, true.
