Jul. 21st, 2006 11:20 pm-OD: *Jules points to half-finished picture* I don't know about that. Looks like you got something done drawing-wise, anyway.-
Yeah, and I got my written page of "Boy Genius" -- but everything else looks like a bust. :( I got on a bit later today (damn line in the bank) so I ended up staying online later.
-D: Then Sims altered your schedule even more?-
Worse. I remembered that tonight was the beginning of "Eureka" on Sci-Fi.
-TD: Ooooo!-
-VD: Actually, we wouldn't mind you slacking off so much for that. How was it?-
So-so. There were a number of funny moments and interesting inventions -- the problem is, we also get into cliche-land. And there's some sort of governmental conspiracy thing that will rule the whole show. If I wanted governmental conspiracy, I'd watch "X-Files."
-VD2: You HAVE watched "X-Files."-
I mean on a regular basis. Let me put it this way -- the commercials are NOT indicative of the show.
-Docs: *disappointed* Awwwww. . . .-
There was some good stuff in there (magnetic levitation device, taychon supercollider, square bubbles), but still, not as cool as the commercials. I wanted to see them "build" the house for Jack, at least.
-TD: *sigh* You win some, you lose some.-
Yeah, I know. What I really want is for someone to make a TV show out of "Girl Genius." The Foglios themselves talk about
a movie, but I seriously think a TV show would be better adapted. We already have voices for a number of the main characters (if the Foglios and their colorist will keep doing the voice work). I even have a prologue in my head for the pilot episode.
-DW: *holds up bunny* We've noticed. You really ought to write this out.-
I know -- perhaps it'll be my contribution to the drabbles100 list I put up on the FanFic Yahoo Group.
I carved out some time for Hill Valley Sims. Poor Hill Valley is getting the short end of the stick lately. Perhaps I should switch Thursdays and Fridays, honestly. . . .
Anyway, I did get a good number of pictures out of my relatively short play session with the Elder Tannens. As usual, we start out with a game of darts.

I decided to do some things that I normally don't get to do, since most of my Sims are nice. So, I have Buford attempt to cheat. Unfortunately for him, Gertrude catches him, and there is yelling.

Well, now the darts game is a bust. Gertrude decides to work out instead. She needs a body point for work after all.

Buford throws out the newspaper and then fumes over Joey Baines. I forget what exactly happened between them, but it's funny to see. :p

By breakfast, Buford and Gertrude have managed to put the whole thing behind them and bond over cereal. They actually finally make friends at this point.

After breakfast, Gertrude painted while Buford showered and cleaned up the mess from his shower. I hate super-sloppy sims.

OMGZ, Buford with a romance novel! *commence giggling*
-D: Well, there's an incentive to learn how to read.-

After he gets bored with his book, I decide to take advantage of another seldom-used interaction and have him salvage stuff from the garbage can. He comes up with what looks like a random blue brick that sells for 4 simoleons. *deadpan* Yayz.

Then it was naptime for the elders -- Gertrude has an evening job, after all. Gertrude was up first, and continued her painting as Buford awoke.

I notice at this time that she also needs another family friend to get a promotion. Now, Gertrude doesn't know anyone well enough to make friends with them anytime soon. Buford does, however, and calls up the one guy who could qualify.
Steven S. Strickland.
-M: . . . WTF?-
I know. My Sims haven't read the script. They got along very well, though -- the conversation mostly centered around food. Buford was willing to talk work with Steven, though. "Are you into law enforcement, like your grandpop? No? Good!"

While Buford yammers, Gertrude sneaks some time with the pink book. :p

Amin Sims wanders by at this point -- I can't resist the urge to have these two torment a policeman. Gertrude, however, isn't up to the task -- she waits to long to argue with Amin, so instead she joins him at darts.

And then it's off to work. Maybe Buford can annoy this guy -- go argue with him, Buffie.

But Amin simply smiles and agrees that puzzles (and later elephants) suck. Frustrated, Buford pulls the finger trick and sends him off.

The day continues -- there is more darts. The Tannens love darts.

There is also more time with the pink book. :p I took a few closer shots of the bookcase as well, to see what kind of titles they had. The books look pretty interesting. :p

Gertrude arrives back home -- unpromoted, sadly. Her mood wasn't good enough. Oh well, next time. She and Buford engage in some gossip before bed.

-M: Okay, now THAT'S in-character.-
Yeah, every so often the game cooperates. :p
Okay, time to see if I can get anything done before I got to bed.
-D: *check watch* You do have roughly two hours.-
Ha ha. I want to get into bed a bit earlier, see if I can catch up on my sleep.
*snorts from muses*
I hate you all, you know that?
